Chapter 72: Chapter 72
Victor was still not happy with what he was about to do. He saw how his little surrogate was flirting with Leo earlier. She was enjoying his company. He didn't see any husband qualities in Leo as she said and she irritated him that he just wanted to leave her behind.
"I'm sure she's going to trouble me," Victor said as he walked towards the pool area. It was dark so why was she still outside? Although the weather was pleasantly nice he still didn't approve of her staying outside hence he hurried there as he fished out his phone from his pockets and looked at the time.
He was supposed to go out for a drive just alone but for great exposure, if his surrogate and for the benefit of the baby he was willing to tolerate her just for a night
"Ms. Payton?" he called out as soon as he got there but he didn't see anyone. The lights were on giving him a clear view of the entire area.
He walked down the pavement as he scanned the surroundings. He looked around but saw no sign of his surrogate. He guessed Leo was playing a prank on him and like a fool he fell for it
"Damn them both!" he muttered a low curse as he flipped his phone and shoved it back in his pockets and turned to leave. I'm mediately he was about to leave the pool area and walk back to the front. He suddenly turned when he accidentally saw something float above the water
His eyes narrowed as he fully turned and walked to the deep side of the pool to confirm if what he saw was the correct thing. He moved closer until he was by the edge of the pool. The lights didn't reach the far side of the pool but he saw something above water
"No..no..no," Victor said as fear washed over him. He didn't even wait as he stripped his shirt off. Kicked his shoes off and dived into the pool
The cold water engulfed him as he moved his body towards were his surrogate was floating. He had nothing in mind other than saving her life, his arms moved back and forth in unison with his legs
He was a good swimmer and the pool wasn't so big hence he reached her in one goal. She was floating face-up hence he quickly grabbed her by the waist and pulled her up so that her head was above the water. She was unconscious which scared him as he tried to keep her steady
With every movement, he made sure her entire weight was secured to him before he started swimming back to safer grounds
The water was trying to drag him to the bottom but he used his free arms to push himself up doing every he could to get to above and once he reached the near of the pool. He grabbed the edge of the pool taking a long breather as water dripped down his face. His eyes were open as he pulled her up in his arms and carefully pushed her body out of the water and laid her down and Immediately got out of the water
He was drenched but he didn't mind as he rushed to Vivienne.
"Hey...wake up now...come on" he muttered as he cupped her face trying to wake her up. Her eyes were closed and her white pale lips sealed. She wasn't moving even when he lifted her arm it fell back down scaring him as he shifted around hovering over her body
Fear and despair washed over him as he wiped his face, not sure what to do. He was Damned to rush her to the hospital knowing the time it would take. He knew what to do to make her regain consciousness but the courage to carry out that was something that made him hesitant.
He was scared for the first time his mind was blank despite having a solution at the tip of his hands. He needed to get rid of the water she and swallowed and for that, he had to do mouth-to-mouth resuscitation
Victor ran his hand in his hair as he looked around. He bent down over her face and knew he would be accused of sexual harassment and putting his mouth on hers without her full consent but he had no choice. Her life depended on him and without thinking, Victor proceeded to do what was needed. Water from his body dripped down his surrogate's drenched body as he positioned himself in place to do CPR
Gently he tilted her head back and used one hand to hold her chin and lifted her a little. Victor used his index finger and thumb to seal her nose to leave her mouth open. His other hand rested on her forehead and pinched their nose
He took a long deep breath as his head lowered to her open mouth and their lips connected as he blew in the air
He moved back and watched to see any reaction but there was nothing. By now his knees had turned weak. His body was drenched in sweat despite being wet and his heart was racing rapidly
"Please respond sweetheart" he muttered desperately as he repeated the same thing and moved back hoping to see a difference but she was lying there a sign lifeless
His head was in a mess as he felt a sharp pain in his heart. He didn't know what to do despite being a qualified doctor. He was irritated as he ripped her wet shirt which was stuck to her apart exposing her chest area. He didn't even mind what he was doing would later cause problems but he ripped her shirt full until it left her body
"Please come back" he murmured as he tried compression. This was his last hope. She must have swallowed a lot of water for her to pass out hence he did mouth to mouth then pressed hard on her chest
His face was dry as he waited to see any changes but nothing happened
"Come...on please wake up," he said again as he connected his lips with hers and blew air in her mouth hoping it would fill her lungs and make her regain consciousness, then moved to press hard on her chest
He repeated over and over again and just as he was about to lower his mouth to hers again…
*Cough, cough*
She coughed violently as water left her mouth. Victor was shocked as he lifted her halfway and placed her in his lap. She continued coughing out the water while he coaxed for her to keep calm
"She...it's okay" he muttered as he pushed her wet hair back. She seemed irritated and he knew she was feeling uncomfortable as she coughed as if gasping for air. He allowed some room for her to breathe in the fresh air which had been deprived of the time she had drowned and only when she stopped did he calm himself and to his surprise, she gripped him tighter
Her arms rested on his bare chest as if seeking comfort. She wasn't saying anything which scared him hence he sat down until she was in a sleeping position with her head resting in his lap. Her breathing was unstable as she shifted around. Clawing on his chest
"Ahh" she let out sounds of discomfort and Victor wrapped his arms around her shivering body. Her teeth were chattering violently from the cold and her body was trembling against his
"Hey...hey don't close your eyes okay... you'll be fine" he murmured when he saw how she was tossing and turning in his lap as if trying to find a good position. He caressed her wet face before he decided to pick her up.
He needed to check her properly hence he lifted her in his arms and secured her carefully
His surrogate didn't even have the strength to keep her eyes open or securely wrap her arms around his neck. She was way petite to carry hence he walked back to the house
As soon as he reached the front door he pushed it open with a lot of strength and it flew open violently that Monica who was passing by heading towards the stairs stopped and gasped upon seeing Victor with Vivienne in his arms rushing inside
"What happened here?" she asked but Victor ignored her he hurried straight to the stairs. Monica ran after her so did Leo who was on his way down and ready to go but collided with Victor who was in a hurry and looked disturbed
"What happened to her!"Leo said desperately as he rushed after Victor followed by Monica.
