Chapter 55: Chapter 55
"Who can catch up with my 'BMW'?" theCC beautiful woman patted the nearly scrapped truck and spoke arrogantly. Seeing how worried Flora was, she showed some mercy and said, "Remember, you promised to repay me, come sit in the front!"
Flora was overjoyed and clumsily climbed down from the container and then struggled to climb into the passenger seat of the car. The beautiful woman tried to start the engine for a while, but the car wouldn't start. Flora's excited face instantly fell.
The beautiful woman glanced at her and said impatiently, "What's the rush? Warming up before starting is a must for my precious baby."
Flora wiped away the cold sweat on her face, and just as she was about to collapse, the car finally ignited and hit the road, which brought some peace to her heart.
The car ran on the road for over one hour and finally arrived at a relatively remote village. It stopped in front of an old-style courtyard.
The beautiful woman got out of the car and shouted, "Mom! I brought a nanny back, come out and see if she fits our taste!"
Flora stood uncomfortably by the door, hearing a woman's voice from inside saying, "Forget it, find me a job instead of a nanny." The voice fell, and a woman in her fifties walked out of the house. After seeing Flora, she stared and exclaimed, "You brought a nanny back for me?"
"Of course, it's free, a gift from heaven," the beautiful woman laughed while devouring the dinner prepared by the woman, leaning on the table.
"Oh, you're bleeding," the observant woman noticed Flora's injured knee and quickly went back to the room to get the first aid kit. With a smile, she said, "Come here, girl. Let me clean your wound for you."
"Thank you, Madam," Flora gratefully said, allowing the woman to lead her to a chair and gently tend to her wound. A warm feeling rushed up from the bottom of her heart. She didn't expect her luck to be so good, to encounter such a kind woman.
The beautiful woman stared at Flora as she ate, "What's your name?"
Flora hesitated for a moment but truthfully told her, "Flora White."
"Where do you live? What's your occupation? Why are you being chased? Did you do something shady?" The beautiful woman bombarded Flora with a series of questions.
Flora was taken aback for a moment, then lowered her head and spoke with bitterness, "I don't have a home, nor an occupation, nor have I done anything shady. I've just gotten on the wrong side of some people, so they're chasing me. Thank you for saving me. If there's any way I can repay you, just say it, as long as it's something I can do."
"Does that include selling yourself?" the beautiful woman quickly teased.
Flora was startled and quickly shook her head, "No, that's not included."
"No sincerity," the beautiful woman hummed and lowered her head to continue eating.
The middle-aged woman glared at the beautiful woman and scolded, "She has already suffered enough. Stop putting her down." Then, she turned to Flora and smiled, "Don't mind her. She probably hasn't eaten yet. Sit down and let's eat together."
"Thank you," Flora gratefully said, realizing that she still didn't know the names of the two. She slightly moved her lips, revealing a smile, and asked, "May I know how to address both of you?"
"My name is Chloe Brook, you can just call me Chloe. As for my mom, you can call her Auntie Grace," the beautiful woman replied.
Chloe, known as Charming Chloe since her school days because of her beautiful and alluring appearance, has been called that by colleagues and friends until now. As long as she doesn't speak, she appears to be an elegant young lady, but once she opens her mouth, that image is shattered.
Apart from being a minor minister in a five-star hotel, she also likes to write novels online to earn some money. Sometimes she works as a temporary driver. In short, she's willing to do anything that brings in money! She aspires to take her mother out of this village and live in a tall building in the city.
After dinner, Aunt Grace led Flora into a freshly tidied room and smiled, "Flora, just make yourself at home here. The room is a bit simple, please don't mind."
"Auntie, I'm already so grateful that you're willing to take me in. Even if I have to sleep on the floor, I'm satisfied," Flora said. She never expected that there were still such kind people in the world, and she happened to encounter them.
"Don't say such polite words. You're injured and tired. Rest early," Aunt Grace said with concern and then walked out.
After watching her disappearing silhouette at the door, Flora took a deep breath and hid under the bed, looking around the simple yet clean room. The scene from tonight returned to her mind. She didn't know if Chiyoko was dead, and she didn't know how Maxwell would react when he found out she had escaped.
He must be furious, he would never go easy on her. Would he send people to find her and bring her back? It seemed that she had to be more careful.
At the Smith Family mansion, Maxwell, who had rushed back overnight, stepped out of his car and strode into the house. Staring at Nancy with an anxious expression, he asked, "What the hell happened? Why did Flora run away?"
"Maxwell, go and check on Chiyoko first. She's badly injured," Mrs. Smith said. In her eyes, Flora running away was a great thing, but Miss Chiyoko must not be in danger.
Maxwell was taken aback and stared at Mrs. Smith, asking, "How did she get hurt?"
Chiyoko, who had never had any accidents, was injured. Flora ran away. It seemed that a lot of things had happened tonight, and he had missed them all.
"Oh, it's all my fault. I shouldn't have let Flora serve her dinner. I don't know what happened, but Flora smashed Chiyoko's head with a vase. By the time we went upstairs, Chiyoko had already fainted on the floor," Mrs. Smith said helplessly.
Maxwell furrowed his brow, waiting for them to continue.
After a moment of silence, Nancy had to speak up, "When Flora heard me say that you love Miss Chiyoko very much, she was afraid of your punishment. She pretended to be sick. When the driver and I took her to the hospital, she jumped off the overpass and escaped. We searched for her for a long time but couldn't find her whereabouts."
"Damn it!"
Maxwell roared, causing Nancy to tremble with fear.
No one knew if Maxwell's angry shout was directed at her or Flora.
Only Maxwell himself knew that he was cursing at Flora, that woman who didn't know her place and dared to escape multiple times. It was simply unbearable!
