Chapter 144: Chapter 144

Flora almost held her breath as she walked down to the first floor. In the lobby, she encountered Nancy, but before Nancy could speak, Flora ran past her like a frightened rabbit.

Nancy muttered behind her, "Nuts!"

As she passed by the pool, Flora noticed that even Betty was captivated by the handsome figure in the pool, and she rolled her eyes at her. Together, they looked at Maxwell's sexy body, which Flora had already seen enough of.

However, she was still drawn to him at this moment, or rather to the gentleness on his face. This gentle expression, tinged with indulgence, only appeared when dealing with Robin. For her, it had never been so kind to her!

Her small hand quietly stroked her belly. Would he be as doting on the baby as he was on Robin?

While Flora was lost in thought, raindrops fell from the sky. They landed on her head and body. She was startled, looking up to find that the sky was still as clear as before. It wasn't until she heard a burst of laughter from beside her that Flora reacted, glaring at Robin, who was laughing crookedly in the pool.

"Aha, Flora, you silly goose, daydreaming again, huh!" Robin, with a head full of water, laughed heartily, especially pleased with himself.

"You called me silly again!" Flora protested, displeased, and then, with a shout, bent down to splash water at him. However, it seemed to have no effect as he was already immersed in the water.

Before she could get her revenge, Robin, once again, poured water all over her face. After dousing her, he laughed and swam away. Irritated, Flora stood there, nearly going crazy. Just as she was about to jump into the water, a firm force suddenly wrapped around her waist, pulling her backward. Her steps faltered, and she stumbled into someone's arms.

"Robin, you're as annoying as your Big Brother!" Flora, as she fell backward, still had the presence of mind to shout at Robin, who was splashing in the water.

"Aha, you can't catch me!" Robin, who understood a bit about swimming, proudly raised his head, water droplets falling from his face. His angelic smiling face had a touch of mischief.

Flora instinctively struggled a bit, and if someone behind her hadn't let go, she would have jumped into the water long ago. Her swimming skills might not have been on par with Henry's since childhood, but they were more than enough to deal with this little rascal.

However, her struggles did not result in the person behind her letting go; instead, the grip tightened even more. The powerful force made her body tremble, and when she turned around, she found that Maxwell, wearing a bathrobe, was holding her tightly.

"Big Young Master," Flora awkwardly called out.

Wasn't it Betty? Just a moment ago, Betty was standing behind her. It's really strange! It's rare for him to be in such a good mood today. His face was much calmer than usual. Thanks to that annoying Robin! Only he could make Maxwell act like a normal person.

Maxwell released her, using both hands to fasten the belt on his white robe. Indifferently, he reminded her, "Pay attention to your current status. Don't act like a child. You're not that young anymore!"

"You're jealous of my youth!" Flora retorted, full of pride.

Maxwell paused in his movements, raised his gaze to her, and gave her a scornful look. Then, he lowered his eyes to continue adjusting his clothes. Young? She was indeed quite young, but was he really jealous?

Glancing at the disdain on his face, Flora turned around and glared at Robin, who was making faces at her. The two of them started making funny faces at each other again.

Maxwell slightly displeased, turned her body, lowered his head, and kissed her on the lips. He mockingly chuckled, "That's right, pregnant women should walk around more. It's good for our baby's health."

Facing his strange smile, the word 'our' subtly stirred Flora's heart, bringing a mix of sweetness and sadness. After all, this word was composed of them because of the child, without any practical significance. What would their relationship be like after the child was born?

Maxwell released Flora again, walked to the edge of the pool, and extended his hand to Robin, "Robin, come up."

"Big Brother, is it safe on land? Can I not come up for now?" Robin Smith grinned, glancing meaningfully at Flora standing by the side. He dared to provoke her only because she couldn't get into the water now.

"Don't worry, it's safe on land," Maxwell explained with patience.

Robin then reached out his small hand to him, and Maxwell lifted him out of the water like holding a small bird, throwing a towel to him to dry off.

Robin grinned at Flora, hid beside Maxwell, and vigilantly watched Flora's every move.

Flora had no intention of doing anything to him again, to avoid Maxwell saying she was acting cute. Looking at the clean and blue pool water, she really wanted to jump in and swim. It's been a long time since she last swam. Just seeing them having so much fun made her envious!

After Maxwell finished everything, he led Robin towards the main house. Seeing them leaving, Flora became anxious and hurriedly caught up. Standing on the other side of Maxwell, she said, "I want to go in too."

"Flora, let me take you for a walk in the backyard," Betty hurriedly suggested, sneaking a glance at Maxwell's expression. Fortunately, nothing seemed unusual! Big Young Master asked her to accompany Flora for a stroll, but Flora wanted to go back inside as soon as she came out. How could this work?

"I don't want to walk anymore," Flora spoke without hesitation.

There was visible fear on her face, and she dared not stop following Maxwell as they walked back into the house. Being with Maxwell at least ensured that Chiyoko wouldn't do anything to her. After all, Chiyoko liked to appear obedient in front of Maxwell, so she had to return to the bedroom under his protection!

Maxwell noticed her fear and understood what she was afraid of, so he didn't say anything. He tacitly accepted her behavior. Seeing that Maxwell didn't object, Betty breathed a sigh of relief.

Following behind Maxwell, Flora stared at his back and cautiously asked, "Big Young Master, can I go back to where I used to live?" Living here felt so oppressive, making her uncomfortable!

Maxwell stopped, looked down at her from a higher vantage point, and asked, "Go back to Kevin?" Mentioning Kevin, his expression remained stiff.

Flora was stunned and quickly shook her head, "No, no. I promise to stay at Chloe's house and not see Kevin at all."

"Can your promise convince me?" Maxwell sneered, not believing her words at all.

Flora knew he wouldn't believe her, sighed lowly, and said, "I know you won't believe me, but staying here is driving me crazy." She looked aggrieved and didn't expect Maxwell to let her go. She only dared to bring it up because he seemed to be in a good mood today.

Staying at Chloe's house, even if she didn't go out, would be much better than this huge mansion! The kind Auntie Grace, the fashionable Chloe, and the infatuated Linda—she missed them so much!
