Chapter 75: Chapter 75

King Kastor sat in his private living room upstairs, Ariella on his legs and saying things that made him laugh as he drank. She would place kisses on his neck and whisper things.

“Ariella, stop making me laugh. I'm not giving you that portion. I reserved it for my son's bride. She would be the one to have it,” the King Alpha finally spoke up then gulped down his brandy. Ariella frowned and sat erect on his leg.

“The Prince doesn't even want to marry anyone. Look what has become of Ñiraka. All the maidens are scared of coming closer to him and you're so confident he would have a bride?” she asked with scorn.

“He has eyes for the human girl,” the King stated and Ariella scoffed.

“Human? A human? Come on, your highness. She can never be his bride. She can't be Luna of the pack because she is weak. She would even die in a few years and cannot even withstand the mark of the Prince. There's nothing she can withstand.”

“She is strong.”

“My King, please don't let the Prince marry a mere human. That would be a curse and we would lose all our wars because her weakness would rub off on us,” she said in a honeyed voice and ran her fingers slowly through his hair.

“It's his choice, Ariella. Not yours.”

“So that land with all those fruit trees and the lake is all going to his bride? Do you know how rich that land is?”

“It's all going to his bride. And yes, I know how rich that land is. There might be gold there even.”

Ariella gasped silently as she stared at the King who wasn't looking at her.

“Then I'll just marry the Prince. I'll be his bride.”

The King laughed.

“Give it a try. You might have luck and not end up worse than Ñiraka.”

Ariella scoffed and got on her feet. She huffed and walked away, swaying her beaded waist as she did so. She got outside of the room and was frightened to find a Nobleman standing there. He wasn't frowning and was glaring. She just excused herself without a word.

Leblanc knocked lightly on the door and entered.

“My King Alpha,” he said with a bow. King Kastor looked at him with an arched brow.

“What brings you here privately?” he asked.

“I'm sorry, your Majesty. I just had to warn you secretly. There's a great revolt coming up. A huge protest. I had just overhead it few minutes ago on my way to a Pleasure Palace and drove here quickly.”

To this, the King sat up and looked serious. A revolt from his own people was the last thing he wanted.

“What is it?” he asked and dropped his glass of Brandy.

“The people don't want the human girl anymore. Everyone...and I mean everyone says she might become Luna if they allow it. They do not think a human is worthy of wearing a crown that has been worn by all their strong Lunas since times past. Also, they think this human came with a scheme from the Virgo Vampires. They say she easily won over the Prince and her plan is to either kill him now or take over the throne with him first then kill him. The people believe this so much and want to protest that she is either banished from the kingdom or sentenced to jail,” Leblanc explained with a worried expression yet a sure tone of voice. The king's mind failed him. He bowed his head in his arms and shut his eyes. He had been so happy when he noticed his son had fallen for someone. Someone whose love would make him stronger just like his mother had told him. He was worried she was human but believed she couldn't be much problem. But truly, the people would never accept her.

“When do they plan to protest? Maybe I have enough time to do something.”

“I'm afraid we don't have time. The protest begins tomorrow morning, at the break of dawn. And if she should be seen anywhere around tomorrow, they might take justice into their own hands.”

“What would you like for dinner?” Dakar whispered to Avril and hugged her tighter to himself as she sat on his legs. They were outside under a tree at his garden and Avril had been reading a book.

“Anything you choose. But I'd like something simple and quick to make,” she replied and turned a page.

“How about we just get that Spanish you so wanted yesterday?”

She looked back at him with wide eyes.

“Milan?” she asked and he nodded.

“Now? Wouldn't we run late? It's an hour before dinner. I can't get ready before then.”

“Go put on a dress, girl. Or just grab a jacket let's go,” he said and pushed her off his legs.

“I need a shower, Dakar.”

“You know what? Grab more things to wear. We won't be back until Monday morning.”

“What? We're... we're sleeping over there?” she asked and he got on his feet.

“Consider it our first official date,” he said and walked away into the house. Avril stood there blinking her eyes. Man, she was going to love this. Being among real humans for a whole day and not seeing any fast movement would be calming. Plus, she could try to make that call to Tijuana.
