Chapter 71: Chapter 71

Lily walked up the stage while all the eyes wondered who the CEO of JenLi was.

"Why is this wretch on the stage instead of the CEO? Just by looking at her makes me want to kill her", said Lily's thrid aunt in a hateful tone.

Everyone in the Sheng family hated Lily since she was the favourite child of the old man.

"Good evening, everyone. Without beating around the bushes, I'll come to the point. I, Lily Sheng, is the the owner of JenLi Interiors."

As soon as those words left Lily's lips, some felt proud while the Sheng family felt as if they had seen ghost. Everyone stared at Lily as if she was joking but given her expressions it didn't seem like she would joke about something like this.

The announcement itself was a face slap to everyone who looked down on her and thought she was useless and good for nothing.

"I know that the reporter buddies here are eager to throw their questions on me so you may began now", Lily said sarcastically earning light chuckles from everyone.

"Ms. Sheng, why did you keep your identity hidden for so long?"

"I was out of the country for studies as everyone knows and returned only a few months back. I wanted to keep it secret until I reached to the top."

"Why did you open your seperate company when you had Sheng corporation?"

"Well, everyone has the right to be independent."

Lily answered a few more questions about her company before the reporters decided to take it to another level.

"Miss. Sheng, as everyone present here knows you were out of the country for studies. Do you care to tell us in which university you graduated from?"

"It was private schooling."

"Will there be more collaborations with the Collins Group in future?"

"That depends on Mr. Collins if he likes our work", she said as she looked Adrian who simply smiled at her.

"Miss. Sheng, there are so many young men in this hall and its said that they have come because you are going to choose a partner for yourself. Is it true?"

"How come I don't know?", Lily asked in a confused tone.

"So you are saying all of that is a rumour?"

"Does it look like I'm going to date anyone of the men present in this hall? Is there anyone among all these men who can match my capability or status? If so then sure I'll date that person", she answered in an arrogant tone.

"Well, don't you think Mr. Andres is a great candidate for you? He is rich and upto your status", the reporter said.

"Sorry, I don't like scumbags."

Everyone in the hall went silent when they heard her.

Damn, she was too straightforward, wasn't she?

That was a great face slap.

Adrian who was standing to the right felt satisfied by her answer.

"Then what about the Mr. Adrian Collins?", the reporter asked curiously.

"Hmm. Well, I said a man to date. I didn't ask for a husband material", Lily said with a smirk as her eyes wandered to the man who had a glass of champagne in his hand while his lips curved up in a smirk.

Everyone in the room chuckled hearing her answer except Sam and his friends.

"Does that mean you would marry Mr. Collins if give a chance?"

"Uh-huh! You seem to have a lot of interest about who I'd marry or date. Why? You are interested in me or what?", Lily asked raising her brows.

She had a great way of interacting with the media. All the reporters laughed hearing her answers and enjoyed their conversation with her.

"Who wouldn't be interested in you, Miss. Sheng?", A reporter shouted.

"Why? Ain't I an ugly, mannerless and rebellious abandoned child? Isn't that what you guys always wrote about me since I was small? What happened now? Just because I own the world's largest interior firm, I became a goddess?", Lily threw each question like an arrow piercing through everyone's skull.

All the reporters went silent and no one dared to speak a single word.

"Is that all you had for me? I shall take my leave then", she said after a few seconds of silence then turned to leave when a female reporter spoke.

"You denied the fact that you would never date Mr. Andres then why are you close to his daughter? Is there any malicious relationship between both of you that you're trying to hide?"

Lily faced the team of reporters again and spoke in a clear and firm tone.

"Well, Miss...?"

"Olivia"

"Mm. Miss. Olivia, having a good relation with one's child doesn't mean you have a close relationship with their parents as well. Also, I think you did hear me properly I said I don't date scumbags but did I ever mention about his daughter? Stop slandering me for things which are pointless."

"Also, do enjoy the dinner. I personally picked the menu", with that Lily walked down the stage.

Lily looked at the man who had a proud smile on his face and felt happy. She so wanted to run into his arms right now but she couldn't. She just couldn't wait to reach home and hug him tightly and get his pats and kisses.

The interview as well as the announcement was a perfect face slap to everyone who came to look down on her or to make marriage alliances with her.

Lily came down the stage and hugged her grandfather who was feeling proud of his granddaughter. She looked towards the table where the Collins family was sitting.

The entire Collins family raised their glass to cheer her up which made her more happy.

She walked towards them.

"Sister in law, you were amazing. I never knew you had such great PR skills", Ryan complimented.

"Afterall whose wife is she?", Adrian came and spoke in a proud tone.

"Hah! What are you proud of? If it wasn't for us urging father to arrange the marriage, you'd still be just staring at her from far away. Thank me and your mom for it", Alicia said proudly as she shook hands with her sister in law.

"Exactly. If we hadn't asked you to marry my beautiful daughter in law, she'd have found herself another partner. Just look around there are so many men waiting to be noticed by her", Jennifer said when she saw the frown on her son's face which dampened his mood more.

Lily felt her jaw drop upon hearing the piece of revelation. She looked at Adrian who had a gloomy aura surrounding him. She squeezed his hand secretly and smiled at him which lifted his mood slightly.

"Don't mind them, sister in law", Noah said feeling embarrassed by his mother and aunt. Lily simply gave a nod and excused herself but Adrian held her back. Lily gave a pat on his hand walked away.

Lily went to look for Sanna but the kid was nowhere to seen and neither Sam or the others. She thought they left so she texted Sanna who confirmed that they indeed left.

Seems the man couldn't take on the embarrassment and left.

Lily couldn't help but chuckle internally thinking of his raged face when she answered the question.

Hah! You cheated on me so you have to pay the price for betrayal.

'Once a traitor, always a traitor. Yet again, I did give a lot of chances to change. Such a scum you are! I hate myself for loving a person like you. I'm disgusted to have loved you.'

Lily was too angry thinking of how he shamelessly flirted with her dispute having that so called girlfriend of his.

She picked up a glass of champagne and started taking sip. She looked around and a vicious smile appeared on her face.

Just as she finished the glass of champagne, Adrian came towards her. "Adrian, I'm drugged. Take me from here", she whispered before she started walking towards her grandfather and some important guests to bid goodbye.
