Chapter 118: Chapter 118
Flora nodded, staring at him nervously, waiting for his response.
Kevin, besides being surprised, had no idea how to respond, or how he could respond. After a long moment, he asked numbly, "Is it Maxwell's?"
Was that even a question? Kevin chuckled self-mockingly. Who else could it be besides him?
With Flora's nod, he felt a coldness fill his heart instantly. It was an indescribable feeling - his emotions for Flora weren't deep enough to make him collapse because of this, but it still made his heart ache. Was it jealousy? Jealousy that Maxwell had finally managed to win her over? Perhaps!
"Are you planning to keep it?" Kevin's warm palm hovered over her abdomen, and suddenly, he had the urge to crush that tiny life. Without it, this woman wouldn't know whose hands she would end up in!
"Yes," Flora nodded.
She had long accepted reality. She had to keep it because it was her flesh and blood, her only family in this world. Who could bear to snuff out their own family?
"Today, I just realized that you're no different from other women, knowing how to use means to keep the wealthy young man!"
Kevin's sneering words echoed in her ears. Flora felt helpless. She knew that Kevin had misunderstood her. Let him misunderstand then, because what's the use of explaining? Would it change anything? Explain to him? It would only bring unnecessary trouble to herself and him.
He hoped she would explain, but she stubbornly remained silent, so he continued, "I lost, I lost because I appeared in your life after him, right? I lost because I'm not as domineering as him, right?"
Flora opened her mouth, not knowing how to answer that question. It seemed that it was true. Maxwell had appeared in her life two months before him, cruelly and forcefully taking possession of her. But how could it be considered a matter of winning or losing?
Maxwell hated her and would never want this child. If she had to say he won, it was only by winning her as a pawn, defeating Kevin ruthlessly. In their covert battle, she was merely a pawn!
Kevin placed her back on the bed and stood up from the bedside, staring at her for a while before turning and walking towards the door. Flora watched his figure, suddenly feeling a sense of separation, strangely enough!
With a sigh, Flora slowly withdrew her gaze from the door and stared blankly at the ceiling. She wondered what awaited her tomorrow. Hopefully, everything will be peaceful.
On this sunny day, inside the study of the Smith Family mansion, Maxwell stared at the pile of photos on the desk, feeling anger welling up from deep within his heart. It surged through his limbs, reaching his eyes.
"Where did these come from?" Maxwell yelled, glaring at the photos in front of him.
Dozens of intimate photos of Flora and Kevin were spread across the desk. Every image, from Kevin holding Flora outside the hotel room to their entry into the suite, appeared vivid and authentic.
Chiyoko unconsciously shrank back, finally realizing why she had been locked upstairs for over a year. Maxwell! His temper was truly astonishing. However, she felt somewhat relieved that she wasn't the main character this time.
She hesitantly opened her mouth and said, "They were dining at that hotel. Coincidentally, one of my friends works as a lobby manager there. Seeing Kevin, my friend mistook him for you, thinking you were with another woman. That's why they secretly took these photos and sent them to me, reminding me to be cautious of my fiancé. At first, I too thought it was you, until I remembered that you were at home last night. That's when I realized it was someone else."
Chiyoko's words were true. She remembered her initial anger and sadness upon receiving the photos. Then came the questioning, followed by the shock of discovering the man in the pictures. She was stunned. How was it possible for two people to look so alike?
The first thought that came to her mind was Oliver Smith, but he was in England and couldn't possibly be in City W. It was thanks to Philip's investigation that she found out the man was Kevin Davis. And in this world, there truly existed two men who looked almost identical!
This information had shaken her all night and she still doubted who this Kevin was. Not only did he look like Maxwell, but he also dared to compete with him for a woman?
"Maxwell, who is he? Why does he look so much like you?" Chiyoko couldn't contain her curiosity as she stared at the enraged Maxwell, cautiously asking.
Maxwell didn't answer her. After fiercely closing his eyes, he picked up the phone on the desk and dialed a few numbers. Coldly commanding the person on the other end, he said, "Darren, fetch that damn woman, Flora, for me!"
Darren, on the other end of the phone, hesitated for a moment before replying, "Yes, Big Young Master."
With no more words needed, they both hung up simultaneously.
Maxwell fiercely threw the photos on the desk to the ground. In his heart, he thought angrily, Flora! Even if I give you a good life, you don't want it! This time, don't blame him for being ruthless. You'll never leave the Smith Family mansion in this lifetime!
Seeing him so furious, Chiyoko's heart was filled with mixed feelings of sadness and joy. She eagerly anticipated how Maxwell would handle the unfaithful Flora. But seeing him care so much about Flora's infidelity, she couldn't help but feel a sense of discomfort. Did he care about her that much?
Bending down, she picked up the photos from the floor and walked timidly to Maxwell's side. She softly said, "Maxwell, don't you think you're overreacting? Flora isn't your girlfriend, nor is she your fiancée. Doesn't she have the right to choose who she sleeps with?"
Chiyoko intentionally emphasized the words 'sleeps with,' attentively observing the changes in Maxwell's face. Her soft hand moved on his shoulder, attempting to soothe the unnecessary anger within him.
