Chapter 166: Chapter 166

"Hey ..hey...no look at me...yeah look at Uncle," Kyan said waving the baby toy in the air and the baby followed his gaze. "Good girl...look at this...her name is... Vivienne or just Vivie" he added and showed a photo of Vivienne. Of course, he didn't know if the baby could even see or recognize the picture he was showing her. She was just three months old

"Come on Sky focus," he said, sounding a little coy as he sat there. His niece was in a world of her own. But she looked really cute in her pink romper with pink socks and a cute headband with a ribbon attached to it. She was giggling and moving around with her tiny little hands grabbing things and fighting to get her tiny fingers in her mouth

"Okay...we are on our fourth session of knowing Vivienne...she's cute with eyes like yours...not sure why but you have beautiful eyes just like her, "Kyan said, making a thinking face as he looked at a pic of Vivienne then his niece. Of course, her name was Skylar, short for the Sky. Victor named her and whenever they called her she smiled

"Come on no drooling...you are a lady and cute girls don't drool, "Kyan said and wiped the baby's mouth with a clean baby towel. He smiled and prompted on one elbow beside the baby since they were in Victor's bedroom. His brother was in the study room working, he worked from home ever since the baby was born. For three months Victor had done nothing but take care of his daughter no matter what he was always there even at night when the baby cried and made him stay up all night

"It's good you are smiling at least I know you like me and Vivienne right," Kyan said arching his brows at the baby, she was now three months old and was more robust, she could move her little head just fine even if you laid her on her tummy she would lift her head. She recognized voices and reacted with a smile or giggles. Mostly she grew excited whenever Victor was around. She was always smiling and cooing and he had to say she had the cutest smile with dimples which made her look beautiful

Her blue eyes were penetrative, so sharp and gorgeous that each time he looked at her he was reminded of Vivienne's ocean blue eyes. Her smile and her carefree spirit which was why he decided to let Sky know Vivienne even if it was through a photo

"This is her… Papa liked her but she left however it doesn't mean she hates us no...but she loves us and you little one...I think"Kyan said still showing the baby, of course, he was just talking to himself but just then the bedroom door opened and it was Monica who walked in looking unhappy

"Kyan you know that girl is no longer part of our lives...stop bringing her up!"Monica lashed out but didn't shout for fear of scaring the baby. Kyan's narrowed his eyes and got out of bed and walked around to face Monica

"And if you treated her better then she would have stayed"kyan spat out bitterly. He too was not happy that Vivienne left and he blamed Monica and Victor for all of it. If they gave her reason enough to make her stay then she would have stayed but no

"Is that the way to talk to me?''Monica was not happy, especially with the way Kyan had been talking to her lately. He was always rude and arrogant and kept on blaming her for Vivienne's disappearance

"She left because you made her time here hell...she brought life to this house...at least we got to know that people can be genuinely happy but no...you had to treat the poor thing badly" if only Vivienne stayed more. Ever since she came into their lives all she did was spread love and cheer. She never harmed anyone nor did she ever get upset if she got scolded

"She left because she doesn't belong here and I don't think…"Monica said hating every bit kyan talked rudely to her but she stopped when they felt a presence, kyan didn't move when Victor walked inside and they knew any better than to stay

"Out," Victor said at once and the two bowed before they walked to the door once they were out. They closed the door and only then did Victor's deadly expression morph into a soft one as his attention shifted to the little one playing around on the bed. When she saw him, Victor saw that cute smile followed by baby noises she always made

"Hey hey...tired huh," he said softly and took off his coat before he climbed on the bed to pick her up. He had gone downstairs for a few minutes to see one of the directors who came to see him for some work. He thought he could find her sleeping but he was wrong. She was well awake and looking at him with wide eyes

"Okay... Papa is here" he said when he held her in his arms. The first thing she did was fist his shirt in her little grasp. He didn't know if she thought he would drop her but Victor chuckled and adjusted her into a comfortable position

"Missed me already" he muttered and planted a kiss on her cheek and she ended up scratching his face. He knew she wanted to touch him but more roughly. His little girl was now three months, he was a good father despite everything

"I'm always here for you" he murmured and rose from the bed. He cradled her in his arms more securely and walked to the window. He loved spending time with his princess, it gave him peace to hold her and tell her things even if she didn't understand him. Victor stared out the window not realizing that his princess was dozing

He missed a lot of things, despite having what he desired, he still felt empty. He didn't like how he felt but he knew he wanted to keep living. Sooner or later he was bound to be alone, this wasn't new. He expected this even if he was afraid of facing his reality

"Would she have loved you if she stayed?"Victor muttered looking down at the baby in his arms but he found his princess sleeping. Her little finger was in her mouth and her little eyes were closed shut, she was cute, very beautiful. Whenever she was sleeping it reminded him of someone. She too used to look innocent so harmless and peaceful. Pure at heart with no bad intentions. He had never met anyone who was like that, sometimes he thought she faked her personality but with time he came to know she was like that. Being with her brought peace, his troubles disappeared each time she was there to put a smile on his face

"You must be tired from playing with kyan," he remarked when placing her in the bed. It was normal for the baby to sleep from time to time and since she was sleeping. He decided to stay beside her while he worked hence he covered her with a baby blanket and climbed off the bed to get his work.

(Vivienne)

I didn't know why time was moving so fast, everything seemed to be in fast forward, not sure why but I couldn't believe I spent a year in the US. My focus was on finishing my studies. Being the best despite the many challenges I faced

Of course, I had certain things I thought about, deep things I wanted to bury in the back of my head. Unfortunately, I was unable to do that

"This is fine don't worry... we'll do great" Alexis said when she was choosing an outfit for me. I was told first years always had an end-of-year party. I wasn't fond of parties even when I was back in London but Alexis was a party girl. She was from a rich family, I couldn't compare to her but she was a great friend

"I don't think so...it's too revealing," I said, shaking my head. I looked at the red beautiful dress, not like it was bad but the sight of it made me remember Victor. Whenever there was a party he chose what I wore. I never complained no matter how revealing it was

"It's cute plus we want you to get a date...seniors will be there plus both of us will be heading into our second year...this is crucial," Alexis said, still selecting dresses and tossing them to me. Our room was full of shopping bags. We went out shopping as per her wishes. She was thrilled to hold but I wasn't

"I'm not interested, "I remarked, frowning at her. She had tried to get me hooked on someone but I was interested at all

"I know but you might get surprised okay...just try this one out it's not that bad" she insisted pouting at me. I looked at the many dresses she laid out and felt helpless, she was happy. I understood her quest to bring a smile to my face but nothing worked. I lost the essence of smiling. It was strange to me. Happiness was no longer there, I was empty. I didn't find anything worth laughing about

"I'll take a walk in the garden," I said with a faint smile and she shrugged and let me go.

I left our room and walked out the hallway. It was empty, of course, most students had gone out to prepare for the celebration. It was important for everyone and here I was acting up. I sighed and hugged myself as many thoughts crossed my mind. By this time I guessed, Victor was celebrating our daughter's one-year birthday. I could believe she was growing up so fast. How did she look? I bet she said her first word already, grew her first tooth and how Victor handled her. I was so miserable just thinking about that but one thing I knew. Victor wouldn't fail to raise his daughter well. He must have spoiled her greatly. I was certain she was a daddy's girl.
