Chapter 87: Chapter 87

Walking into the hospital, Flora immediately felt uncomfortable, fearful, and a little reluctant. Although she kept recalling the instances of Maxwell's abuse, she still felt that this child was innocent and shouldn't be killed before it even formed!

After registering, Flora hesitantly followed Chloe to the third floor, the obstetrics and gynecology department. Her steps were hesitant, each one feeling heavy. As she passed by a delivery room, her gaze was drawn to the heartwarming scene inside.

There was a woman who had just given birth, surrounded by her family, cooing over the newborn baby in her arms. They looked so happy and their blissful expression made Flora envious.

Flora, who had never been moved by such scenes before, suddenly felt moved today. Maybe a woman's maternal instincts were more delicate. Unable to resist, she stopped and peered through the door, silently gazing at the heartwarming scene.

She unconsciously placed a hand on her belly, imagining herself as the woman with the sweet smile, being able to hold her own baby, kiss her, and raise her with her family!

However, she knew she was different from that happy woman. She had a husband, parents, and a bunch of relatives around her. As for herself... she had nothing. The only person who loved her, Henry, could only think of her but couldn't see her. Mrs. White and Mr. White didn't consider her as a family at all!

Chloe noticed her thoughts and pulled her hand, urging, "Come on, we need to get in line." She knew Flora was starting to hesitate. But for the sake of her future, she had to pull her away from the delivery room, away from the influence of others.

Lying on the examination bed, Flora looked at the small fleshy object displayed on the computer screen. It was hard to imagine that this was what a person looked like before they formed. How miraculous!

"Get up," the doctor said mechanically, arranging the instruments. "The fetus is healthy. Are you sure you want to terminate?"

Flora hesitated, staring at the doctor's expressionless face, opening her mouth but unable to make a sound. Did she want to terminate? Did she really want to terminate? An agonizing hesitation...

Only when the doctor began to grow impatient and nodded did she respond with a trembling voice, "Yes, I'm sure."

The doctor didn't say anything and picked up a brush to fill out a form, checked a box, and handed it to her, saying, "Go to the first floor to pay, and after that, go to operating room 6 to get in line."

"Oh," Flora mumbled dazedly, clutching the payment form and walking out of the examination room. Seeing Chloe making a phone call at the end of the corridor, she had to go to the first floor to pay herself.

She took a deep breath and walked in a disoriented manner towards the first floor. Since she had arrived in a zombie-like state, she had not remembered how to go downstairs. Stupidly, she wandered around the vast third floor, unable to find the stairs or an elevator to go down for a long time.

As she passed by a department, Flora unexpectedly heard a familiar, sweet voice drifting out from inside, saying, "Maxwell, I've told you, I'm not sick. Now will you believe me?"

Flora froze, instinctively stopping and looking inside. Chiyoko?! It's Chiyoko! The woman who should have been locked on the third floor of the Smith Family mansion! She looked refreshed, beautiful, and happily leaning on someone.

And that someone—! When Flora made eye contact with his piercing gaze, her heart skipped a beat, and she was stunned!

Maxwell stared at her expressionlessly. From the moment Flora stopped, he had seen her and was also surprised by her sudden appearance. It seemed that this city of W was indeed small, as he unexpectedly encountered her once again!

Beside Maxwell, Chiyoko followed his gaze to the door and also froze. Flora White?! The woman Maxwell had been searching for? How could she appear in front of Maxwell again?!

After a good ten seconds of being stunned, Flora began to step back, then turned around and ran back the way she came. Maxwell wasn't in a hurry to chase her back to the Smith Family mansion, but seeing her flee so urgently, something stirred in his heart, and he quickly left Chiyoko behind and chased after her with big strides!

"Maxwell," Chiyoko said anxiously, trying to catch up, but she couldn't even grab onto Maxwell's clothes. She had to stop, feeling angry and jealous, glaring fiercely in the direction they disappeared in.

Flora sprinted all the way, listening to the footsteps behind her getting closer and closer, her heart pounding in panic. Finally, the heavens smiled upon her and she found the stairs leading downstairs, rushing down at almost flying speed. She scared the people going up and down the stairs, causing them to scream and flee to the side!

"Flora, you're making me chase after you again! Stop running!" Maxwell yelled angrily at her back, seeing her perilous way of going downstairs and worrying that she might fall. This damn woman always seemed to make him chase after her, always running in front of him!

Because the hospital was crowded, his big stature didn't allow him to display his agility. Otherwise, he would have simply bumped people into the morgue. To avoid such a tragedy, he had to slow down his pace.

Flora sprinted to the entrance of the hospital while fearing him for some reason! He had already said he would let her go, that he wouldn't take her back to the Smith Family mansion! Was it because she was worried that he knew about her pregnancy? Maybe... yes, that was it!

As Flora ran, she tore the payment slip in her hand into pieces. Fluttering like blossoms, the fragments scattered on the ground. Then, she suddenly felt a tightening around her waist as her body was pulled into a broad embrace.
