Chapter 33: Chapter 33
Oliver had already guessed that this was the question she wanted to ask, ever since he saw her looking at the pictures on the computer earlier. So he wasn't surprised, and he calmly replied, "I don't know the secret behind it, but it's a necklace that has caused quite a stir in the underworld. So, I advise you once again, it's best to hand over the necklace to me to avoid unnecessary trouble."
"If you don't know its meaning, why do you insist on obtaining it?" Flora didn't understand.
"I can't tell you that," Oliver said, staring at her. "Just remember that it's a curse, and as I've said before, I'm willing to bear that curse for you."
"I didn't lie to you. I don't know where I put the necklace. I had no idea it held so many secrets, so..."
"So you just lost it haphazardly?" Oliver frowned and then asked, "Tell me, where did you get it from?"
"My...my classmate gave it to me. She didn't know anything about it either, she just gave it to me," Flora answered honestly. Not wanting him to continue questioning her, she quickly said, "Since you don't want to reveal too much to me, I won't ask anymore. Goodnight, Second Young Master."
Finishing her words, Flora walked briskly towards the door, leaving Oliver alone in contemplation.
The necklace wasn't in her possession? Was it true or false?
He began to regret not forcibly taking the necklace when he first met her. Little did he know that in just over a month, the necklace would be nowhere to be found.
As Flora exited Oliver's room, she picked up the laundry basket placed at the door and continued delivering clothes. When she reached the door of Joshua's bedroom, she raised her right hand but couldn't bring herself to knock on the door.
The bizarre scenes of Joshua's almost psychotic behavior that day replayed in her mind, and with a lingering fear, she dared not appear in front of him again, let alone face his aggressiveness.
Dropping her hand, Flora turned her back to the door, contemplating what to do. Just then, a maid delivering coffee walked by, and upon seeing Flora, greeted her in a hushed voice.
"Betty, where are you going?" Flora asked, grabbing her hand.
"I'm delivering milk to Little Young Master," Betty pointed to the tray of milk with her chin and smiled.
Delighted, Flora took the tray from her and said, "I'll deliver the milk for you. Can you help me by taking these clothes into Young Master Joshua's room?"
Seeing the pleading look on Flora's face, Betty, aware of Joshua's dissatisfaction with Flora, reluctantly nodded, deciding to assist her. In the Smith Family mansion, nobody wanted to get close to Young Master Joshua, who had become irritable and prone to fits of rage.
Flora was well aware of this, so she was grateful for Betty's help.
After knocking on the door and entering, Betty, carrying the laundry basket, found Joshua lazily sprawled on the sofa watching TV. He glared at her and bellowed, "Where's Flora White!?"
Lowering her head, Betty hastily explained, "Flora hasn't fully recovered, so she couldn't bring your clothes." Despite Joshua's current state, Betty was still afraid, knowing she couldn't provoke him.
Standing at the doorway, Flora listened to Joshua's yelling, sighed softly, and silently congratulated herself for not going inside. Otherwise, it wouldn't be as simple as being scolded. Holding the milk, she walked toward Robin's room. After knocking for a while with no response, Flora decided to push the door open on her own.
The little guy was thoroughly enjoying himself playing video games, not even bothering to glance at the doorway.
Flora walked over, grabbed the back of his shirt, and exclaimed, "Robin! All day long, it's either playing or eating with you. No wonder you can't recognize a few German words!"
"Flora! Let go of me!" Robin struggled while manipulating the controller.
"Your milk is here. If you don't drink it, it'll get cold!" Flora didn't release him; instead, she lifted him to the table and forcefully turned off his video game console.
"Hey! Why are you turning off my stuff?" Robin protested.
Flora innocently shrugged and said, "Madam's orders. I must watch you, Little Young Master, finish his milk before leaving. Do you want me to stay here watching you play video games? And your lousy skills, I don't even enjoy watching!"
"My lousy skills?" Robin pointed at his nose with his finger and grumbled, "Your skills are better than mine?"
"Of course!" Flora placed the milk in front of him and said, "Little Young Master, please. After you finish, I'll collect the cup and go downstairs."
Robin glanced at the milk and said, "I won't drink it! Unless you beat me, I won't drink it. Let you be scolded by Aunt for nothing!" After speaking, he smirked at Flora, displaying the typical attitude of the Smith Family. He confidently reopened the gaming console, determined not to give up until he defeated Flora.
Seeing that he had taken the bait, Flora regretted provoking him earlier. It wasn't that she was afraid of losing to him but more concerned about Nancy discovering her playing video games here. Nonetheless, this kid was not planning to let her off easily.
The little guy was quite confident, but she wondered if he could protect her! However...
Curiously, she asked, "Why?"
"Big Brother likes surprise inspections. Quick! It's starting!" Robin said and swiftly took control.
Flora, called out like that, hurriedly focused on the game. This was crucial for sending him away quickly, so she had to make an effort!
"Flora! Can't you slow down?" Robin, not expecting Flora to be so skilled, shouted in frustration.
"There's no room for mercy on the battlefield. Winner takes all, loser suffers all, Robin! I'll make you admit defeat!" Excited, Flora forgot about sadness and pain, as if she had returned to the Flora of over a month ago.
