Chapter 106: Chapter 106

"So sir this is our latest plan...with the upcoming project I'm sure our company will be on top, "the manager said as he showed the board of directors in the room and Victor, who was sitting in his boss chair, narrowed his eyes as he fixed them on the projector.

Since morning he had been busy with work, attending meetings, and hosting lunch meetings and now they were in the conference room viewing the latest projects made by various departments. He trusted his employees knowing they would deliver nothing but the very best and sitting there as he listened to the department head present what they had. He was more than satisfied as he leaned his entire weight to the armrest supporting his chin with his hands. Beverly was standing to his right side since she was his trusted secretary. Several times her phone had been ringing but she cut it off. She didn't know why she was receiving so many calls when the meeting they had was an important one

"And to conclude...this is the outcome of our work" another department finished up their presentation. This was the most crucial time of their year. Whenever the year was coming to an end, Victor wanted to have something new for his company to give to the people. That was what made him the greatest man and CEO of all time.

When the meeting was over. Victor left the conference room and proceeded straight to his office. He had to take a breather and glanced at his wristwatch. He knew he had a long day. For some reason, the idea of going home sounded nice

He was never so excited about going home but for some reason, he felt happy finishing his work

"Sir...the work is done for the day...one of our contractors wanted a meeting with you but I postponed it till tomorrow, "Beverly said as she checked her iPad and looked up at Victor with a smile. Victor was already arranging some files on the table to pay any attention to his secretary but ye was glad she didn't trap him in any more meetings he wasn't ready for

"What else?" he asked as he shoved some of his things in his briefcase and slammed his laptop shut. He turned to his computer and checked some of his work

"Nothing sir... tomorrow have arranged for the baby shop you wanted to see, "Beverly remarked knowing his boss was hesitating to buy any baby clothes. Already Monica had asked him to do the work but for his child. He wanted to do everything, to buy the baby's clothes was important but he still was ignorant of the baby's gender. He was happy with having a boy or girl. If he had a girl then she'd look like her mother, her beautiful eyes and smile and if it was a bit then they'd have a tiny problem knowing he was likely to take after him and the thought of it made him happy that without knowing a small was tugging at the corners of his face. Beverly was surprised as she rubbed her eyes to make sure she was seeing the correct thing. Her boss was smiling, it wasn't a full smile but he showed an expression. This was too good to be true that she smiled seeing her boss happy.it seemed him having a child was a good thing. Soon he'd be a father and he would have something to remember his wife by and everyone knew those days would be the happiest for everyone

"Sir should I…"

"Yes go ahead...I'll have a look" he cut her off and said as he searched his dark blue coat. He swore he left his phone there but when he searched all his pockets and trousers pockets. He didn't find it. Even the table was clear. He wanted his phone to call his Surrogate and ask how she was doing

It was already late at night, he didn't recall dropping it anywhere so where was his phone "Beverley did…" he started to look at his secretary hoping she saw his phone and Beverly realized what his boss wanted. She facepalmed herself and dug in her purse and retrieved Victor's phone

"Here sir...I had it the entire time...it had been ringing since but I didn't want to disturb you"Beverly said and walked to Victor and handed him the phone. Victor didn't say anything but took his phone knowing he hated anyone touching his phone but his secretary had access since at times he hated the idea of answering certain calls from his partners

"You said it was ringing?"Victor asked as he scrolled through his phone and found so many missed calls. He was stunned to see some from Monica as well as Kyan. When he scrolled more he found eleven missed calls from Maverick and he knew Maverick's calls were not to be ignored

"Yes sir...you gave it to me when we started the meeting"Beverly replied with a smile knowing she didn't dare bother him but disconnected all the calls he received and as if she knew what was coming she saw Victor's expression darkened. The more he scrolled the more his brows knitted together causing her to feel scared

"This can't be"Victor muttered loud enough for Beverly to hear and grew scared. Victor didn't even stay there as he took his coat and stormed away. Beverly was so scared that she rushed out to fall, not sure what happened for him to get so agitated. She just wished nothing but happened.

"How is this possible...I didn't think this can happen?"Justin said as he ran his hands in his hair. Both of them were in Maverick's office looking at Vivienne's pregnancy reports. Maverick was sitting in his swivel chair moving it as it made a small sound. He didn't know how things went wrong but what they had was something Victor was not supposed to see

"She shouldn't know this neither should Victor"Maverick remarked and rose from his chair Justin slammed his fist on the table trying by all means not to break down. He didn't expect this could happen

"This is dangerous...what's your problem...do you know the complications you created...damn it this is madness"Justin couldn't sleep but made a low yell as he turned to look at Maverick standing by the window. Everything was now in chaps all because the doctors in charge of vivienne were incompetent and now the chances of them getting killed by Victor were there

"Don't say anything...this is a secret between us... neither party should know especially... Vivienne"Maverick said running his hands helplessly in his hair. He was a doctor, and the chances of making mistakes were there but in such a car he never made a mistake unless he had to and in his case. Something terrible went wrong and he ended up doing something insane and the outcome was not so pleasing

"For how long huh...this is serious how long do you think this will go on"Justin was beyond frustrated hearing his co-worker that the situation they were in was like some home or film script. This was real life and how were they going to hide such a secret

"For life...you are going to hid  this right here and now...what we've discussed here remains here and I will not…"Maverick started saying in an angry irritated voice knowing he was already frustrated and burdened with guilt and Justin being a damned doctor was adding to his worries. He thought he cod share his secret with him as a doctor but he made a big mistake because Justin overreacted

"How is she...please she was bleeding badly…"Justin asked as he sat down and Maverick walked to his chair and sat down drawing it forward to his desk

"I gave her some pain relievers and a sedative to keep her down for a while...the baby is fine, just normal bleeding due to stress ''he said as he took the files he had shown Justin and opened a small brown box. Justin shifted his eyes to the box and knew the lie was going to be kept in the box. For how long? He didn't know but for the sake of peace and happiness he was willing to hide the truth from his dear cousin

"That's good….I'm sure Victor is already here l...he will examine her if he isn't sure" Justin said as he watched Maverick lock the box after shoving the papers in and keeping it away

"Let's go, "Maverick said, getting up and the two doctors made their way to the room Vivienne was admitted in.

"How is she?"Victor asked as he walked closer to the bed, his Surrogate was lying there. How on Earth did something so serious happen without him knowing about it

"Sir...she's fine now...the doctor gave her a sedative, "the nurse said as she gathered some things from the table. Victor nodded for her to leave and she left the room.

"S...sir I didn't know it was important...I'm so sorry so"Beverly who walked into Vivienne's hospital room begged her boss. He didn't know the calls were important when she disconnected them and now Vivienne was in the hospital all because she was bleeding badly. She saw how agitated and anxious her boss was and now she wanted to apologize to him

"You are fired and out!"Victor made a low yell which startled Beverly as more tears rained down her face. She tried begging but one word from Victor had her running out of the room still crying and nearly bumped into Monica who just come back from the cafeteria to get herself some coffee

"I see you are the idiot who had his phone...you are despicable Beverly," Monica said and grabbed Beverly's hand and pulled her hard

"P...please let me go?" she begged and tried to leave unfortunately Monica was gripping her hand so tight and her eyes shot nothing but fire

"He should fire a loser like you...do you know how urgently Victor was needed here!"Monica shouted and shoved Beverly aside who stumbled and nearly fell but balanced on her feet and ran away from there.

"Stupid" Monica muttered disdainfully and sat down as she waited for Victor who was already inside the room
