Chapter 29: Chapter 29
"Lenora!" I howled as loud as I could under the moon light but I still couldn't find her anywhere. That means they haven't taken her out of the pack house yet but were probably still hiding somewhere in the building.
But if they were to be in the building then it shouldn't take me up to a minute to sniff them out. I stormed back into the pack house to meet the couple still quivering and moaning in pain on the ground while some wolves were watching.
On seeing me, the whole crowd became silent as they instantly knew I wasn't in a good mood because of my aura. They all shook in fear and bowed simultaneously while I scanned the whole room and howled loudly causing them all to flinch and Josh ran towards me with his head bowed.
"What has angered you my lord" he politely asked while I was still fuming and my beast wasn't ready to be calmed.
"Search every corner for Lenora, now!" I ordered and watched how he ordered some really enormous number of guards and assigned them to different positions all under two minutes. They were soon in their designated positions looking and searching for her but minutes passed and she was nowhere to be found. Neither could I perceive her smell anywhere near the pack.
I had no idea how she had left but my mind decided to blame it on that one badly scalded wolf that was lying on the floor, he was the only nemesis I had here in the pack and he should have had something to do with Lenora.
"Where is she!" I growled at him as he stared at me with his hopeless eyes that were filled with hatred . I didn't even care about the fact that his skin would be really feeble at the moment. I held his neck tightly so that they could rip off any moment while I continuously asked him where Lenora was.
"I don't know, '' he managed to say while his hands were trying to stop mine from choking him but it had no effect on me as they were too weak to do anything.
"I'm sure you have another accomplice which you had asked to kidnap Lenora once I get you, that's your scheme so I wouldn't kill you right?" I roared at him as my hand was still holding his neck really tight as his legs weren't on the ground anymore.
"Where is she? Answer me!" I roared again to the point of it making the walls in the room to shake.
"I don't know" he answered again as he was trying to gasp for air to breathe
"Then I guess you'll know in hell!" I threatened but this time it wasn't an empty threat as I really meant every word I said. My fists were now tight on his neck and I watched him gag for air to breathe.
He was just some seconds close to death before Josh ran towards me along with Jenny by his side, begging to release him.
"Please be calm my lord, I'm sure we'll find her before you even know it. I understand you're angry at the moment but please be calm" Jenny begged as she bowed to me with her head on my legs while Josh on the other hand only bowed.
"I don't think it'll be helpful if we kill him now, he might happen to know where she is as it happens that she's nowhere near this pack anymore" he said in a soft but strong tone while i released Asher and flung him on the ground.
"You better not be involved with this, else!" I threatened the gagging bastard on the floor before storming away.
LENORA'S POV
I realised that if I needed to run away from the pack house, It wouldn't just be a child's play if I didn't want to be caught and I needed to be smart.
With every bit of strength In me, I immediately rushed towards my room and brought a bottle of spray I had been hiding for a while. I never knew it would eventually be of use one day as my grandma had given it to me when I was still young in case of any emergency.
Without packing any clothes because I knew he would be after me the moment he would realise I was gone, I sprayed the liquid on my body as I silently prayed that it still had its effects over the years and wouldn't make my plan go total haywire.
It was supposed to conceal my scent and make it really hard for them to trace me, although the potion could wither off after a week but I guess it would be enough time to have left anywhere close to florida because it would be damn easy to find me in any pack closer to florida.
I decided I also needed to change my look a little as I instantly wore some joggers and sweatshirts shirts that would conceal my feminine attributes and I packed my hair up to make it look short as I wore a face cap on it.
I looked into the mirror and realised I wasn't looking masculine enough but with the concealed smell, it should at least take me somewhere far away from here.
Since I wasn't really a fan of wearing masculine dresses, I think this should maybe work as no one would easily suspect. To complete the look,I put on some male sunshades as I wore some booths and left my room for the library.
I knew I couldn't leave the house just yet as Alaric would make sure to check outside the house first before taking any other step and I couldn't be that stupid.
In no time I heard footsteps rushing into the library as I settled down for a sit and brought out a textbook, since I literally looked like a nerd right now this should be the perfect plan for me.
The guards opened the library door and scanned everywhere until they finally saw me and my heart raced even faster when one of the guards approached me but I released a deep breath the moment his stone cold eyes drifted away from me to concentrate on other aisles in the library and I thanked goodness that the concealing potion had worked perfectly for me.
I waited for some while until I could no longer smell them anywhere close and their footsteps slowly receded.
I tried to use my wolf hearing senses to listen to the conversation going on in the hall but I couldn't hear anything, it was too far from the library. I only wished that they had stopped searching already by now so it was the best time to sneak out of the pack house. I passed the back gates of the enormous mansion and surprisingly no one was here guarding it.
I tried to remember the exact hole where Asher had told me to pass through when I went to pay my grandmother a visit and in no time I found it and escaped just in time before a guard arrived at the scene pointing his flashlight around. I immediately used some leaves to cover the hole and ran as fast as my legs could carry me.
This was my new life now, as a rogue away from my pack and home. Hell, I had no home back there and I could only hope for the best in this journey of mine.
I had sneaked some money away from my room and on getting to the main road, I was able to find a cab which I immediately stopped. I had no idea where I was going but I knew if I told him I was going away from Florida he would be suspecting me since he was a werewolf so I had just mentioned the next bus stop and I would continue to do so until I finally left Florida.
The cab driver tried to start up a conversation with me but little did he know that I wouldn't respond back since I still had a feminine voice. I had tried to say the name of my next stop in a masculine voice even though it sounded thrash.
He turned on the radio to a station which was playing music but it didn't even take up to two seconds before the music abruptly stopped and emergency information started to ring out.
It was from my pack and I had immediately recognised the voice but they had been so quick to contact a radio station because they were in search of me.
The cab driver stared at me through the rear mirror and I had guessed he must be having doubts about me but had immediately shrugged it off since I didn't look like a teenage female according to what the news was describing me as.
After taking some more cabs, I was finally out of Florida and far away from the state but it had already been dawn and then dusk again and I realized I was really tired.
I didn't have enough money on me to rent a hotel since I heard it was really expensive here so I was just going to do what other rogues would have done and that was sleeping in the woods all night hoping they wouldn't get attacked by other wild beasts or even other rogues and then they hunt for food.
It was really risky but then I guess I had to take the risks since I had decided to leave the comfort of my pack and become a rogue. I hadn't just come up with the decision without any valid reason but I had thought of it and it was the best.
It would be best if I left Asher to be with Tala and not show my face to any of them and Ariel on the other hand would be super mad at me and I promise to call her when I finally settle.
But then,I couldn't really call her since it would make her know about my whereabouts and that could put her in danger if she didn't tell the prince at once. No! I can't do that to her so it was best I just forget everything about that and enjoy my new life.
After walking In the woods for some while I was finally able to see the perfect place I could settle in. It looked like a cave but wasn't a cave, it was just surrounded with rocks and there were some thick leaves above it that would definitely shield me from the rain if it were to rain. In the middle of the rocks were some soft leaves that almost made it look like someone had used this place before me and I silently prayed the person won't be back anytime soon as I walked towards the bed.
My stomach made a gurgling sound and I realised I hadn't eaten since the last food Asher had given me. I was really hungry but I didn't think I would be able to find what to eat. Otherwise I would rest by sleeping first. So yeah I was going to sleep with an empty grumbling stomach.
I was glad I wore some thick clothing as it was really cold and I reached for the bed to settle my butt on but something immediately happened and in no time I felt my head being pounded by rocks as I fell into a pit and my vision instantly went blank.
