Chapter 165: Chapter 165

A cold smile spread across Oliver's lips as he gazed at her and said with a mocking tone, "What does Miss Chiyoko think I should do? Should I snatch Flora from Maxwell's hands? Or do you have another plan?"

"If you truly love her, why not snatch her away? After all, she and Maxwell are not meant to be, right?" Chiyoko looked at him, her heart filled with strong anticipation.

Yes, since she had chosen Maxwell, she could use Oliver to eliminate Flora, who was a constant source of concern for her. Otherwise, she couldn't calm down, unable to believe that Maxwell would obey Mrs. Smith and marry her.

"If I were going to snatch, shouldn't I have snatched you back a year and a half ago? Even if a year and a half ago was not possible, what about today? I still have a chance, right?" Oliver laughed wickedly, staring at the beautiful face before him.

Chiyoko blushed, shyly lowering her gaze, and whispered, "I'm sorry, Oliver. I love Maxwell, I love only him. I shouldn't have tempted you out of loneliness back then. I know I was wrong, and I've been punished for it. Can you forgive me?"

Oliver chuckled, "Miss Chiyoko, there's no right or wrong in such matters. I've never blamed you, let alone talk about forgiveness."

"Well," Chiyoko hesitated, cautiously opening her mouth, "Can you help me explain to Maxwell and ask for his forgiveness? Because he has never been willing to forgive me." Chiyoko finished speaking, staring at Oliver with some urgency.

Oliver's expression darkened slightly, shaking his head, he refused mercilessly, "I'm sorry, I can't help you with that."

"Oliver," Chiyoko called softly, not expecting him to refuse so decisively. Oliver loved her, why didn't he have a little sacrifice for her? Had he given up on her like Maxwell?

"I'm sorry, Miss Chiyoko. I'm going to take a shower in my room." Oliver smiled as he stood up from the sofa and walked towards the bedroom.

In the quiet corridor, only the sound of his footsteps echoed. When he reached Flora's door, his steps involuntarily paused. Staring at the closed door, he then continued to walk forward.

Had he truly fallen in love with the woman inside? Even Chiyoko could sense it? But why did he feel a sense of unease? Could loving her make him so miserable?

"Aunt, when is Maxwell coming back?" Chiyoko had asked this question more than once in the past two days. She missed him terribly. Even though he hated her and ignored her, just being able to see him every day was enough for her.

With his sudden absence for two days, her heartfelt increasingly empty. It was because of this feeling that she had succumbed to loneliness and tempted Oliver into a disastrous affair more than a year ago.

Mrs. Smith sighed helplessly and shook her head, "I'm afraid if Oliver doesn't leave, Maxwell might not come back. That's just how they are. Getting them to sit down together for a meal and have a good chat is harder than reaching the sky!"

"Aunt, I'm sorry. It's all my fault." Chiyoko lowered her head in guilt. She felt that if it weren't for her actions a year ago, the two brothers wouldn't be so estranged. They were supposed to be close siblings, but now they were like strangers.

"Well, don't blame yourself." Mrs. Smith comforted her, "Even without what you did, their relationship wouldn't have been much better. I really don't understand what hatred has driven them to this point."

Every time this matter was brought up, Mrs. Smith couldn't help but feel helpless. Maxwell and Oliver had grown up under her care. Both of them were so stubborn, and in the end, they trapped themselves in their stubbornness.

Looking at Mrs. Smith, Chiyoko hesitated before speaking, "Aunt, have you sensed it? Oliver loves Flora." She wasn't just asking Mrs. Smith; she hoped Mrs. Smith could take the initiative to persuade Maxwell to let Flora go for Oliver's sake.

As soon as Flora's name was mentioned, Mrs. Smith responded without much patience, "Not only does Oliver love her, Robin also loves her. I'm sure Richard will love her once he meets her. This girl just has a charm that people can't resist. There's nothing I can do about it!"

Mrs. Smith had to admit that Flora had the potential to be likable. She was lively, clever, and innocent, and even Joshua had loved her to death. As a mother, Mrs. Smith couldn't help but like her.

"But Aunt, aren't you afraid the two brothers will clash again?" Chiyoko looked worried. Seeing Mrs. Smith's unwillingness to discuss it further, she urged, "Aunt, you should adjust their relationship early. Let Maxwell give Flora to Oliver."

Mrs. Smith was stunned, looking at her in surprise, "Chiyoko, what are you talking about? Flora is likely carrying Maxwell's child. How can we let her marry Oliver? That would be chaotic!"

"Aunt, are you planning to let her marry Maxwell?" Chiyoko placed the glass in her hand heavily on the glass coffee table, intentionally expressing her dissatisfaction to Mrs. Smith.

Sure enough, Mrs. Smith patted her hand to comfort her, "Of course not, Chiyoko, don't worry. She could never marry any of the brothers, regardless of whose child she is carrying. Once she gives birth, I'll kick her out of the Smith Family mansion!"

"You know Maxwell's personality. How could he let you drive Flora away? I believe that as long as you ask, he will willingly give Flora to Oliver. As for the child, it's still a member of the Smith Family, no matter who the father is." Chiyoko spoke indifferently. She was growing tired of Mrs. Smith's lack of initiative and determination.

She didn't believe that Mrs. Smith could drive Flora away. She had long noticed that Mrs. Smith was inherently kind but indecisive. Mrs. Smith had never done anything helpful for her. Depending on her was too difficult!

"Maxwell wouldn't listen to me, but I believe that after the child is born, he won't want Flora anymore. A man's passion for a woman can't last long, especially for such a young girl!" Mrs. Smith comforted. Chiyoko's influence and background were always what Mrs. Smith feared, so she didn't even dare to speak loudly to her.

Chiyoko took advantage of Mrs. Smith's psychology, being disrespectful and even threatening her to force her assistance. Although the effect was not significant, it still had some impact.

Were men really so fickle and heartless, as she just said? Perhaps, otherwise, Maxwell wouldn't have become so cold to her after a year. Was he already fed up with her?

"Aunt, I don't want Maxwell to still love Flora when we get married at the end of the year, so please help me." This sentence served a dual purpose. It subtly informed Mrs. Smith that she was getting married at the end of the year, and she had to get married, otherwise....

Mrs. Smith opened her mouth, looked at Chiyoko's determined expression, and could only nod, saying, "Oh... I'll do my best. I'll try to talk to Maxwell when I have the chance."

"Thank you, Aunt." Chiyoko smiled satisfactorily. She had Mrs. Smith in her palm, knowing she would agree early on. Rather than asking for her help, it was more like Chiyoko was teaching her what to do next.

"Well, you're welcome. As long as all of you are fine, it's enough." Mrs. Smith sighed softly, wondering why it was so difficult for the Smith Family to live peacefully. Why were there always so many issues?

"Aunt, don't worry. We'll be fine." Chiyoko smiled faintly, took a sip of coffee, said goodnight, and then headed upstairs.
