Chapter 42: Chapter 42
Epilogue.
Two months later.
"I like the idea of the baby being a surprise, I don't want to know it's sex yet" Halal rubbed her tummy. Darrell sighed and sat opposite her.
"I know that sweet heart, I won't tell you the sex of our baby. I promise, now can we get started? I have other patients to attend to" Darrell said.
Halal rolled her eyes "Well, duh. I'm your number one patient and also your wife. The others can wait, how about we let Felicity do the examination instead?" Halal asked.
Darrell scoffed "I'm your doctor, I'm doing the examination myself, case closed" Darrell rolled his eyes and stood up again.
It was thirty agonizing minutes already and they still hadn't carried out the ultrasound because Halal didn't want him to know the sex of the baby.
"I want it to be a surprise, it's not fair if you know more about our baby than I. Stop being selfish and call Felicity already" Halal insisted.
Darrell groaned "I swear you women are damn too sentimental. Fine, I'll call Felicity" Darrell gave in and reached for the phone.
Felicity arrived almost immediately. "What's going on?" she asked excitedly.
"Your godchild needs to be examined, the mother has refused to let me do it myself. She requested for you" Darrell said rolling his eyes. Felicity smirked at the duo, there was no time they weren't bantering about the baby.
"Alright, alright" Felicity chuckled. Halal stood up and turned to Darrell "see" she stressed. "That wasn't so hard" she said following Felicity out of the office. Darrell followed shortly.
"What are we having?" He asked Felicity hours after Halal had left. "I thought your wife didn't want you to know?" Felicity frowned.
"Come on Felicity, you know how I hate surprises. We're having a boy right, girls are too much trouble. Especially if she'll take her mother's strong headed trait, tell me we're having a boy" Darrell said.
Felicity chuckled "Darling, you'd better start practicing how to get rid of boyfriends and suitors" she said walking away.
Darrell smiled to himself, so they were having a girl after all.
Eight months later.
"You guys, I'm getting married!!!" Victoria screamed entering Felicity's office. Amarissa stirred in her mother's arms but didn't wake up. Felicity turned to Victoria and glared hard.
"You could have woken her up, you know how she prickly she gets around noise" Felicity hissed.
Victoria placed a palm over her mouth and looked at Halal apologetically. She tiptoed to her seat and placed her bag quietly on the floor. 'Sorry' she mouthed.
"It's okay, it's okay" Halal said dismissively.
"So.... You were saying?" Felicity asked quietly. "I'm getting married" Victoria grinned.
"Who's the unlucky guy" Halal muttered under her breath, if Victoria heard, she didn't say anything.
If anything, the fall must have reduced Victoria's peanut sized brain to the size of a mustard seed. Fortunately for everyone at the hospital, she'd sent in her resignation letter. She sold cosmetics online and modelled underwear part time. Once in a while, she dropped in at the hospital to check in on Felicity, Darrell, gossip and cause minor troubles here and there.
"Well, he's mature, single, has loads of local and foreign money. Handsome, tall, delicious and everything I want" Victoria gushed.
"And, how long have you been dating, when did he propose?" Felicity asked.
Victoria let out an annoying giggle like a school girl "He hasn't yet, we're not dating and I just met him today" She said giggling.
Halal scoffed and turned back to the puzzle game on her phone. "Vicki, you just said you were getting married" Felicity said looking confused.
"Well, from the moment I saw him. I knew instantly that he will be my future husband. The husband, I've been praying to God about. I will do everything to get him" Victoria grinned.
Felicity chuckled "Hopefully you won't get beat up this time" She said. Victoria rolled her eyes and looked at Halal from the corner of her eyes.
Halal simply smiled at Victoria, some things, or rather some people never changed. Victoria was like that.
"Mrs Miller, how's your husband. I checked his office, he isn't in" Victoria grinned.
"He's not in the country" Halal lied. "Ah, he's gone to America again?" Victoria asked surprised.
"Yes, he's not coming back his time. My daughter and I will join him soon, we're processing our papers. You won't see him again" Halal said causing Victoria's eyes to widen.
"Oh.... I'll definitely see him. My future husband is based abroad too" Victoria announced excitedly.
Felicity scoffed and wondered If the fall had damaged Victoria's brain completely. Poor Victoria, her thoughts instantly went to Harvey and Janice.
So far he was surviving, in two years he'd be out. Janice on the other hand was getting exactly what she deserved. As for Eva who had disappeared, Felicity believed that God was dishing her punishment already.
The important thing was Darrell and Halal were happy, they were together, they'd gotten what they both wanted. Felicity smiled to herself, she was glad she'd told Darrell about the job offer.
A lot had been fixed because of that, her smile grew as she looked at the little baby in Halal's arm. The greatest gift of all.
A year later.
The screams of the people around her drove her mad, the darkness around her scared her. For over a year, all she'd seen was darkness, all she'd heard were voices of strange people, screams, footsteps, clanging of aluminum plates and slamming of metal doors.
It was all mental torture, she wanted to die already. Why hadn't Halal killed her? Why hadn't William killed her?
She whimpered and tried to wrap her arms around her nude body but she failed. This was worse than a prison cell, this was hell.
"00100" she heard the voice of the warden. He was probably here to drop her meal of the day or take her for her toilet break. They didn't call them by their names here, they wanted them to forget it, said they didn't deserve the good name their parents gave them because of all the evils they'd done.
Well even if she forgot everything, she'd always remember one face, one name and one goal. Halal.... revenge....she wasn't done, she promised herself.
She wished she could take off the chains cuffing her legs or the blind fold. "Someone's here to see you" the warden announced.
"Someone...." she muttered. Oh God, finally. Someone was here to save her, someone, Finally!
"Evangeline is it?" she heard a strange voice. "Yes... " she replied. "I'm Arch, I heard you worked with the Slave lord. You might know him as Abdiel" He said.
"Yessssss, help me please. Help me, I have money, I'll give you money." Eva sobbed.
"I don't need your money, I just want you know that I'll do everything to keep you here for life" He said hatefully.
"But... But.. I'm a friend of Master Abdiel. No, no, you can't do this to me!" she screamed.
"Yes, and any friend of Master Abdiel is a prisoner for life. Don't worry, soon he will join you. We've caught your accomplice Venom, he's five cells away from you. Everyone one of your accomplices will soon join you" He said.
"No! This is not the end! I'm not done yet! I haven't killed her yet! Let me go!!!" Eva screamed manically.
"I'm sorry to disappoint you Evangeline, you're never getting out. This is the end" he said with a note of finality.
Eva heard his footsteps leaving and screamed. This wasn't the end, it couldn't be. She'd be back and she'd kill of them.
This is not the end!
