Chapter 164: Chapter 164
Until it was almost dark, Robin and Flora finally decided to head home, satisfied with their day. Oliver, who had been accompanying them the whole time, showed no signs of impatience. He not only kept an eye on the little boy but also had to watch out for Flora, discouraging her from making any strenuous movements.
After all, she was a pregnant woman, and he was genuinely worried that her indulgence in play might harm the baby.
Tired from playing, Robin clamored for Oliver to carry him. Oliver had no objections, slightly bending over, and Robin jumped on his back.
Seeing this scene, Flora rolled her eyes sarcastically and said, "You're already so grown up, and you still want someone to carry you?" She then turned to Oliver and added, "Second Young Master, only you spoil him like this, directly spoiling him rotten."
"None of your business! You can ask Second Brother to carry you back too!" Robin raised his head proudly and retorted.
Flora shrugged, made a face at him, and then ignored him. However, she noticed tiny beads of sweat on Oliver's forehead. Without hesitation, she took out a handkerchief from her bag and wiped away the sweat for him.
Her actions momentarily surprised Oliver. Throughout the day, Flora had been avoiding him like the plague. Now, why wasn't she trying to steer clear?
Flora saw his suspicious gaze and chuckled, "I noticed you were being bullied and didn't have time to wipe your sweat, so..." She suddenly realized that it was an unconscious act, but definitely without any other intentions!
"Thank you." Oliver smiled and glanced at her.
While sitting in the car, Flora quickly became tired and fell asleep. Although she didn't engage in much play, it was almost a whole day of strolling. She leaned on Oliver's shoulder, found a relatively comfortable position, and dozed off.
Oliver lowered his head, gazing at her peacefully sleeping face. He took out his jacket, which he usually kept in the car, and gently covered her with it. The considerate gesture made the curious driver in the front seat secretly observe his actions through the rearview mirror.
He thought that Second Young Master was being reckless; he dared to show such tenderness to Big Young Master's woman. It seemed like he was inviting trouble. If Big Young Master found out, there might be some kind of storm.
Even Robin, seeing Oliver's gentle demeanor, discreetly stuck out his tongue and turned his face away.
They arrived back at the Smith Family mansion just around 8 PM. Oliver hesitated whether to wake up Flora or carry her inside. Waking her up might lead to Mrs. Smith's nagging, but seeing her fatigued face, he couldn't bear to disturb her sleep. Therefore, he chose the latter option.
He gently carried Flora out of the car and walked towards her room. Everything was fine passing through the first-floor lobby, as they didn't encounter anyone. However, as they reached the second floor, they ran into Chiyoko.
Chiyoko saw Oliver carrying Flora, instantly freezing in place, staring at the two as if Oliver had committed an unpardonable sin.
"Oliver," Chiyoko stammered.
"Miss Chiyoko, we can talk later. Please excuse us for now," Oliver smiled and spoke. Though he tried to keep his voice down, it was enough to wake Flora.
Flora stirred, and upon seeing Oliver's face above her, she gasped and quickly jumped out of his arms. Due to her haste, she didn't realize Oliver was holding her tightly and thus didn't break free.
Oliver, eyes sharp, held her even tighter and sternly said, "Don't move." Then, he passed by Chiyoko and headed towards Maxwell's bedroom. After placing her on the bed, he leaned over, supporting himself on the soft bed on either side of her, gazing down at her with a calm demeanor, saying, "Stop being so jumpy all the time. Take care of yourself, understand?"
Flora dumbly nodded. Oliver straightened up, turned around, and walked towards the bedroom door. Flora watched his departing figure, finding it difficult to digest all of today's events, especially Oliver's behavior.
She sat up from the bed, looking at the vast and desolate room. Surprisingly, she felt a bit nostalgic for the person she hated the most, despite him never uttering a kind word. Flora, somewhat helplessly, slapped her forehead, wondering if she had gone crazy. Why would she miss that man who had treated her so cruelly and still had her confined, despite being a demon?!
Could it be because he is the father of her child, and in these past few days, he hasn't engaged in any inappropriate behavior towards her, that she has developed a liking for him? Flora considered herself not the type to be infatuated to such an extent, so it seemed unlikely for her to surrender so easily!
Oliver walked out of the bedroom and saw Chiyoko waiting at the door. After a momentary pause, he walked towards the living room on the second floor. Then, he sank into the soft sofa, having spent the whole day with them, he was indeed tired.
Chiyoko considerately poured a cup of coffee for him, pushing it in front of him while secretly observing him. She asked with concern, "You've been out all day, must be exhausted. If you're tired, take a shower and go to bed early, okay?"
Oliver sat up, leaning in closely, staring at her expressionlessly, and said, "Chiyoko Tokugawa, what exactly is on your mind? Why can't I understand it? You keep saying you love Maxwell, why can't you focus on that love?"
Chiyoko was momentarily surprised, meeting his gaze, she shook her head gently, "Oliver, I don't understand what you're talking about. Of course, I love Maxwell. Am I not focusing on that love?"
"Then why are you standing in front of me? Don't you think you should keep some distance from me?" Oliver spoke indifferently. Looking at her innocent expression, he felt that the woman in front of him was hypocritical and fake!
Chiyoko took a gentle breath, looked at him, and said, "Oliver, you've misunderstood. I just wanted to show concern because you seemed tired. As your future sister-in-law, is it too much to do so?"
"Is that so? Are you saying I've misunderstood things?" Oliver sneered, remembering the innocent act she put on a little over a year ago. He finally realized that the woman before him had a penchant for pretending to be innocent and shifting blame!
"Oliver," Chiyoko called softly, hesitated, and said, "I know you love Flora. I've always been puzzled as to why both of you brothers would fall for such a young girl like Flora. But if she can win your affection, it proves that she has extraordinary qualities. It's not easy to meet someone you love, so you must seize the opportunity."
Oliver suddenly raised his gaze, looking at her again. Hearing these words from her was truly surprising. Chiyoko Tokugawa! Was she encouraging him to pursue Flora? Well! She truly was a selfish woman!
Of course, she hoped that he could successfully make Flora his own. This way, she and Maxwell could be together without any obstacles. Not only was this woman selfish, but she was also very clever!
