Chapter 35: Chapter 35

Lily reached the base by four in the morning and reported in the captain's office.

Wearing the army uniform, she looked more domineering than ever and much responsible. Her hairs were tied in a bun and there was a cap on her head. Her hands covered with leather gloves like always whenever she was on the base.

"Have you forgotten who you are, Officer Lily?", Captain Rafael Davis shouted. Lily frowned as she looked at him with confusion all over her face. "Did you forget you have a mission to command?"

Lily furrowed her brows and said sternly, "But I was told I can't go on the mission."

Captain frowned and looked at her as he said, "For what? You're going to keep that child? You're still young, Lily. Young people do such mistake but it doesn't mean you have to keep that mistake with you."

Lily's face turned cold and the air in the room turned colder than it already was. "This is not a mistake. My child is not a mistake, it's my blood. I never knew you were like this, Captain Rafael."

"Lily, I know you might have some emotional attachment but your duty comes first. Abort the child. You still have a long way in your career, don't let an illegitimate child take your success."

Lily's eyes turned red when she heard him and she spoke in a much colder tone now, "This isn't an illegitimate child. I dare you to say that again then see. I'll forget who you are. I don't give a damn now if you give me remarks for my unkind behaviour but as a mother I won't let you speak ill of my child."

Captain Rafael got more angry hearing her tone. No one has ever talked to him like she did. "Do you even know who the father is? I know this might be from the mission..."

Lily cut him off angrily and said, "For your kind information, I never slept with any of those filthy men from those missions. Also, I wonder what the father of my child will do to you if he comes to know what you said about us. You'll regret each word you said today."

"Oh as for my responsibilities towards the country, I know what I have to do. I resign right now."

"Lily, you will be nothing if you leave army. Your parents don't accept you anyways. Are you planning on living with the influence of your grandfather and using his name all the time?", the captain scoffed while Lily raised a brow.

"We'll see what I am after I leave army", Lily said and walked out of the office.

She went to the tent and changed into casual clothes that she wore earlier. After folding her uniform, she kissed them and smiled. "I didn't want to disrespect you but I have no other choice left", she said looking at the clothes and sighed deeply.

She took her clothes with herself and went to give her resignation letter to the captain's office.

"Lily, I'm still giving you the chance. You will have no name if you leave army", the captain said when he saw Lily leaving. She turned to him and said in an arrogant tone, "I'll see if army is anything with the angry phoenix."

She left without letting the man speak anymore.

Lily got into her car and left for New York.

On the way back, her mobile rang displaying her father's number. Her mood that was already ruined was much worse now. She did not want to speak to that man at all.

Why was she so unfortunate in having parents?

Her mobile stopped ringing after a while and she sighed thinking he wouldn't call again but she was wrong. The annoying name once again appeared on her mobile display. She least wanted to hear whatever he had to say.

However, she picked up the call just when it was about to hang up.

As soon as she picked up the call, her father's loud voice rang on the other side. "Lily, don't you know to pick up the call of your father? How ungrateful can you be? We have been searching for a good man for you but you don't even appreciate it."

Lily's face turned cold when she heard his words.

"First of all, I never asked you to search for any man for me. I don't want to marry those jerks you choose for me. And second, you got no right to call yourself my father when you never really looked out for me or took my responsibility."

"You!! You're nothing without my name, you ungrateful brat."

"Well, I never used your name. Also not like you don't use my grandfather's name, so I'm much better off than you. I don't want your dirty name anyways. And yes, next time remember I am a Sheng too. I have much more capabilities than you and I can destroy you in a snap of my fingers."

Her father laughed sarcastically on the other line hearing her. He thought she had gone crazy.

"You? Destroy me? Just because you have father backing you up everytime doesn't mean you can be all arrogant."

Lily rolled her eyes and thought she was only wasting her time talking to this person, so she just hung up on him. After all, who the hell was he? She had power, he could do nothing to her now.

"Drive to Andres Groups", she ordered to ther driver and rested her head in the seat.

After about three hours, she reached Andres Groups. She checked the time and saw it was almost 10 am by now. She got down from her car and walked inside the tall building.

People in the lobby greeted her respectfully and let her in.

Lily was so tired that she did not bother to even acknowledge anyone properly but the people around knew how she was so they did not mind at all. They were happy to have her there.

She took the elevator and reached the CEO'S office. She opened the door and entered the office to see Sam working on his laptop but when he heard the door open, he looked up at her and smiled.

Lily said nothing and went up to him then sat on his laps. Sam was confused for a while and knew something might have happened but he waited calmly for her to settle down first. He hugged her and caressed her hairs slowly calming her nerves.

"What happened, wifey?", He asked slowly not wanting to rush her up just now. She shook her head and sniffed his manly scent that intoxicated her entire senses. She closed her eyes and leaned her head on his broad shoulder.

"Are you hiding something from me, my crybaby?", He asked in a doubtful tone while he continued to cares her hairs. She hummed in a daze as she slowly started drifting off to sleep. He looked looked at her and kissed her cheek.

Lily snuggled close to him and drifted off to sleep.

Sam sighed and decided he would have to postpone the session of question and answer with her. He kissed her forehead and hugged her tightly as he rubbed her back slowly.

He stood up and carried her to his adjacent private room in his office and laid her on the bed. She looked like an immortal sleeping on the bed, so beautiful just like an angel.

"My love, all the hardships you went through will be worth from now on. My word to you, my world", he whispered while he stroked her hairs and kissed all over her face making her smile unconsciously.

He chuckled upon seeing her reaction and patted her cheek lovingly.

"Such a cutie lil baby you are!"
