Chapter 96: Chapter 96

After a few minutes, upon finishing the food on our plate, we heard someone ringing the doorbell.

Daevon was the one who stood up and opened the door. When he came back, he was already with Azaia. Daevon sat down again beside me while on the other hand, my friend just stood there distancing herself.

I was even baffled when I noticed her clothes. She’s wearing an oversize shirt. This is the first time I saw her wearing something like that and so I stiffen in place, looking surprised at her appearance. She was just wearing a longsleeves croptop yesterday and so what happened? Her arms were hidden away from her back while awkwardly roaming her eyes around us until it stopped on Xenoah.

She bit her lip, her face turning red before lowering her eyes. The two of them exchanged a look as if they were on their world. A smile crept into my face.

Looks like our mother finally found a love life.

“W-Where’s my longsleeves?” Azaia asked, barely uttering the words out. She was as red as a tomato. Xenoah carefully let out a sigh and stood up, walking towards her.

“Let’s go,” he said and passed by her, walking first.

My friend then turned to look at me and gave me thin smile on her face before mumbling, “I’ll come back.”

With that, the two of them disappeared and the two of us were the only ones left behind. “Does your friend have a personality disorder?” I asked curiosly.

Daevon then looked at me before chuckling to himself. He squeezed my nose before saying, “You’re thinking too much!”

I pursed my lips and grabbed another handful of rice to eat. He in turn grabbed a spoonful of food onto my plate.

“Your friend was acting normal earlier; all smiles and laughter until when he saw Azaia, his face turned cold. I pretty sure, he did something to my friend!” I said before putting the food in my mouth.

Daevon only laughed and hug me from my side.

“Believe me or not, honey, there’s only one girl he brought in bed,” he whispered.

“Who?” I asked and put some food in my mouth again.

“That's the worst part honey. He couldn't remember her. He was drunk when it happened and the only thing he has of her was a necklace. It's like a heirloom necklace that he knows the woman will come looking for until he went overseas,” he explained.

I looked at her with a scorn look on my face before gulping down the food I chewed.

“What is that supposed to be? Some wattpad story?” I sarcastically asked which made Daevon laugh.

He’s laughing as if he even knows what a wattpad is. Tsk!

“By the way, you said Andrei told you that I was there and he also knew about his child and Cassandra so how did you end up jumping into conclusion and didn’t know about us?” I asked.

I can feel him gritting his teeth before burying his head on my neck.

“I told him that I don't want any news about you when he called me. I'm scared to confirm that you're with my cousin that’s why I decided to not hear from him.”

“I’m sorry,” he sincerely said.

A narrow smile crossed my lips before I hugged him. It’s my turn to bury my face onto his chest. I understand him. It was just a coincidence that Ivann and I disappeared on the same day. Given the fact that if I was in his position as well, I would end up thinking the same.

“Nothing happened between Ivann and I,” I said. “Ellain planned everything and even admitted it in front of me.”

The moment he said those words, he immediately stiffened and broke from our hug. There was a hint of shock in his expression before it turned dark. He stood up and started cursing everywhere.

“Fuck! Fuck! That bitch!” he said. “Damn it! She stole my four years with you and my baby!” he started cursing again until he weakly sat down and leaned on the wall. He covered his face with his palm before crying.

My heart then ached seeing how he’s reacting. I made my way towards him and sat beside his body. I leaned my head onto his shoulder, trying to calm him down until I felt his arms wrapping around my waist.

We both let go off our worries, pain and sufferings for all these years; leaning on each other.

I just realized at the two months that passed, we tried to make things word again. We wouldn’t be making any progress if we will continue to escape our problems.

We tried to start without engaging ourselves in the past. There were a lot of questions an answered and heartaches but now…I can say that after this, we can start anew.

No more doubts.

No more blaming.

We can now close the past that ruined us apart and begin creating our future together.
