Chapter 206: Chapter 206

Qin Xi squeezed in, put down her things, and pulled Li Xianglu to ask, "What’s going on?"

Li Xianglu’s face was terribly ugly: "She’s been waiting outside the hospital all this time. As soon as we came in, she followed us, saying that she was deluded before and begging me to forgive her."

Qin Xi remained silent, looking at the person on the ground crying, snot and tears mingled, but said nothing.

Li Xianglu lazily asked, "Auntie, what did you just say? Wasn’t I adopted out by you with signed papers? In the spring of ’75, you took six hundred yuan and three hundred kilograms of grain from my grandfather. Have you spent all that money?"

The bystanders were suddenly shocked. Back in ’75, three hundred kilograms of grain – did this woman not realize? Why didn’t she just go rob someone? Now that she sees her daughter doing well, she wants to acknowledge her again? Is it that easy?

Before Ge Sanmei could answer, Li Xianglu continued, "At the end of ’74, you and your older brother drugged me, planning to sell me to Wang Xiwang’s foolish brother as a bride, just to secure a job for your second son in the county transportation team. What, have you forgotten all about it now?"

Li Xianglu knew she couldn’t trust Ge Sanmei; she had been lamenting earlier, but not a word about her own crimes from back then – only admitting in public she had been wrong and deluded. But what exactly did she do wrong? She didn’t say, just crying and wailing, making everyone around think her own daughter was now shunning poor relatives for wealthier ones.

Those who had initially been cross with Li Xianglu for not forgiving her kneeling mother suddenly fell silent. How rare is such a biased mother, and no wonder the daughter refuses to forgive.

Upon hearing the crowd’s change of attitude, Ge Sanmei became a bit anxious and said, "I know I was wrong. I shouldn’t have done it back then. But aren’t you living well now? You went to the capital with Li Huai Ren, you have food and clothes, and you’re even in college. All of this, isn’t it because you were adopted out..."

Upon hearing this, Li Xianglu narrowed her eyes. She knew that Ge Sanmei had ill-intentions for coming here. That reasoning, was it implying that if she hadn’t been adopted out, she would have starved to death? Really, what a mother she had.

Chunhua, who was standing by, couldn’t bear it any longer. As a mother of a daughter, although daughters weren’t as valued as sons, she was still her flesh and blood, born after ten months of pregnancy. Why would someone rather be criticised for wanting a man than not for the sake of her child? Hehua was timid and often bullied at her mother’s home; everything Chunhua did was for her child. How could there be people who think children would live better in someone else’s home than their own?

Unable to hold back, Chunhua spoke out, "You are so unreasonable. You adopted out your child for her own good, and now that she’s doing well, you come here to apologize? What are you trying to do?"

Ge Sanmei had no affection for this woman who stole her man, and in an instant, her pleading demeanor vanished. Burning with rage, she stood up and pointed at Chunhua, cursing, "You adulterous pair, what’s it to you? I am talking to my daughter, what right do you have to butt in?"

Er Fu had already turned pale with anger at this point. If it weren’t for the pain in his legs preventing him from standing, he would have gone up there and slapped this beast already.

Although Chunhua appeared weak, she was used to fighting with her mother-in-law, sister-in-law, and after her husband’s death, returning to her own family to fight with her sisters-in-law. In an instant, the cat turned fierce, hands on hips, she huffed and said, "I’ve been wondering, some people really have no shame. How long has it been since the divorce and you’re still so eager to see my man? We have a marriage certificate, you know. What, you want to have a turnaround? I’m afraid Er Fu wouldn’t want you. Look at you, not to mention your appearance, just that temper, fierce as a mother leopard, attacking anyone you see – who would like that? Your heart is biased towards Nanshan; it’s like sons are children, but daughters aren’t."

This remark directly stabbed Ge Sanmei’s lungs, tearing open what was only a flimsy layer of paper before, trembling with anger, eyes bulging and round, she wailed, "He Chunhua just wants to die!" and you charged at her.

He Chunhua seemed quite skilled in fighting, not standing still but instead running around the area. Ge Sanmei could not catch her and was so angry that her eyes seemed ready to bleed.

Li Xianglu shook her head and shouted, "Enough, this is a hospital, what’s all this commotion about? Madam, please leave our ward, or else I’ll call hospital security."

Ge Sanmei, having failed to catch anyone and hearing Li Xianglu speak , pointed at her incredulously and cursed, "Have you no conscience? Taking the side of such a slut over your own mother?"

Li Xianglu shook her head and said, "What daughter do you have? Your daughter was dead by the time you planned to sell her!"

Ge Sanmei didn’t feel guilty at all and retorted righteously, "Which family isn’t ? Families prioritize boys. Your brothers will treat you well when they succeed. Why can’t you bear it? Why are you the delicate one?"

Li Xianglu was speechless, she turned to the people nearby and called out, "Could someone please call security? There’s a disturbance here, it’s affecting the patients’ rest."

Seeing that Li Xianglu was impervious, Ge Sanmei got so angry that she stomped her foot and threw herself on the ground, starting to roll around and howling, saying her chest hurt so much she couldn’t go on living.

Li Xianglu shook her head, sat on the bed, turned her face away, and refused to look. She didn’t know what Ge Sanmei was up to by seeking her out, but it certainly wasn’t anything good. She had long since decided to cut ties with Li Erfu’s family. Although Li Erfu himself had been somewhat decent toward her, that was just somewhat; it was his inaction that had emboldened Ge Sanmei to drug and kidnap her.

Later, Li Erfu did start to stand up for himself, but what was done was done. She was no saint; she felt happiness, anger, sorrow, pleasure, and pain. She couldn’t completely forgive Li Erfu, so she had remained indifferent over the years. Helping him seek medical care this time was merely a transaction, paying for services. She hadn’t lifted a finger to take care of him, unable to overcome the emotional barrier. Doing so much was already her limit. Did Ge Sanmei see this and think she was a saint?

To injure others, then simply apologize and come begging for forgiveness, asking for benefits? How can there be so many fools in the world?

The hospital security arrived quickly, several of them dragging Ge Sanmei out. She had a problem; she was tough with her family members but the moment she met government officials or those with food rations, she would act submissive and scared. No one needed to show her out; she had already scampered off by herself.

Outside, Ge Sanmei was in a state of disarray. At the side entrance, a furious Li Jianwen was waiting anxiously and asked, "Did you get your sister’s forgiveness in the end?"

Seeing her son angry, Ge Sanmei spoke somewhat fearfully, "No, that damn girl wouldn’t give an inch. Mom even knelt down, yet she completely ignored me. Is she really my own flesh and blood? How can she be so heartless!"

ps: Blood is flowing like a river, writing a bit slow, but managing six or seven updates is still doable.
