Chapter 78: Chapter 78
It's been two weeks and I may say I’m barely living.
I removed all of my connection in the Philippines. I need space. I need to forget about everything and heal myself.
“You need to eat, bitch,” Cassandra said when she came inside our room. There were only two rooms in the house and the other one was being used by Azaia.
She was holding a tray of food with worriedness looming her eyes. Even just the glimpse of it, doesn’t seem to help in stimulating any hunger in me at all.
We are a total of three in the house; it’s me, Cassandra and her nurse named Azaia. I was surprised to see her with a big stomach, the first time I arrived. Apparently, one of her twins survived and is growing healthily. When she found out about it, she immediately hired a personal nurse who will help her and I on the other hand couldn’t help but be happy for her, although sadness still loomed my whole being.
I also finally told her about everything that happened to me. She was so surprised when she found out I was already married to Daevon to which she sulked. She did then understand my reason behind it but… I couldn’t tell at all the thing that happened not too long ago; especially with her state right now.
I gently got up from the bed and smiled at her dryly. She put the tray on a side table and caressed my hair gently.
“I understand that you’re hurting but you need to fight, Ayesha,” she said. “Eat and fix yourself, bitch.” After that she left the room.
I took a deep breath and gave out a deep sighed, staring at where she go.
We’re both having weights weighting us down yet here we are fighting. Cassandra managed to hold onto her feet; striving to move forward while on the other hand, there’s me… almost close to giving up everything.
I couldn’t even contact my parents out of fear and disappointment. I wanted to tell the world that nothing happened between me and Ivann but still, the fact that Daevon saw us naked together still haven’t changed. I don’t have any evidences that say we were clean, completely; everything was a set up.
Clouds started forming in my eyes again; I didn’t even wait for my husband to explain himself nor did I explain myself to him. Instead, he’s there; doing what he thought Ivann and I did. Bullshit.
I gazed upward and stopped myself from crying.
Enough.
Two weeks is already too long for me to hurt myself over and over. I need to stand up now. I have a friend who’s there for me—two actually. Even though we only talked to each other for a couple of days, I started to get to know Azaia and I must say she’s real. The look on her eyes says everything; full of concern.
I need to be strong.
I decided to finally eat the food Cassandra gave me. From the side table, I grabbed it and positioned it in front of me before opening the lid. As I did so, even before I could grab the spoon and fork, a foul smell engulfed my nose. I felt something wanting to get out of my system and so I rushed towards the washroom and vomited several times.
I heard Cassandra and Azaia rushed towards my direction and helped me by caressing my back.
Buds of sweat were forming on my forehead as I finally finished. I leaned on Cassandra due to my weakened state, feeling a little dizzy.
“Gargle first,” Azaia said and helped me get up. She gave me a glass of water and I took it. I quickly followed her instruction before finally feeling a little better.
Cassandra was quiet the whole time until I sat on the sofa while Azaia stared at me.
“Are you okay?” Cassandra asked when I was now sitting comfortably. She wiped off the sweat on my forehead and neck before looking directly at me.
I opened my mouth, “The food you served me was probably spoiled already. The smell… I thought it was rotten,” I said.
Azaia shook her head. “Sorry but it’s not. I just cooked it just earlier for both of you,” Azaia said looking at me.
I gulped as I saw the two of them staring at me with such a serious look on her face. I switched my eyes back and forth, not knowing what’s up.
“O…’kay? Is something wrong?” I asked, furrowing my brows.
The two of them looked at each other for a second before I felt Cassandra’s hand touching mine and squeezed it gently.
“Ayesha, we think you're pregnant,” she said that made my world stop.
Ayesha we think you're pregnant.
Ayesha we think you're pregnant.
Ayesha we think you're pregnant.
Those words repeatedly echoed through my head. I suddenly remembered that I didn’t have my menstruation at all for the past month. My hand automatically roamed to touch my womb; thinking of a growing child inside.
It feels like the blood in my body left me as I realize that they might be right. I didn’t even realize it when Azaia already left and came back to hand me two pregnant tests.
“Use it. We need to confirm,” she said with concern in her voice.
My hands were trembling as I accepted it. I gulped and looked at the two of them again. They were both smiling at me with a thin line across their face.
They helped me got up and escorted me towards bathroom. After several seconds, I waited for myself to pee and poured a little amount on the thing I was holding. As I turned to look at it and saw the result of the kit, my lips parted and tears started dripping again. Those two then came rushing inside and helped me to calm down.
They looked at me and the test kit atop of the sink before embracing me into a tight hug.
“Shhh... Everything will be okay Ayesha. We are here. We're going to support you physically, emotionally and mentally,” Cassandra said, reassuring me while Azaia nodded.
I shook my head, my voice stuttering.
“I-I don’t know who the father is…” I confessed.
It’s only my own conclusion that nothing happened between Ivann and me but there’s no way to confirm it.
I know the two of them stopped for a moment upon hearing those words but she held me tighter and kissed me on my temple.
“We should not care about the father, Ayesha. “Let’s care about the baby first,” Cassandra mumbled.
After hearing what she said, I calmed down for a bit. She’s right. The most important think right now is the child growing inside of me.
“You’re not planning on killing that child, right?” Azaia asked to which I quickly shook my head.
It felt like they were scared I would do something like that and so they breathe out a sigh of relief.
“The child didn’t do anything to me. He shouldn’t suffer with whatever is happening,” I said and broke from their hug.
They looked at me with the same smiled and wiped off the tears in my eyes.
“You really need to fix yourself now, Ayesha,” Cassandra said. I only nodded.
My eyes darted slowly towards my friend’s belly; it was big and round. A smile crept into my face as I caressed it gently.
After a couple of months, I will also have the same baby bump.
“Take a bath, girl. The baby will probably turn smelly as well,” Azaia teased as we all giggled to ourselves.
“Thank you,” I mouthed sincerely to the two of them.
They smiled at me and pat my shoulder.
“Who would be helping us if we don’t have each other?” Cassandra said.
“Please write a list of what I might buy for the time being,” I embarrassing asked her to which she chuckled and went out for a second.
“With 5% interest,” I heard her say from outside the bathroom.
Azaia and I only laughed before she stood up to leave as well.
"Go clean yourself,” she said. “It looks like the thing you don’t like is fish. Tsk! I’ll have to cook again. Why are pregnant woman so sensitive!”
A smile crept into my lips secretly as I caressed my stomach.
You're my new hope in this wrecked life.
