Chapter 44: Chapter 44

"Let me make it up to my baby girl, how about we go on a date?" The text read immediately I swiped my phone open.

How the hell would he think taking me out on a date would be "making it up to me", spending time with him is absolutely nothing but torture.

While scoffing, I thought of different ways to reply his message and really wanted to think of a word that would hurt him badly but after different attempts, I finally gave up and decided to reply with a simple "No" before shoving my phone away and burying my face in my palms as I still couldn't believe what I did to myself since minutes back.

It didn't take long before another message made my phone buzz and at this time, I started to curse the day he knew how to operate a phone because I had always seen him as the old fashioned type and didn't even know he could text.

"I think you need to consider this offer kitty" he replied as my eyes widened in awe with the language he used. Did he just call me a kitten?

I had had enough of his texts and needed to pour out my rage in person as I stormed out of my room in an attempt to talk to him face to face.

On getting to his room, I banged on the door harder than I had ever as I impatiently waited for him to respond.

The door was finally opened, but my whole mood dropped as I sighted the least person I wanted to see right now in his room.

She didn't seem to be happy to see me either but the instant I spotted Alaric seated on a couch in his room I didn't care anymore as I walked past her into the bedroom.

I thought she was going to excuse us and perhaps I'd say my mind to Alaric who was only staring at me with a surprised face. He definitely wasn't expecting me to march into his room but by the look of things he knew I came to rant and a smug smile formed on his lips. How I wish I could slap it off.

"Jenny leave" he commanded her with his usual tone and if it wasn't because I really didn't like her either, I would have scoffed and probably hated Alaric all over again with the way he talked.

"Yes sir" she sighed with her head lowered before walking out of the room and I was finally alone with the beast.

"You bastard..." Before I could finish my statement he pulled me onto his laps catching me off guard and speechless. His grip on me was so firm that trying to escape was a waste of time and energy.

"Leave me the fuck alone!" I warned but I still wasn't taken seriously by him as his smile only got broader.

"Why should I let my kitten loose? She's about to cause a lot of chaos and I can't be held responsible " he said in a low tone that sent shivers down my spine and almost looked like he cooed into my ear.

"Call me a kitten one more time and I swear to the moon goddess you won't see with your two eyes tomorrow " I threatened.

"Okay now I'm scared, you don't want me to call you a kitten anymore right? " He asked but I kept quiet while trying to calm myself down and maybe not separate his body from his head. Not like I could succeed in doing that but my toxic trait thinks I could easily get away with it.

"Alright fine, you win, I won't call you my kitten anymore" He finally gave in after some minutes of silence from me.

"Thank you" I bluntly responded and tried to get up from his lap since he had released me from his grip.

"But won't you at least consider taking my offer? I promise you it's a really great offer" He immediately said and tightened his grip on me before I could release myself.

"What Is it that you've been disturbing me about?" I yelled in frustration as I slapped my forehead.

"Well now I'm offended,  I thought you'd be happier to hear that I'm lifting the lockdown for everyone's freedom for you but then I guess I must have been wrong" He sighed and totally released his grip on me as he gently removed me from his body and stood up to walk to the other side of the room.

My whole system and head came back to its senses on hearing that he was finally going to release us from the bondage after months of being locked in the pack house like prisoners and I might have just ruined the chance.

"Wait!" I yelled at the top of my lungs the moment I realized I was about to give up a golden opportunity.

"Hm?" He cocked his brow up at me as I released a heavy breath.  The last thing I would want is to drop my ego and accept his condition but then by doing that I would also gain freedom from him. Besides what could possibly go wrong? He was my mate anyway and had proposed a 3 month offer for me to fall in love with him.

"Just a date right?" I asked again.

"Relax, I would never do anything bad to hurt you" he replied and I sighed before nodding my head in approval and I could see the smirk tucking at the corner of his lips. He really knew that I was going to accept the condition.

"But you have to announce it to everyone right now!" I commanded while standing In front of him and even though this wasn't the right time, I finally realized how tiny I was, standing in front of his huge body and he must probably think I'm a joke right now.

