Chapter 65: Chapter 65
LENORA'S POV
"Order from the King, every wolf should be present in the battleground, the battle starts in 10 minutes. It's the final battle and the day the prince marks his partner!" The King's guard announced yet again but my mind was way far from what he was saying.
"Do you think you can handle this?" Alaric asked amidst his anger, I could sense his anger but he was trying his best to contain it.
"Yeah.." I replied faintly as he walked me into my room. I wasn't feeling like myself as my mind was wounded.
Perhaps the physical injuries I have been having before every fight was better than this as this weighed me down from the inside yet Alaric stood by me and never let go of my hands until I had to get dressed for the fight.
He let go of my hands, I tried to pick the clothes from my closet but my hands couldn't hold them as they were shaking profusely.
I tried to hide it but it wasn't a thing that could be hidden as Alaric noticed it and with a concerned look on his face, he snaked an arm around my waist holding me firm and with the other, he picked the clothes for me then led me out of the closet.
"May I wear them for you?" He asked for permission to touch me and I responded by nodding my head. Even though it sounded weird in his mouth, I appreciated the fact that he was trying his best to be gentle with me because some weeks ago he was the one who undressed me from a drunk date without consent.
He slowly pulled down the zipper of my little gown and watched as it fell to the floor. I was naked in front of him with only my underwear but I didn't seem to mind as he touched me and dressed me up.
He was being gentle and careful enough not to touch me in my sensitive parts and I admire that of him. Even though I don't think he would ever be nice enough or caring to anyone else, I still appreciated the efforts he put into me. At least he wasn't being that asshole I hated anymore.
"Did my mother tell you about the side effects of the potion?" He asked while I shook my head.
"What did she say?" He inquired and I tried to open my mouth to say something but nothing was coming out of it. I was truly devastated.
"It's fine if you don't want to say anything" He said almost sottovoce and I felt bad because I shouldn't be treating him this way when all he has ever done was to support me.
Without him, I would have never found out about my mother's little scheme and would have continued to be gullible while trusting her without knowing that I was only digging my grave even further.
I owed him an apology for treating him that way in their presence, I didn't believe him and had yelled at him but he still stood by me. If Clara hadn't exposed herself perhaps I might still be living in the darkness by now.
"She only said it had some serious side effects but never mentioned them to me " I cleared my throat and finally replied.
"I checked up on it and it had little to minor side effects for normal werewolves but you are no longer a normal werewolf, your wolf has accepted me and has started going through the process of shifting which would fully take place once I mark you" he sighed.
"But with that drug in your system, it might have some terrible side effects for you. You might suddenly feel really hungry and the need to eat whatever could satisfy you even if it's another of your kind or any living creature. You'll grow stronger, yes, but a tiny bit of any silver weapon in you could be the end of you." He said as I took in deep everything he had said.
Somehow I felt this would never happen but what harm would it be to take notes of them in my head.
"You're all set" he said after some while of silence as he held my hands and walked out of the door.
We walked side by side to the battleground as I tried my best to gather myself for the fight, I have no assurance of winning this but it'll be a pleasure to transfer my aggression to causing bruises on her body.
The King wasn't around yet and I was glad we could make it on time before them, I wouldn't want him to punish me just like he did the last time.
Alaric didn't let go of my hands as he led me to my seat and sat beside me. Tala and Clara were both seated opposite me as they held their heads up high with evil grins on her face but Tala didn't seem to be as excited as Clara herself.
It wasn't up to a minute after we arrived when the trumpet blew, signifying the presence of the king and beside him was the queen with a smile on her face the moment her eyes fell on me but her brows seemed to have furrowed when she noticed my sad mood. She was truly concerned about me.
They shortly settled down and the king had given Alaric a warning signal to sit on his throne. I knew how much he detested sitting on the small throne beside his father but he had no choice.
"I love you" he whispered in my ear as he brought my forehead to his lips and publicly placed a kiss on it.
I could hear different murmurs from the crowd as some found it cute while some were displeased. Clara held anger on her face as she clenched her fist on her laps.
However, the King wasn't pleased with this public display of affection. He gave a last warning to Alaric which made him walk to his designated throne as he sat beside the king who held anger on his face.
