Chapter 58: Chapter 58

Ora’s POV

After all the preparations were done, I sat down with my legs crossed and placed both my hands on his head; softly chanting the spell I had memorized. I didn’t know what to expect. Nobody I knew that tried something of this sort before.

For a very long time, all I could feel was the damp, foggy wind in the cave; all I could hear was my erratic heartbeats and the soft blend of Nivaan’s even breathing with my uneven ones. The words, the ritual seemed to be having no effect at all.

Weariness started creeping on me and for a moment I contemplated giving up on the ritual. But, then Evaan’s face flashed in my mind. Drawing in a deep breath, I started chanting the spell with renewed vigor.

All of a sudden, like a flash of blinding light; all of NIvaan’s memories slammed into me. My head throbbed as they drowned me in their torrential cyclone. My memories started getting mixed with his creating a state of utter chaos.

I remained sitting still with my hand on his head but my mind; my mind was breaking down from the strain. Nivaan’s memories confused me. My own memories were getting blurred. Some part of my brain registered some warm fluid trickling down my nose.

This acted as a trigger for panic and gave me the impetus needed to focus on the second part of the spell. I gathered all his memories one by one using magic and projected it back to Nivaan. My entire body had started shaking by now. It was becoming increasingly difficult to keep my hands stable on Nivaan’s head. But. I held on with everything I had got. If I stopped at this point, we both would probably end up losing our minds.

When the spell was finally done, the breath that I had been holding escaped my lips as a strong gust. I was so drained that I sat there like a corpse; still, unmoving. I didn’t even have the energy to take off my hand off his forehead.

“Valence! Let me go!” Nivaan shouted as he sat up with a gasp. “I need to go and meet Emilia. She is about to give…..” His voice trailed as his gaze landed on me. “Who are you?” His eyes widened, “Are you here to stop me from meeting my mate?”

He didn’t look confused anymore; the light of consciousness shining bright in his eyes made everything worthwhile. My lips curved into a contented smile, “I am here to take you to take you to your mate; to you son….”

“My son….” He gasped, “Emilia gave birth to a son.” Tears brimmed in his eyes. “You are a witch too, right? Please take me to the hospital quickly. I can’t wait to take my baby in my arms….”

“I will take you to see them….” I said, standing up and holding out my hand. His eyes brimmed with gratitude, “Thank you.”

Drawing in a deep breath, I teleported him to the forest where Evaan’s cottage was. I knew it was risky to enter the territory of werewolves but I couldn’t just let Nivaan wander.

“Why did you bring me here?” A deep frown settled on his forehead. Then, he glared at me, “Are you trying to play games with me?”

“I am not playing any games, NIvaan. I really want you to be united with your son.” My gaze drifted to the cottage as I continued, “Evaan must be inside the cottage with his mother. I heard that Emilia has grounded him after he tried to escape and save you.”

“Wait…. I can’t understand… How can….”

I grasped his hand and looked at him, “You have been missing for five years, Nivaan….”

He staggered and almost stumbled, “I still can’t get what you are saying….”

I wanted to tell him the entire story but a distant howl made my skin prickle. The wolves had probably sensed me. “Just go inside, Nivaan. Emilia will explain everything to you.”

He seemed relieved by the fact that Emilia was inside as well. He took a shaky step towards the cottage. It was then that my eyes landed on the golden bracelet around his wrist. My heart skipped a beat. He couldn’t see his son with the bracelet on.

F***! What was I supposed to do now? It is in such dire times that you get the craziest of ideas.

“NIvaan! Wait! I need to take off that bracelet first….” I said rushing to block his path. My ears perked. I could hear the rustling of the leaves and crunching of the branches. The werewolves would be here any moment.

I grabbed his hand and started chanting the spell as fast as he could. Startled by my sudden move Nivaan tried to pull away but I held on. There was no time for any explanations.

The moment the spell ended, the bracelet appeared around my wrist. Exactly at this moment Nivaan’s eyes widened in shock. My heart skipped a beat. The werewolves were here.

“Go inside the cottage, Now!” I said, pushing him towards the cottage. Thankfully, he listened and staggered along. I could sense the werewolves closing on me. There were at least ten of them. They were drawing closer; slowly, one step at a time.

I know I should have left but I wanted to make sure that Emilia saw him. It would be such a waste if Evaan wasn’t united with his father even after all this effort.

The door swung open and a woman stepped out. The expression on her face was enough to tell me that she was Emilia. Right at that moment, a sharp gust of wind hit me. I moved to one side as a reflex and teleported.

I caught a glance of the wolf who had missed me just before I disappeared. That was a close shave. One moment of hesitation and I could have ended up dead. But, that didn’t matter anymore.

What mattered was that Evaan could finally have a complete family.
