Chapter 83: Chapter 83

My head was in the clouds the whole time since Daevon left my office. I turned my folder away from me before leaning my back on my swivel chair.

Just seeing him earlier already messed me up completely. What if the same thing happened if we were talking about our daughter?

I sighed to myself and slowly opened my eyes. When I looked forward, my eyes automatically widened in surprised as I saw him standing in front of me.

He stared at me with coldness in his eyes while I, averted my gaze.

“W-What are you doing here?” I asked.

That’s how deep my thought were from earlier, I didn’t even notice him coming in.

“I’m the one who should ask you that. What are you doing here?” he asked using a baritonic voice. I tried to calm myself before looking at him the same way he did.

That’s right, Ayesha. Why are you affected by him? He’s nothing to you anymore.

“As you can see, I am the acting CEO here,” I said, stating a fact in front of those dark gray orbs.

He clenched his jaw and came closer to me.

I remained looking at him with a stoic look on my face despite my heart racing out of nervousness.

“Why don’t you work on your husband’s company? I can handle this company alone without your help,” he said.

My forehead knotted.

“Husband?”

I saw how his face darkened for a second before a laugh erupted from his lips.

“Yeah, I almost forgot… you’re actually married to me,” he said.

“Apparently, I’m your husband so what should I call him? Hmm… you’re boyfriend? Your manstress?” he said in sarcastic tone.

Manstress?

Was that a boy version of mistress?

“The fuck are you saying?” I asked, annoyed by his vulgar words.

He smiled at me as if I’m saying such an insanely word. He leaned his face close to mine while on the other hand, I froze in my position; my mind suddenly going blank.

“I’m asking you why don’t you work at my cousin’s company instead?” he asked. His face continued to stare with an expressionless look.

Cousin?

My eyebrow automatically rose in confusion.

Is he talking about Ivann?

I smiled bitterly in my head.

He still believes that we did it and that we’re currently together.

"Why should I?" I blankly asked and distance myself away from him.

It was his turn to crease his forehead and looked at me straight in my eye; trying to act all high and mighty.

Read me, Daevon.

“Are you playing with me, lady?” he cold asked.

It was my turn to laugh at him with disbelief written on my face.

“What do I get if I did play with you, Mr. Castanio?” I asked with a sweet smile on my face.

He gritted his teeth, glaring for a moment until he stopped. A smirk suddenly emerged from his lips. “Still cunning as ever, Ms. Samaniego,” he said. “Aww my bad, it was supposed to be Mrs. Castanio.” After that, he left my office.

Mrs.Castanio..

Mrs.Castanio..

I shut my eyes and face palmed myself.

My first day is so memorable. Fuck shit.

With a few minutes passing by, I fixed my things and went out of my office. I told my secretary that I’ll be out earlier than expected and headed straight to the elevator.

I didn’t have to wait for too long since the elevator just beeped open in front of me. When it swung open, coincidentally my cellphone rang. I searched for it onto my purse and when I looked at the screen, my forehead creased.

It was my mom and so I quickly answered it; thinking it was an emergency. I got inside the elevator without thinking much and held my phone close to my ear.

“Hello?” I greeted as I closed the zipper of my bag.

Mommy!

My lips automatically curled into a smile upon hearing my angelic child’s excited voice.

“Hello, honey.” My voice automatically turned gentle. I hanged my bag across my shoulders and noticed someone pressing on the ground floor button.

Mommy, are you finally coming home?

I smiled again. I can imagine her pouting on the other side of the line.

“Yes, honey. I’m on my way home—” I wasn’t able to finish my words when my eyes darted on the reflection of the elevator.

He's looking at me intently with his burning eyes.

Mommy? Are you still there?

My attention reverted back towards my daughter. I shut my eyes tightly and gulped before opening my eyes again. I lowered my gaze.

“I'm going home honey,” I mumbled in low pitch voice.

My dolls, mommy. You promised me.

“Yes, I'll buy it,” I said.

Thank you, mommy. Take care, I love you so much!

“I love you too. Bye.” After that I already ended the call and hid my cellphone back inside my bag. I didn’t bother looking at him; I’m sure he’s still staring at me with those horrible eyes.

When the door finally swung open, I moved my feet to walk outside the elevator when suddenly I felt a strong force pulling me back. He yanked me towards the wall and trapped me using his arms.