"Today, the final fight shall take place and even though we obviously have a winner here, I would love my son to satisfy his curiosity of having another battle." By saying that, Adolph had a grin on his face almost like he was mocking me but I couldn't blame him since I had easily lost the last two fights.
"The winner shall be crowned as the Princess and the future queen of all supernatural creatures. Tonight, Midnight under the full moon shall be the day she will be marked by my son, Alaric." He announced but my heart didn't skip a beat or race like it used to whenever he said something like that. I was rather numb to his words and eagerly waiting for the battle to begin as I wanted nothing more than inflicting pain on Tala and Clara for all they have done to ruin my life.
"Let the battle begin!" He announced as I stood up from my seat and walked towards the middle of the room. Tala was now right in front of me and I was controlling myself to not throw the first punch aa I might not win since I still felt the awful bitter taste in my mouth.
"Now!" The king announced again as he balanced on his throne by placing his hand on his chin.
Tala didn't hesitate to be the first to throw a fist as she caught me off guard with a hard punch. The punch had hit me really badly and I fell to the ground.
I could hear some of the crowd pitying me while some were laughing at me, including Clara. I never thought a mother could hate her own daughter this much until now. She feels no remorse and has no regret for all what she has done to me yet she feels so proud of herself while she boasts about it
At the sight of the smile on her face, I wanted nothing more than seeing the smile turned to sadness and depression.
I instantly stood up and threw a punch at Tala, it had caught her off guard. She tried to return the punch but I was quick to have dodged it but was unfortunate to have not seen the second punch coming.
I found myself yet again on the floor but I refused to be the weakling they turned me to, not even a wolfsbane would stop me from having back my strength. All these while the problem wasn't me but my family. For some stupid reasons they have been poisoning me and tagging me the weakest whereas they were only scared of the capacity of my powers. Scared that I would be the strongest and take all the shine to myself.
I had no idea on how to get my powers back but I will definitely try my best to not lose this match and beat the living hell out of Tala.
On noticing I wasn't fully on the ground, Tala walked towards where I was to hit me again but luckily and strangely, I suddenly felt powerful as I changed positions with her.
I was now on top of her while she was on the floor,she seemed surprised at my reflex but so was I.
I couldn't feel the bitter taste in my mouth anymore and knew the effect of the medicine had begun.
I didn't waste any more time as i repeatedly connected my fist with her evil face until they were all covered in her blood yet I didn't stop. I felt thirsty, thirsty for her blood as the smell of it became so intoxicating to me.
Remembering the words Alaric told me about one of the side effects of the drugs as being a cannibal, I tried to control myself and the urge of sinking my teeth into the flesh of her face.
The crowd all went grave silent as they watched me in awe as I pounced on her and hit her without stopping for a second.
I wasn't satisfied still, my body hadn't gotten what it wanted from her as punching her wasn't enough for me and I took it to the next level by breaking every part of her bones and glorifying her screams.
Her screams were like music to my ears and the shrieks from Clara were the harmony.
"That's enough!" The king commanded but a little too late, I had already disconnected her socket from her body. Some hefty guards rushed to lift me away from her body. She looked like she was almost half dead as her eyes twitched in awe while her body shook from the pain I inflicted on her.
Immediately I was lifted away from her body, Clara went running to her precious daughter on the floor.
I turned to look at Alaric and he seemed to be surprised too but when he noticed I was staring at him,a smile formed on his lips as he clapped his hands.
"I'm proud of you" he silently muttered with a smile as I found myself smiling back. The whole crowd soon started to clap but the King wasn't a fan of any of this.
With a look of disapproval on his face, he lifted his hand and balled them into a fist, silencing everyone in the room.
"Heal her, Diane!" He commanded, the queen was reluctant for a while but had no option but to obey the king and heal Tala by giving her a potion to drink and laying her hands on every broken bone in her body.
"Nevertheless, this doesn't conceal the fact that the young lady laying on the floor had won two battles in a row. Inflicting serious injuries on opponents are also prohibited as I hereby declare Tala Hunter as the winner! " He announced as I stood dumbstruck in the middle of the room. This cannot be happening right now.
