Chapter 73: Chapter 73

Sandy’s POV

Seven years of wandering, seven years of hopelessness had taken a toll on me. I never realised how simple and carefree my life had been before I met Ora. Even so, I couldn’t bring myself to regret meeting her. I am sure I wouldn’t regret meeting her even if I had to spend my entire life laying in wait.

This pain of separation, this desperation had become a part of my life now. I had learnt to embrace it. It was proof of my love, my bond with Ora. I often wondered what would happen when she woke up. Would she still be angry at me for betraying her. Would she refuse to talk to me or say harsh words? Or would she understand that my feelings are genuine and accept me?

A guard came running over. Almost bumping into me, he said in a breathless voice, “Ora has woke up.”

My ears rang and my body went limp. Did he just say that Ora had woken up? No, I must have heard it wrong. Gulping the lump that had formed in my throat, I croaked, “What did you just say?”

“Madam Ora has woken up and the healer has said that she will recover soon,” I broke into a run before he could even finish his sentence. I was in the orchard behind the packhouse. It usually took about five minutes to reach Ora’s bedroom.

I swear these were the slowest five minutes of my life; my legs wouldn’t just move fast enough. I stumbled on the second stair, almost falling down. But, I managed to grab the railing on time. My feet suddenly came to a halt when I was in the corridor.

Suddenly, I didn’t know what to do. Kevin saw me in the corridor and came running. He pulled me into an embrace and patted my back, “She is awake, Sandy. Ora is finally awake.”

If it wasn’t for Kevin grabbing my hand and leading me to her bedroom, my feet would have given way. My breathing hitched and my heart stopped beating when I saw her sitting on the bed. Her eyes met mine and her lips spread in the most beautiful smile I have ever seen.

Tears rolled down my cheeks like a torrential rainfall. How many times had I imagined her sitting up one day and smiling at me? The scene was so beautiful that it was painful.

She scrambled out of the bed and rushed towards me. Throwing her arms around me, she clung to me before bursting into sobs. We stayed like that for a long time; just holding each other. I guess I needed to reassure myself that she was really awake.

When I finally pulled away, I found that the others had already left. Caressing her cheeks with the back of my hand, I stated, “My sleeping beauty has finally woken up.”

She blushed and lowered her gaze making her look so adorable. I hadn’t seen Ora blush earlier. She was usually so bold and tough. I cupped her face and looked into her eyes, “Do you have any idea how beautiful you are?”

Her face flushed further and she shook her head, “I don’t know because no one has ever told me before.”

My lips pressed into thin line, “That is such a pity.” My eyes lit up with a mirthful twinkle, “You deserve to be told that you are gorgeous every single day that too with flowers.”

“And who is going to do that?” She said as she buried her head against my chest; her voice dropping to a bare whisper.

“I have already been doing that for the past seven years, Ora and I intend to continue doing it for the rest of my life.”

She raised her head and looked at me with doe like eyes, her gaze piercing the depths of my soul, “Did you really mean it?”

“Did I mean what?”

“You said that you wanted to attend Ayana’s unification ceremony like a couple….”

“Oh… that… That is just a wish of my shattered heart, Ora. I won’tt rush you into doing something you don’t want.”

“But, I want to, Sandy. I want to spend the rest of my life fulfilling all the wishes of your shattered heart until it is whole again.”

I had resolved to take everything slow with Ora given that she had been in a vegetative state for seven years. But, after hearing her words, I couldn’t restrain myself any longer and crushed her lips with mine. She laced her fingers through my hair and kissed me back with equal fervor.

Her eyes teared up as she pulled away to catch her breath, “I don’t know what I have done to deserve you, Sandy but I promise to treasure this bond we have for the rest of my life.”

“As I will treasure and worship you, Ora…” I placed a soft kiss at the corner of her lips before carrying her to bed. I poured seven years of suppressed feelings and desires into that one night of love making. I wanted to mold myself into her in such a way that nothing could separate us ever again, not even darkness.

Things escalated pretty quickly and soon we were both consumed by the fire of sweet passion. That one night of brightness was enough to wipe out the darkness of despair that had been tormenting me for the past seven years.

Epilogue

Exactly one month later, Kevin hosted the grandest unification ceremony in the history of werewolves. It was time for double celebrations. Both his siblings were going to be married at the same time.

Ayana and Eric; Ora and Sandy; took their vows under the harvest moon. Invitations were send out to werewolves and witches alike; King Augustine being the guest of honour.

There was such joy, such jubilation in the atmosphere; it was like the moon goddess had scattered the stars of happiness as a blessing to the Mystical Pack.
