Chapter 22: Chapter 22

"Are you... a werewolf?" I asked barely a whisper.

He looked at me, analyzing me with those eyes. "M-Maive." He stuttered, surely nervous.

Through his actions, I am now certain that Tobias is a werewolf.

I took a deep breath as I stood up from sitting. "All this time?!" I exclaimed hysterically. I felt betrayed by the only person that I treated as my friend. It was only years... but we grew up together. We were almost together every day in those years... yet he did not try to tell me even once.

The betrayal felt a lot more painful than the fact that I was mistakenly here. I am not a werewolf... the administrators were wrong. If I were one of them, I could have known it myself.

"I-I... knew that you'll be scared," He reasoned out.

I shook my head, "No, Tobias. I will be the one to judge whether I will be scared or not. You have masked the truth!"

I was about to leave him when he pulled me. Instantly, I found myself being embraced by him. "I knew that you would react this way, Maive. Forgive me." His voice cracked a bit.

He was the only friend that I have. How could he not tell me his identity? I treated him like a family yet he has kept a secret like this from me.

Tears began to flow from my eyes...from all the frustration that I was feeling.

"Shhh... I'm sorry, Maive."

"I could have accepted it. Do you really think I will not accept you?" I punched his chest.

I would have not then kept a secret about my father who was a werewolf too. Each day, I feel shame for not telling them the real identity of my family or where I came from. I could have said that openly if I had known that.

"M-My father... he's also a werewolf," my voice broke as I sobs in Tobias arms. I punched his chest once more. "How could you judge me to not accept you?"

"You idiot..." I said and pushed him to get away from his embrace. He looked at me with a bloodshot eye... He looked miserable.

"So... you tried to stop me from studying here because you were afraid that I'll know about you." I stated what was in my mind and it isn't a question.

He shook his head as he tried to reach for me. I took a step back. "I stopped you because you'll get hurt here... this place is dangerous for you, Maive." He reasoned out.

"If that's really your intention, you should have told me that it's a den of wolves," I stated and I knew that my emotions were getting into me.

He placed his palms on his face. He, then, shook his head again.

"You got it wrong, Maive. Let's talk when you're calm, okay? Not like this."

I shook my head as I left him.

Again, I felt that pair of eyes which seemed to have been watching me. Fuck whoever that is.

Third Person POV

The man who was watching Maive from afar got out of his hiding position when she was out of his sight. He has been listening to her conversation with her friend named Tobias. He made sure to hear every word in their conversation not to leave unheard words.

He had followed Maive and only stopped when she entered the dormitory. Her eyes were still full of tears when she entered the building.

He was sure that inside the dormitory, Maive is safe and so he shifted into his wolf form as he immediately went out of the place and headed to the territory where quarters are situated.

As soon as he arrived in the quarters, he fixed his clothes and knocked a few times at his Lord's room.

It took some minutes before a firm voice stated, "Come in."

Just the voice made him shiver in fear but he remained in his posture and opened the door.

His Lord's room is surrounded by darkness with only the light coming from the moon giving it a little brightness but not enough to see the full view of the room.

He could see on the desk in the distance in front a shadow of a man sitting on his swivel chair, but despite not seeing his face the well built body and good posture of the man tells that it was his Lord.

"She has returned to her room, My Lord." He started with a bow.

There was no response from his Lord but looked at him with empty eyes.

The man stood straight from bowing and took a deep breath before he said what he was afraid of telling to his Lord. "There was a little incident earlier... a group of boys tried to do something nasty at your woman," he continued, reporting like he always did.

To his surprise, his master immediately advanced towards him, grabbing his collar and in an instant, he was already hanging in the air, lifted by his Lord in one hand.

"And you let that happen?" His jaw was clenched out of anger. His eyes turned crimson upon hearing those words from his subordinate, deep inside he was full of rage.

No one should touch his woman, not in this lifetime. Because Maive is only his.

His subordinate, who is still hanging in the air coughed as he was trying to catch some air, fear dominates him because in front of him is a monster raging in madness. "I d-don't want her to notice my presence," He reasoned out but that seems not to be a good explanation for his master.

"I called for others' help..." He added trying to compose himself as soon as he realized that his master is far from being calm.

The Lord has somehow turned calm and let go of his collar upon hearing those words. However, the anger is still evident in his eyes. His jaw was still clenched.

He falls to the ground as soon as his master's grip on his collar is released. He gasped for air for a few seconds. With him kneeling on the ground, he proceeded to report everything.

"I have gathered the names of those wolves, My Lord. What do you want me to do with them?"

"I'll handle them myself."

He almost shivered from the coldness that his master had shown as he said those words.

"As you desired, My Lord."
