Chapter 38: Chapter 38
Maxwell released her, turned around, and sat on the sofa in the middle of the bedroom. Once again, with a commanding tone, he said, "Come here!"
His sharp gaze fixed on Flora. Proud as he was, he disliked seeing anyone daring to defy him, especially the woman before him!
Flora stood still, not reacting. She knew that being called over was never a good sign. Suddenly remembering the last time Joshua had called her over, the scene where he pervertedly forced her to undress for him, she still had lingering fear. She was afraid of hearing such commands!
Maxwell's patience had reached its limit. Just before he erupted, Flora hesitantly walked over. She stood in front of him, looking resolute, waiting for his orders.
One of Maxwell's arms rested on the edge of the sofa, and the other hand took the TV remote to turn it on. He spoke casually, "Hurry up and change the dressing on my wound, I need to go out."
Flora was stunned. Change the dressing? He called her over just to have her change the dressing? In a mix of surprise and disbelief, she stared at Maxwell and asked naively, "Just changing the dressing...?" She didn't believe it! She couldn't believe that this man would let her off so easily!
"What else do you want to do? Continue what we didn't finish last night?" Maxwell raised his head, sneering at her.
Flora's face instantly flushed, and she hurriedly turned around to fetch the first aid kit from the cabinet.
After pleasing Maxwell and feeling that her life was no longer in danger, Flora returned to her bedroom with relief. She quickly freshened up and headed downstairs before Nancy could show any signs of displeasure.
Betty, with red eyes, was shocked to see Flora. She exclaimed, "Flora! Are you okay? How could you be okay?" Speaking, she circled Flora in disbelief, examining her from head to toe.
"I'm fine," Flora shook her head, though she had come dangerously close to not being fine.
"Did Big Young Master hit you?" Betty asked in amazement. "Last night, when I saw Big Young Master go upstairs, his face changed color with anger. How could he possibly let you off?"
"Because I managed to knock him down first," Flora said with a hint of sadness on her face.
Although she was now safe, her thoughts were still with Henry. She kept pondering ways to rescue him. She even considered whether she should submit to Maxwell, win his favor, and then plead for Henry's release.
However, she doubted whether a person as perverse as Maxwell could experience happiness. In over a month, she had never seen him smile, not even once!
"What?" Betty couldn't hear what she was muttering and asked curiously.
"Nothing, let's get to work," Flora shook her head and sighed, walking towards the kitchen.
While helping the chef set the breakfast table, Mrs. Smith and Joshua were the first to arrive. Naturally, they didn't have a pleasant expression for Flora, but she was used to it, mechanically preparing their breakfast.
"Flora, used to being a noble lady in the White Family, you must be very uncomfortable here," Joshua sneered at Flora, his tone filled with mockery.
Mrs. Smith coldly chuckled, "Need we even ask? Of course, she's uncomfortable."
Flora ignored the mother-son duo's banter and pulled out chairs for the incoming Maxwell and Robin.
Robin, holding Flora's hand, smiled and said, "Flora, you'll play video games with me later. Big Brother has approved!"
Flora glanced at Maxwell and uncomfortably withdrew her hand from Robin's grasp.
Mrs. Smith, dissatisfied with Robin's attitude towards Flora, whispered reproachfully, "Robin! You are the master of the Smith Family. How can you get so close to a servant?"
Flora felt a chill. Mrs. Smith was openly insulting her.
A servant?
She wanted to question Maxwell loudly, asking why he, a nobleman, would get intimate with her, a mere servant. Wasn't he afraid of tarnishing his prestigious status?
"Yes, Little Young Master, don't always mingle with servants. It's best not to even touch their fingers. That way, you won't disgrace your noble status, Little Young Master," Flora said with a mocking smile.
She could feel a piercing gaze filled with icy hostility coming from Maxwell's direction, so she lowered her eyes.
Maxwell glared at her with suppressed anger. How dare she mock him like this?
Robin, looking confused, asked Maxwell, "Big Brother, what master and servant thing are they talking about?"
Maxwell didn't answer his question. Instead, he sat down on one of the chairs.
Mrs. Smith, noticing the wound on Maxwell's forehead, exclaimed, "Maxwell, what happened to your head? Did Chiyoko hurt you?"
Flora was surprised and quickly looked at Maxwell. He remained calm, taking a sip of milk before speaking.
Mrs. Smith continued to exclaim, "That woman killed Mimi and injured you. I think she's gone mad!"
Flora finally understood. Chiyoko, mentioned by Mrs. Smith, was the woman on the third floor. Her heart pounded, and she stared at Maxwell. If he revealed the truth, Mrs. Smith would surely not let her off!
Maxwell sensed Flora's tension and concern. His lips curled into a mocking smile, and he chuckled, "It's okay, just consider it being bitten by a mad dog. It will heal soon."
Flora was infuriated, unsure whether to be grateful for not exposing her or to resent him for calling her a mad dog. Suppressing her inner anger, she whispered, "I'll go call Young Master Robin down for breakfast." After saying that, she walked towards the dining room door, avoiding an embarrassing situation.
As she left, she heard Mrs. Smith sigh, "Maxwell, you should release Chiyoko. Send her back to Japan; it's been over a year of punishment for her..."
Upon hearing this, Flora instinctively slowed down her pace. Unfortunately, Nancy happened to come downstairs at that moment. Lowered her head, Flora headed upstairs. When she reached Oliver's bedroom door, she knocked a few times, and the door opened, but it wasn't Oliver who appeared. It was a young maid who was tidying up the room.
Confused, she looked at Flora and asked, "Flora, what can I do for you?"
"Is Second Young Master not here? I came to call him downstairs for breakfast," Flora asked, peering inside.
"Second Young Master flew to England early this morning. Are you just coming to call him for breakfast now?" The maid rolled her eyes irritably, then lowered her head and continued cleaning the room.
Flew to England? Flora wondered, why he left in such a hurry. Could it be that he also knew about the incident on the third floor yesterday and felt too embarrassed to stay, so he ran away? Flora shook her head, impressed by her imagination, and turned to leave.
