Chapter 22: Chapter 22

"Aunt, don't say that. Aren't these things our responsibility?" Oliver comforted with a smile.

Mrs. Smith sighed lightly, patting Oliver's hand apologetically, "I feel bad saying this, but the Smith Family is in trouble, and it's not right for you brothers to be affected too. Oliver, you suddenly came back, won't the UK branch be in chaos?"

"Aunt, don't worry. I have arranged for someone to take care of the UK side. I will go back in a few days, and there won't be any issues." For his aunt, who was closer to him than his mother, Oliver would do anything without hesitation.

Ever since their biological parents passed away, it had always been their uncle and aunt who took care of them, providing them with a privileged living environment. This sudden incident had already burdened them with enough self-blame, feeling that they had not taken good care of their uncle's family.

"Oh, it's all because your uncle fell ill at such an inopportune time, which gave the White Family a chance to make their move. The White Family truly deserves no less than death!" Mrs. Smith mentioned the sorrowful matter, and her kind smile disappeared as soon as they arrived home. In just a few months, the Smith Family had encountered such a great disaster. How long could she maintain the smile she had been trying so hard to put on?

"Mom, one day I will make the White Family pay!" Joshua said menacingly, a cruel expression appearing on his face. He had become disabled, his father had suddenly passed away, and the Smith Family Group was suddenly severely affected, all orchestrated by the White Family! He would make them pay a hundred times more painfully than he did!

The woman he once loved deep in his heart had now become the object of his resentment!

However, everyone present knew that Joshua was merely venting his anger verbally because he didn't have the ability to bring down the White Family. Dealing with business matters was never Joshua's expertise!

Oliver raised his large hand and patted his shoulder to comfort him, "Joshua, don't worry. Brother Maxwell will help you reclaim everything."

"Yes, Joshua, you should believe that Maxwell is capable of doing that." Mrs. Smith finally smiled with relief when Maxwell was mentioned. "And Oliver, I trust that with the strength of you two brothers, the Smith Family Group will come back, and the White Family will pay the price."

Oliver just nodded and took a sip of the coffee in his cup. Mrs. Smith looked at Oliver. Although she was relieved that the brothers could seek justice for the Smith Family, Oliver was more easygoing in his demeanor. He acted thoughtfully, with a calm and composed approach to matters.

But Maxwell had an opposite personality. When it came to doing things, he was ruthless and decisive, the type of person who would stop at nothing to achieve his goals. Such individuals could rise higher and go further, but often they would also easily stir up trouble.

She had always been worried that Maxwell might do something inhumane or even commit illegal acts due to being provoked. If that were the case, she would rather not have the Smith Family Group anymore than have him get into trouble!

Flora, who had been hiding in the backyard and dared not show herself, heard the voices of a few women. When she took a look, she realized that it was the maidservant who had gone to welcome them back. Each of them had smiles on their faces, beaming with joy.

One of them opened a small gift box and suddenly exclaimed in surprise, saying gleefully, "Mine is a brooch with the Smith Family Group logo, so beautiful!"

"Really? Let me see...." Several girls gathered around her, exclaiming in unison, "Wow, and it's even made of pure gold. Madam gave such an expensive gift to everyone, so generous, right?"

"Hey, what did you all get?" Excitedly, the girls compared the gifts they had received with each other.

Flora, who was watching their happy faces, couldn't help but laugh along with them.

"Madam is so kind. Even though the Smith Family Group was about to go bankrupt, she still gave us gifts. It's a pity that good deeds often go unrewarded!" One of the girls wore the bracelet she had received while lamenting with a sympathetic voice.

The other two girls nodded in agreement, saying, "Exactly, it's so unfair. The heavens have been unjust to the Smith Family Group, allowing Young Master Joshua to break his leg. It's truly unreasonable."

Flora, who unintentionally listened to their conversation, suddenly froze, her smile stiffening on her face.

Joshua broke his leg? When did that happen? Why did she have no idea about it at all? What had happened exactly? Who could tell her?

The young maid saw Flora and suddenly stopped in her tracks, smiling brightly. She said, "Flora, what are you doing here? Hurry up and go to Nancy to receive your gift! They are all genuine products from the Smith Family Group!"

At the Smith Family, nobody knew Flora's true identity or her complicated relationship with the Smith Family. Not even Nancy knew.

Because of this, the young maids who worked together with Flora didn't treat her as an enemy like Nancy did. Except for a few maids in charge of the front yard affairs who were brainwashed by Nancy, the rest of the maids in the backyard treated her fairly.

Flora smiled and shook her head, saying, "I'm not interested in accessories, so I'll pass." She didn't need these things anyway, and even if she did want them, Nancy wouldn't give her any gifts. She considered herself fortunate enough if Nancy didn't physically harm or scold her – she couldn't expect to receive gifts!

"Alright, it's up to you. We'll go back to work then." The young maid still had a happy expression on her face, but if they didn't go back to work soon, and Nancy found out, it wouldn't end well. In this Smith Family, no one was fearless in the face of Nancy.

"Wait." Flora suddenly called out, stopping the maid who was about to leave.

The maid turned back, looking at her with confusion, and asked, "Is there something wrong?"

"Um..." Flora hesitated for a moment and asked, "You mentioned earlier that Young Master Joshua broke his leg? How did Young Master Joshua break his leg? When did it happen?"

Flora asked anxiously, which caught the girls off guard. They couldn't understand why Flora was so nervous and concerned about Young Master Joshua breaking his leg. Were her feelings the same as theirs, feeling a sense of injustice on his behalf?
