Chapter 160: Chapter 160

At this critical moment, Maxwell still considered the safety of their baby. Too frequent activities in bed might be too much for Flora, and the baby might protest. So, he restrained himself, and had to suppress the resentment in his heart and digest it on his own.

Flora, kissed until she felt ticklish several times, gazed at his fiercely resolute face, breathing lightly with her slightly open mouth. Her small face still bore an expression of confusion, not understanding why he had come in silently and suddenly pressed her onto the bed to kiss her passionately.

There were many things about him that Flora didn't understand, so she didn't intend to inquire further. After sitting up from the bed, she picked up the phone he had thrown down on the table and dialed to ask Betty to prepare a midnight snack for Maxwell. After hanging up the phone, she fell into silence.

After a moment of silence, Flora finally couldn't help but ask, "What's gotten into you again?" Originally, she wanted to ask, 'What's wrong?' but unexpectedly, the words that came out of her mouth were these!

Fortunately, Maxwell didn't take this provocatively worded statement to heart. He lifted one hand, pinched her chin, and stared at her, asking calmly, "Do you think Oliver is really so likable to women? Why?"

Flora was surprised, not expecting him to ask such a question. If she answered, he would surely get angry. Should she lie? Good girls shouldn't lie, and she had already told plenty of lies!

"What? Is it difficult to answer this question?" Maxwell's fingertip brushed over her red lips, caressing back and forth. Gazing at her face filled with surprise and confusion, he wanted to understand why Oliver was more popular with women than he was.

"Do you want to hear the truth or a lie?" Flora looked him in the eyes and asked hesitantly.

"If you dare tell a lie, I'll twist your neck!" Maxwell threatened with gritted teeth. He even made a motion of strangling her in front of her, scaring Flora, who immediately abandoned the mischievous thoughts in her mind.

Since he wanted to hear the truth, she would tell the truth. Flora reached out and pulled his hands away from her chin, then nodded, "Yes, Oliver is indeed very likable to girls, much better than you."

Flora leaned back a bit, continuing, "Oliver is much gentler and more elegant than you. He is the most elegant emperor in the royal family. You are the most powerful bandit in the bandit gang, hah, that's it."

"Hey! It was you who asked me to tell the truth!" Flora moved back again, staring at Maxwell's darkening handsome face. What's wrong? She described him so well, so accurately! She knew he wouldn't like it again. Nobody likes to hear these unpleasant words!

"Your adjectives are too rich," Maxwell said in a deep voice. He had only asked her why Oliver was more popular with women, and she analyzed it so thoroughly. Describing him as a bandit? She could come up with that!

"Rich?" Flora retorted, then looked him up and down, rolling her eyes defiantly, "Wake up, bro.! Watching Korean dramas is harmful to intellectual growth. It's no longer popular to be cool and handsome nowadays. Be gentle, be considerate, life will become more perfect!"

Well, with his behavior, can she blame Miss Chiyoko for falling for Oliver? Flora shook her head, sighed, and completely failed to notice his increasingly gloomy handsome face.

Maxwell glared at her, tempted to strangle her, but restrained himself since he had guided her, giving her the chance to retaliate with her mouth. He had to endure it. Gentleness? Consideration? Was she complaining that he didn't give her enough? But she seemed to have never considered whether she was qualified to enjoy these benefits! For a woman like her, he disdained being gentle and considerate!

"Uh... are you okay?" Flora finally felt that something was wrong with him and asked somewhat apprehensively. She knew it; a person like him couldn't handle the truth. Did she get into trouble again?

"It's okay. You said it very well, very pleasing to the ears." Maxwell gritted his teeth and said this, then stood up from the bed and walked towards the door.

Flora called after him, "It's so late, where are you going? Betty will bring the midnight snack up soon."

Could it be that he discovered the intimate embrace between Chiyoko and Oliver this afternoon? Otherwise, why would he be so emotional? And why did he act so inexplicably?

However, Flora wasn't afraid that he couldn't handle it. A person so self-loving and narcissistic like him would never be unable to move on because of a woman, right?

"Ask her to bring it to the study," Maxwell said without looking back as he opened the door and walked out.

His abnormal behavior must be related to Miss Chiyoko. Flora felt a bit bitter in her heart. She knew she shouldn't, but she couldn't help feeling bitter.

While Kevin was still socializing, he received an urgent call from the family doctor and hurriedly returned. Upon entering, he saw Mrs. Davis lying weakly on the bed, eyes closed. She opened her eyes only after hearing the door open.

"Mom, what's wrong?" Kevin hurriedly approached Mrs. Davis's bed, anxiously assessing her condition.

Seeing him back in such a rush, Mrs. Davis smiled with relief and said, "It's nothing, just the usual ailment acting up again. My heart condition comes and goes, and I've gotten used to it."

"Mom, your heart condition is acting up again?" Kevin became even more anxious, sitting down by her bedside.

"Yes. Unfortunately, the doctors here can't compare to Dr. Hernandez." Mrs. Davis sighed softly, looking at Kevin with a voice filled with helplessness. "Kevin, how about we go back to Germany? We can just shut down the branch in W City if necessary."

Indeed, her feigned illness was aimed at coaxing Kevin to return to Germany. She sensed that Kevin was becoming less inclined to leave W City. So, she had to resort to this act of feigning illness; she had to bring him back to Germany before Mrs. Smith met him because she didn't want to lose her son.

She adopted the enemy's son out of hatred. But over the years, the bond between them grew deeper, to the point where she could not bear to harm the son she had raised so hard.
