Chapter 65: Chapter 65

Inside the Smith Family mansion, Chiyoko carried the carefully prepared coffee and took a deep breath, summoning her courage as she walked towards the study. She knocked softly on the door and entered after receiving permission.

Chiyoko stood in front of Maxwell's desk and softly called out, "Maxwell..."

"If there's nothing important, shut up and leave immediately," Maxwell didn't even raise his head, coldly retorting. He detested hearing her voice and even detested breathing the same air that carried her presence.

"Maxwell, please don't be like this," Chiyoko pitifully pleaded, her eyes shimmering with tears that evoked tenderness.

Unfortunately, Maxwell couldn't see it. He continued speaking in an icy tone, "If you insist on staying in the Smith Family and refuse to return to Japan, then please behave and stay in your room. Don't appear in front of me unless necessary! Also, move out of the room you're currently staying in!"

That room was previously occupied by Flora, and subconsciously, he didn't want Chiyoko to occupy it. He was confident that Flora would return here someday!

"Maxwell!" Chiyoko pouted her cheeks and hesitated. Gathering her courage, she spoke, "Aren't you afraid that I'll go back to Japan and tell my uncle how you treated me all these years? Aren't you afraid that my uncle will destroy the entire Smith Family?"

She didn't want to intimidate Maxwell like this, and she wouldn't reveal everything to Itou Tokugawa because she truly loved him. With the power of the Yota Gang, it would be effortless to deal with the Smith Family!

After hearing her words, Maxwell did have some reaction. He looked up at her, sneering, "If I were afraid, I wouldn't have let you go back to Japan, Chiyoko Tokugawa. I'm giving you a chance for revenge."

"No," Chiyoko anxiously shook her head and hurriedly approached him, hugging him as she sobbed softly, "Maxwell... You know that I would never do such a thing. You know that I can't bear to see you hurt. I love you so much!"

Even if he imprisoned her and treated her coldly, her love for him remained as deep as ever. Even if she were to die, she wouldn't let anyone from the Yota Gang harm him! But how could she win back his heart?

"Thank you," Maxwell gently pulled her away from him and stared at her as he spoke indifferently, "But let me give you some advice. It's best for you to leave the Smith Family, or else one day, I might lock you back on the third floor again."

Chiyoko leaned in and hugged him, sniffing softly, calmly saying, "No matter what you do to me, I will not leave the Smith Family. I want to stay here, I want to wait for you to love me again, I want you to fulfill the engagement and take me as your wife..."

Maxwell held her jaw and lifted her face slightly, glaring at her through gritted teeth, "Let me tell you, that's never going to happen in this lifetime. So I advise you to give up on this idea and get out of the Smith Family!"

"If I could give up, I would have done it a long time ago," Chiyoko murmured with a bitter smile. Why couldn't she just let go of him? This was a question she had always wanted to know the answer to!

At that moment, there were a few knocks on the study room door. Then Nancy entered, seeing Chiyoko sitting on Maxwell's lap, her hands wrapped around his neck in an intimate manner. Her heart skipped a beat, she lowered her head and said, "Big Young Master, there's a guest downstairs. They said they wanted to see you."

Nancy kept her head down, pretending not to see Chiyoko's triumphant smile. Her heart was in chaos, thinking that the relationship between Chiyoko and Maxwell was improving, and it seemed like she was in trouble!

"Who is it?" Maxwell asked, slightly annoyed.

"It's Mrs. Davis, she just returned from Germany yesterday and came to visit the Smith Family mansion today. She said she hadn't seen you in many years and wanted to see you," Nancy said respectfully.

"Alright, I'll go down immediately," Maxwell said coolly. As Nancy turned to leave, he abruptly pulled Chiyoko away from his embrace and got up, walking towards the study room door.

Downstairs, Mrs. Smith led Mrs. Davis as they casually toured the expansive and luxurious living room. Despite being close to sixty, Mrs. Davis still looked young, with a well-proportioned figure and a fitted long dress, exuding an air of elegance and nobility.

"Such a beautiful mansion, it's a pity your elder brother and sister-in-law didn't have the fortune to enjoy it..." Mrs. Davis sighed, her tone filled with regret.

Mrs. Smith also chuckled wryly and said helplessly, "That's fate, there's nothing anyone can do to change it."

"Fortunately, the Smith Family has you, and the children have been able to grow up healthy and successful," Mrs. Davis said with a smile.

Suddenly, the sound of steady footsteps echoed from the staircase. Mrs. Davis looked towards Maxwell, who was slowly descending the stairs, and a look of pleasant surprise appeared on her face.

"Is this... Maxwell? Or is it Oliver?" Mrs. Davis scrutinized Maxwell, unable to take her eyes off him.

Maxwell flashed her a charming smile and said, "Hello, Mrs. Davis, I am Maxwell!"

"Yes, Oliver is currently in England, Richard is studying elsewhere, and Robin is at school. They can only come back in the evening," Mrs. Smith chuckled and noticed that Mrs. Davis' gaze lingered on Maxwell for a long time, with a hint of an unfamiliar expression. She couldn't quite understand that expression!

Finally, Mrs. Davis smiled and said, "So it's Maxwell, all grown up now. I remember when you were barely a foot tall. Every time I came, Oliver and you would find ways to play tricks on people. There was one time when your mother caught both of you, and you both had to kneel in the corner for an hour."

"Is that so? I don't have much recollection," Maxwell smiled and led Mrs. Davis to sit on the sofa.

He only remembered that he and Oliver used to get into trouble frequently, but because they caused so much trouble, he couldn't remember this particular incident.

"Maxwell, do you still remember Mrs. Davis? She used to be your parents' best friend," Mrs. Smith asked.

Maxwell nodded and said a polite remark, "Of course, I remember. Mrs. Davis still looks so young, hardly changed from when I saw her as a child."

It was a polite remark, but it was also true, making Mrs. Davis beaming with joy.

"Mrs. Davis, are you planning to stay in America for a while?" Maxwell asked politely.

Mrs. Davis nodded, "Yes, I am. I plan to stay in America for a while to handle some business affairs. It's a coincidence that I can also spend some time here." As she said this, her smile became somewhat unusual, especially when she looked at Maxwell. It was a smiling face that made one feel suffocated.
