Chapter 73: Chapter 73

It’s been three days since we last saw each other and it was at that time when we had adobo for dinner. An emergency occurred in France and Daevon had no choice but to book an immediate flight towards there; concerning one of their factories.

I was busy encoding some works on my computer when my phone beeped. I checked to see who it was on the screen and the name that engulfed my view was none other than a man’s name.

Ivann

Sorry, it’s been a long time since I texted. I’ve been busy at my dad’s company but like I said, can we talk? Don’t worry, I mean no harm. I just want to give you something and maybe perhaps we can call it closure. I sighed to myself after finishing his message. If you think of it like this, Ivann was the most hurt out of the three of us so knowing that I can help, I’ll try to be as kind and understand as I can. I also want him to start a new now and move on. It’s probably the time for us to finally settle everything once and for all and bid our old selves goodbye.

Okay. When and where?

I replied. I was just about to put my phone again when I quickly received another message. A dry smile engulfed my lips. He hasn’t changed at all. He still waits for me to reply.

: What about dinner later? I'll pick you up. I heard you're working at MC building.

; Okay. Pick me up at 6pm.

: Okay. Thank you, Ayesha. :)

; No prob.

I ended the text and went back to work. A few hours later, when I checked my phone again, I didn’t realized that time slipped by quickly. I sulked thinking my husband is so busy arranging everything on France. I checked our thread of conversation earlier morning and the last message I received was:

I miss you, honey. I have a surprise for you. Keep safe always. By the way, I just wanted to tell you that if ever you message me after this, I won’t be able to answer quickly. I’ll be busy. Thank you and I love you.

I started typing on my phone. I wanted to tell him that I’ll be meeting Ivann one last time. I know he’ll get mad knowing how possessive he is but I need to do this. Ivann needs a closure so that everyone will finally move on from the past. I also don’t want the two of them to feud anymore.

Hi honey! How are you? By the way, I'll go see Ivann later. Please don't be mad. I just want us to end properly and have a good closure. Take care always there. I love you.

After that I hid my phone on my bag. I checked my wall clock only to find out that it's nearly six o’ clock in the evening already that’s why I fixed all of the papers in my desk. Usually around four-thirty to five o’ clock close to evening, I’d be home now but ever since Daevon left to go to France, I decided to stay up for a little overtime to entertain myself. Whenever I come home alone, I just feel a little sad and lonely knowing that he isn’t here unlike on the office when I get to focus everything on my work.

“I miss you, honey,” I complained to myself.

I fixed myself in front of the mirror and only retouched the light make up upon my face. I didn’t bother doing a better job knowing that Ivann might just misunderstand it. It would be hard if he starts hoping for something inevitable and will never happen.

As I was finished looking at myself on the mirror, I heard my phone finally beeping. I grabbed from the inside of my bag.

Ivann

I'm here at the lobby. Take your time, I'll wait for you.

After reading what he texted me, I put my phone back in my bag and went out of my office. I rode the elevator and clicked the ground floor button. I even get to greet some of my employees on their way home as well. I guess they also stayed a little late. When I now arrived at the place, I checked to see where he was waiting and spotted him at the waiting area.

We gave each other a thin smile on our face before going our way out of the building. He escorted me towards his car and even ushered the door open for me. I smiled and nodded at him before entering the passenger’s seat. In return, he made his way to walk towards the driver’s seat and sat down before starting the engine of his car.

Silence was the only thing that engulfed the two of us on the way to wherever we going to eat for dinner. After a while, I saw him chuckling to himself as he scratched his head.

“I didn’t expect it to be this awkward,” he mumbled before taking a peek on me. I also laughed lightly.

“Yes, it’s quite new,” I responded before looking straight at the road.

“We used to talk a lot when we were together back then. Everything’s really changed, huh?” he said, looking as if he was reminiscing back to the good times.

I smiled before shaking my head. I’m happy because at least we can still talk like this even though everything fell apart between us. I was imagining how we’d feud every time we’d see each other; insulting, pulling each other down or what not but… I guess both of us did grow up. And in the end, I’m already in love with somebody else.

It probably took us a few more minutes when we arrived at the same familiar place. I creased my forehead, turning to look at him, although he only looked at me with a smile on his face.

He escorted me outside the car and made our way towards the restaurant. As we stood from the outside of the establishment, something flashed through my eyes; memories of the past. A genuine smile crept into my face; my instinct tells me he brought me here for a reason.

This was our favorite Italian Restaurant. We always visited this place in the past so it holds a lot of sentimental value for me.

As we made our way in, one of the staff immediately welcomed us. They assisted and helped us find a suitable table for two. I decided to take up the offer and sat down at the farthest corner of the room and managed to order the same thing via the menu given by the waiter. We ordered two steaks and a bottle of wine to satisfy ourselves.

After all, this would be the last.