"Lead the way" He responded with a smile and I sighed before walking out of the room while he followed behind.

I instantly stopped walking the moment we got close to the huge ball room because I didn't want any attention to fall on me while he lifted the lockdown.

He seemed to realize why I didn't want to go any further and didn't push it. I watched as he called for the school's mistress to gather up everyone in the pack house and in no time the room was filled up and packed with different wolves.

When everything seemed to be arranged and the noise died down he finally stood up from the huge throne in the middle of the room to announce his news.

"I have something important to announce and I know most of you have been waiting for this time for almost all your lives" He said with a stern face and I could not even see a tiny bit of emotion on his face.

"Since you've been here for some months, I think you should be quite aware of how my rules work and have matured enough to finally be free. I have decided to lift the lockdown and everyone is free to go out of the pack house right from this moment "

"However,  the normal activities outside the pack house would commence and most of all, schooling shall commence with full force." He finished his statement and with that,  he walked away from the hall while everyone still stood frozen on their spot until he was finally out of sight.

The murmurs started as everyone's eyes were fixed on the huge gates that were being opened but no one still dared to walk out of the gates.

Even though he had lifted the lockdown and it was totally safe to go out, not a single wolf dared to walk out of the gates as no one would like to be a scapegoat until all of a sudden a loud scream of joy was heard from a wolf as he ran through the crowd and outside the gates.

We all watched as his legs never stopped running but nothing happened to him when he left the gates, it was then everyone believed Alaric and knew they were finally free as they all screamed in Joy and ran out of the pack house.

The ones running out of the pack house were mainly the male wolves as most female wolves ran to their rooms to pack their bags and kiss the rooms goodbye.  It was truly a lovely sight to behold and I was truly pleased with Alaric.

While students were running from one place to another, my eyes fell on Ariel as she looked too stunned to speak but was really happy. I watched as her mate sneaked up on her from behind and gave her a tight hug but she was clearly in the mood for something else as she returned the hug with a deep passionate kiss.

Surprisingly they didn't kiss for too long as her eyes finally met with mine. She ran towards me and hugged me tight. I suddenly remembered how her hug felt. With all that has been happening it somewhat felt like we were drifting apart and I really hated that feeling but on the bright side, since we're free from the bondage maybe things could go back to how they were.

"Did you tell him to do this?" She squeaked immediately when she got to me.

"No, he proposed it himself and I'm also surprised but glad he did it" I responded.

"I bet he did it because of you" She winked and I didn't realize I was starting to blush as my cheeks burned. I didn't just blush because of Alaric.

"Anyway I really have to go now, I'll talk to you later!" She squeaked as she wiggled her butt away to meet her mate.

"Don't forget to call me!" I yelled after her but she might have probably not heard me.

Immediately she left my phone buzzed and for some moment I thought she was the one who texted but on checking my phone it was Alaric and he had sent another text.

"Dinner by 8pm today. You'll meet something nice in your room to wear" the text read and a smile appeared on my face as I bit my lips really hard to stop myself from smiling.

I immediately left where I was standing as I made way to my room but the whole pack house was still busy as different wolves were still running around the hallway and it made me happy but unfortunately I had to come face to face with the person I thought I would never see anymore. Tala.

ALARIC'S POV.

A broad smile was on my face as I remembered her child-like attitude around me before she stormed out of the room but immediately she left, a knock was heard on my door and I thought she came back but then I doubt she'd knock as softly as this.

I immediately caught up with the scent of the person behind the door and it was Jenny. I heaved a heavy breath before responding.

"It's open" I said as the door knob clicked open and she walked into the room with her head bowed.

"Your highness sir, there's something I would like to discuss with you" she said with her head still bowed and with the look on her face it seemed to be important so I might as well pay attention to her.

"What is it?" I asked but there was a total silence from her for some while leaving me wondering if what she wanted to say was really too heavy for her mouth.

"I don't have all the time in the world, Jenny " I growled, I was starting to get impatient with the silence.

"I want you to lift the lockdown!" She finally said as my brows furrowed in anger.
