Chapter 72: Chapter 72

Beating Heart

Natasha.

The bad feeling I had earlier today when I woke up was back and it felt stronger and stronger each second.

I couldn't help but feel scared for Dante. He and Nathan were trapped with the enemy right now and anything could happen.

What if he was tortured? Or even maimed? Worse, but if they took his life.

"Are you okay?" Killian who was driving us to the location where the phone number was tracked to looked side way and asked.

"I can hear your rapid heartbeat," he stated and I simply shook my head.

"I'm okay," I replied and he stared at me for a while, looking unconvinced before facing the road.

"We are almost there. It's the next street," Killian informed me and I began to silently tap my foot on the floor of the car, counting the seconds till we would get there.

Killian drifted sharply to the left and the seat belt strapped on me was the only thing that prevented me from hitting my head on the dashboard.

The car soon came to a halt and I quickly unbuckled the seat belt, opening the door, and climbing down quickly.

I looked around, observing the surrounding. There were trees all around and the place was awfully quiet.

Killian pointed at a building and I looked at the only building here.

"There."

It was a two storey building and it seemed very very old and deserted. The elements had taken its toll on the roof and it looked like it would blow away at any second.

Killian closed the door and we slowly walked closer to the building. I saw that there was a black SUV parked at the side of the building and I directed Killian's attention to it.

He nodded. As we got closer to the house, I began to smell Vampire blood and I could also sense Dante's presence.

"Dante is inside," I said quickly and I began to run towards the building.

"Slow down!" Killian exclaimed quietly and he ran after him. I heard grunts and Dante's groan as I closer, but before I could open the door, Killian grabbed me and pulled me back.

"We don't know what's happening, it could dangerous," I heard his voice in my head. It was a telepathic message since I was not officially a part of the Black Cedar Pack.

He thought about it and opened his mind to me so we wouldn't be heard. There was no way I could communicate back with him so I pointed at my ears and the door so he could listen to the sound coming from inside.

He nodded and he immediately kicked the door open. I ran in and saw a man holding his wings to Dante's throat. I gasped silently as I saw the cut in Dante's chest. It wasn't at his heart, but he was bleeding and trying to stop I with his hand. I got mad immediately and I growled at the Vampire

The Vampire was so confident that he'd win because it wasn't a full moon, but I decided to surprise him and I extended my fangs and claws.

He slashed two daggers at me, but I knocked one of them way and I slid my leg on the floor, hitting his legs and causing him to trip to the floor, landing heavily on his back.

I panted heavily as I stood over him and I looked up at Dante who was resting weakly on the wall.

Before I knew it, the Vampire kicked me twice on the chest and he slashed my right arm with a dagger, causing me to cry in pain as blood spurted out.

Dante tried to help, but he pushed him back suddenly stabbed me in the abdomen with a silver plated wings.

I gasped and groaned in pain as I could feel his wing inside me.

He pulled it out forcefully and I groaned again. Thinking that he had successfully ended me, he turned around and walked towards Lycian who had taken down the other Vampire here.

I placed my palm on my stomach to stop the blood flow so I wouldn't pass out and I tried not to groan as I walked away from the wall.

I zoomed at the Vampire swiftly and just as he turned around to face me, I drove my hand into his chest.

He gasped and his wings slowly folded back in. I could feel my hand wrapped around his beating heart and I began to panic.

I was holding someone's life in my hand and it scared the shit out of me. I didn't know if I wanted to kill someone or if I would be able to handle it. His heart throbbed in my hand and I knew that just one move of my hand would end his life.

I didn't want to kill someone, especially not in a fight I know nothing about or someone who I don't know. That is if I ignore the fact that he stabbed me with his silver plated wings to kill me.

I slowly reduced my grip on his heart and I was about to pull out his heart when Dante suddenly dashed towards me and he pulled my elbow forcefully, causing me to yank out the Vampire's heart from his chest.

He gasped froze in place as his body slowly started to lose color and turn grey. As he fell to the ground, I noticed his heart in my hand and it was beating slowly.

I panicked and I quickly dropped it to the floor.

"Fuck you Javier," Dante muttered and as I faced him, I noticed that his eyelids were shutting and I quickly caught him before he could fall.

With Dante lying unconsciously in my hand, I heard a creaking sound and looked up to see Nathan climbing down the stairs. He looked like he also had something to deal with as his cloth was stained with blood and there were cuts on his body.

"What'd I miss?"
