Chapter 40: Chapter 40

**Nancy's POV**

I tip toe towards my room as I enter inside the house. I don't want to encounter neither dad nor Nathan at all. I don't want our eyes to meet at all.

I grab my heels on my hand and slowly tip toe towards the stairs in the pace of cat walks.

"Caught you," Nathan's voice rings on my ear like hell. Why him? Why of all people it should be him?

"Nathan!" I breathe out the air from my mouth as his eyes gazes on mine playfully.

"Guess someone had a good time tonight," he smirks as he sips the lemon tea from the kitchen counter. He literally loves lemon tea which I hate so so so much.

"Don't shout. It's not like that. We just wanted to give you peaceful time with your friends and that's all." I throw both of my hands in the air and sigh breathing out loud that even the ants in the room can hear.

"Your sighs are making me think that you are obviously lying dear," he chuckles and my eyes run towards the girl sitting on the couch who is just listening to me and him quietly.

"And she is?" I ask.

"You don't have to bother at all. She is just my classmate. She had a hard time yesterday and I help her get back here," he answers. I gaze at her and he smiles timidly.

She sure looks like she is nervous right now and maybe he and she aren't close enough at all. Plus she is wearing my dress.

As I feel that she is already quite nervous, I think of giving her some sort of comfort this time.

"You love books?" I ask her and she nods happily. No wonder she looks like she loves books. Her innocent looks are just beautiful and I love the way she has the same interest like that of mine.

"You can grab some, if you want to. We can have breakfast together later," I say and she follows me towards my room.

I close the door when she gets inside the room and she smiles as she sits on the sofa in front of my bed.

These are my collections, you can choose any books from there and read them," I say and she walks towards the bookshelf and takes out a book and till that time, I walk towards the washroom to get changed for the hospital.

"You love reading horror and mystery," I say as I see the Harry Potter's book in her hands.

"No... I just love reading anything. I read just to kill the time as I spend much time alone here," she says.

"Alone? Why is it so?" I ask her picking the comb and brushing my hair with it.

I have been in high schools too and I know how much it hurts when you are alone in the school.

"It's just that maybe I don't love being with people," she smiles timidly and I smile back. I don't understand what she is telling but I know every people have their own choice of life and it's alright until it's legal and harms no people.

"But I guess, you have the one maybe. You see, Nathan is a good boy and he loves being cheerful with friends," I say as I put my hand on her shoulders and she smiles.

"Guess so. I am new here and haven't been introduced to lots of people. He saved me from being bullied yesterday and I am grateful for that. He even brought his home and let me sleep in this room as it was already late to roll in dorm," she says and my eyes widens for a bit.

Nathan saved a girl? Wow! I never knew that my brother is so brave person. This is like I am reading a completely new chapter of him.

"Oh! I told you he is a good person," I say as I turn around and think for a bit. I have never known him being good with anyone unless they are from his stupid group of childhood chunks.

"So... What should I call you?"

"Elle. It's Elle," she says and I smile.

"What about we go and have breakfast? You might need a ride to school as well," I say and she nods. She puts the book on the table and tries to walk away when I stop her.

"No, you can just take it. I mean you can come over here when you finish reading that." She picks up the book back and then, smiles at me.

We both walk down together and I allow her to take my dress.

Nathan is good at making breakfast. It has always been him and dad after I have left for work and he is quite good with house chores.

So, he serves the breakfast in the table for both of us.

"So, what's your name?" he asks. They don't even know each others name and it sounds quite interesting. I stare at each one of them and the sole reason is because I have never known the fact that he has brought any girl in the home and let them stay here.

"Elle," she speaks softly.

"Myself Nathan and I am warning you to stay away from Winston Bros. They were the one who messed up with you yesterday," he says and did he now worried for her?

"Why are you smiling?" Nathan cuts in and I stop from the smiling.

"No! Who said I'm smiling? I just want to...uhm...."

God why I am bad at pretensions?

"Where's dad?" I ask.

"He has gone to party with his folks. I heard his friend had some wedding anniversary party. It was last week but they wanted all their friends to attend so they organized it last night. That's the reason I went out last night," he says as he drinks his glass of orange juice and stands up to go to school.

He already has put on his uniform and she is the only one who needs to be in uniform.

"Hey! Won't you drop her to school?" I ask.

"She isn't kid. She can get there," he says and walks out.

"Come on Nathan. She is a girl and you guys attend same school," I say.

"If I walk with her the whole school will turn upside down. I don't want to trouble myself with it and it will be good to her," he says but I insists and he finally agrees to go with her.

"You really didn't have to do that," she says as she looks at me and I smile at her.

"By the way, what type of girl do you prefer?" I ask Nathan when he walks out in behind her in a low voice.

"God damn! Nancy, don't your dare start matchmaking? She isn't my type. I really don't like the type of girl like you. They are boring like you," he says and I roll my eyes.

"You see Zion is head over heels for me?" I say and he smiles.

"That's why I love him more than you. How does he tolerate a girl like you?" He smirks and runs away from there. I make a face till he walks out but I surely love the girl she is here right now.

I am lost in thoughts till the car bunks it's horn in front of me.

"Nan! Get on. We have to be in hospital soon," he says like I am the patient who is going to die.

"Coming," I run to him after I lock all the doors.
