Chapter 29: Chapter 29

Lily checked in the hotel she was staying at and went to her hotel room. As she laid on the bed after getting freshened up, she started recollecting her memories with the city and sighed deeply.

She looked around and saw a bottle of wine. She grabbed the bottle and poured some wine in the glass then picked it to her lips but stopped.

'Don't drink unless you want me to drink a crate of bottles full of some alcohol.'

Lily chuckled as she remembered the words of Sam and shook her head keeping the glass away on the table. "You still dare occupy my mind even when I'm miles away from you, huh!?", she asked to no one specific while she stared at the glass of wine kept in front of her.

...

The next day Lily woke up early and got ready after shower wearing a light pink chiffon sleeveless top and beige tulip designed midi skirt. She let her hairs down and put on light pink lip gloss.

Lily got into her car and drove to one of the interior part of the city. The part was almost developed like that of the main city but still there were still a few underdeveloped region here. Her car drove to one of the plot that was located near the area right in front of a residential area.

The plot was big enough to make an entire residential area as well a big company.

As she got down from her car, people from the nearby place gathered around her to see who she was but none of them got to see her face given she was surrounded by a number of bodyguards. Just a look of her side profile made the people around know she did not belong to their country.

After she got a proper look around the place that was currently under construction, Lily got into her car and waited till her lawyer got in. As soon as her lawyer got in, she turned to him and said, "Hope you know what to do now."

The man nodded to which Lily gave a satisfied look then dismissed him.

After she was done with the work, she asked her driver to drive her in the residential area in front of the plot. She had a lot of memories with the place. As the car drove in, she looked around the buildings and recollected all her memories.

Just as her car was about to drive further she saw someone and asked her driver to stop. She looked of the window and her breathe almost stopped when she saw a middle aged woman that looked older than her age but one could tell she must have been beautiful in her early age.

Suddenly a car honked pulling Lily out of the trance. She looked at the driver who had been calling out for her. "Young miss, should I stop a bit in front if in case you need something?", the driver asked politely.

"No. It's fine."

The driver nodded and drove away.

...

In the evening, she went to the beach to relax a bit but guess god made some different arrangements for her in India. She saw a certain people she didn't mean to see and laughed bitterly. She so wanted to go to them and give them a few face slaps but she knew this wasn't the right time to vent her anger out.

She ignored them and went to the restaurants near the beach. After having a fulfilling dinner, she took a walk on the beach for a while and to her fortune, she did not see those people again.

When she reached the hotel, she felt hungry again to her surprise. She ate a lot just two hours back but now she felt like she had nothing at all. So, not wanting to go to bed hungry, she ordered a full course meal in her room and finished it.

It was 1 am at night but she couldn't sleep for she missed a certain someone she didn't talk to for almost a week now. She sighed and turned on the TV.

As she kept scrolling through the channels, she felt so bored that she wanted to break the TV right there. She turned off the TV and started reading a few magazines and fell asleep eventually.

The next morning, she woke up and took shower then got ready wearing a yellow floral dress that stopped above her knees. Her hairs that were now growing till her mid back were tied in half up hairstyle and her face was bare of any makeup.

As she walked out of the elevator of the hotel, she saw a man coming towards her hurriedly. He bowed to her in respect and spoke in panic, "Young miss, you need to see this immediately."

With that he handed her an iPad that showed today's headlines. She read the headlines and her eyes widened.

"Get the jet ready right away and inform the team that I won't be able to join the research so they may continue."

Lily rushed out of the hospital and asked her driver to drive to the airport immediately.

Within a week of her leave, so many things happened that she wasn't even aware of it. She hated how everytime she thought things were going right but suddenly everything would shatter into pieces.

Lily held her forehead and closed her eyes.

As soon as she reached the airport, she boarded her flight hurriedly. Her heart was pacing so fast that it felt like it would pop out of her chest.

Lily gripped the left side of her chest and closed her eyes as she practiced breathing slowly to calm herself.

Only she knew how she passed those hours on the plane being all anxious and stressed out.

As soon as the flight landed in New York airport, Lily rushed out of the plane. She almost tripped while walking but somehow managed to balance herself and rushed out of the airport.

Lily rushed inside the hospital and took the elevator to go to the VIP floor. As soon as she reached the floor, she saw many people standing outside the room that was guarded by number of bodyguards.

Lily frowned upon seeing these people but did not bother to acknowledge them and walked towards the door. The guards immediately let her in without a single word.

The people standing outside scowled when they saw this but did not say anything.

As soon as Lily walked inside the room, she saw old lady Sheng laying on the bed with a number of tubes and needles attached to his body. She almost fell on the floor when she saw the lady who looked all healthy a couple days back.

"Grandmother", Lily called out gaining attention of old lady and old Master Sheng. She went towards the bed and held hand of the old woman who looked so weak and fragile.

"Xiao Li", came the weak almost inaudible voice of the lady as she smiled weakly. "Grandmother, how did all these happen?", Lily spoke in a shaky voice.

The old lady held Lily's hand and caressed the top. "Be good and don't leave this old man alone", she spoke and patted Lily's head to which Lily frowned. "What do you mean? I'll cure you, grandmother. We can try acupuncture or something."

Lily tried to stand but the lady held her hand and stopped her. "It won't be of any use. My life has come to end. My lungs are completely damaged."

Lily sat on the bed and stayed silent as the old lady Sheng spoke to her. Lily glanced at her grandfather who for the first time seemed to cry as his eyes were red. Lily sighed deeply and bit her lower lip.

She now knew how it felt when someone close to you died in front of them while they couldn't do anything. She now understood how sad Sam must have been after she died and why he seemed angry earlier when he came to know who she was.

"Call everyone in", the old lady said to one of the guard who bowed and left. A while later all the members of the Sheng family came in. Lily looked away from her grandmother and stared at the tree that was outside the window.

"Since you all know my condition is not good. I'd like to make an announcement now."

"I would like to announce today before my death that the person who will inherit the shares after my death will be..."
