"Umm, I...I don't get it?"Alexis stammered with uncertainty, Maverick was apologizing to her. She never expected him to say sorry so easily. As much as things were awkward between them. She too wanted to apologize for being so rude. He was older than her and deserved some respect on her part but how on Earth was she to ignore the feeling she got from him. His gaze made her feel something strongly. Something she only felt for one man which was why she decided to keep her distance from the doctor

"It wasn't right and very unprofessional of me to act the way I did... Ms. Crawley, find it in your heart to forgive me"Maverick, CK said softly after some time and Alexis was even more guilty...hearing his soft low yet the deep masculine voice was something she preferred not to think about. Maverick knew apologizing to her was a good start. He didn't know where to begin to explain himself when the woman before her was the same girl he thought he didn't want in the past. He had his reasons for not giving in to her advances. She was eleven years old for goodness sake. If her grandparents found out the man they trusted was busy taking advantage of a minor they would have been heartbroken. As much as he was trying to protect his reputation he didn't like the idea of breaking her heart as he did. For years he tried to forget her or at least involve himself with other women unfortunately he didn't find any of them as appealing as the little girl he once kissed

"Give...give me a good reason why you kissed me as you did?"not a good way to do things but everyone knew she was a blunt girl. She didn't like hiding what bothered her and she preferred to let her feelings known. Maverick was caught off guard by her question. His gaze was on his desk knowing he was trying to avoid that same question from her

"An impulse...I was led by an impulse" he simply said without hesitation looking straight at Alexis who was dumbstruck. Was he serious, all that was due to an impulse? Did he take her for a fool or a naive girl who knew nothing about men and women?

"Doc, I'm sure we are both grown-up people, don't you think your actions were a little... unusual," Alexis said as she slowly walked towards the desk where Maverick was standing. He didn't say anything to her remarks nor look at her knowing eyes could tell and give him away. The way she was walking was already weird. Having her so close yet so far was great torture. Kissing her was a great satisfaction to his longing for love. Quenching his thirst after years of yearning for her. To hold her in his arms and spoil her with his kisses. To spend his nights and days with her and never let her go. All this resided in his heart and a great desire burned within him

"Well...it...happens...it's not like…" he stuttered, swallowing hard when the woman walked up to him. She was just an inch from him. Her presence he felt numbness in his senses as he tried to keep it together. Nothing affected him more than having her so close. The urge to kiss her soft rosy pink lips was getting even stronger. His heart was betraying him as it thumped against his chest

"Don't you think you are being a little suspicious...first you moved into the apartment next to me...you kissed me without my consent and you...have been extra nice to me…"Alexis murmured as he stood very close to the man. She noticed how nervous he was. It was funny seeing him sweating like that when the AC was on. "Doc, have you fallen for me?" she whispered the last words and placed her hand on his beating heart. Maverick was startled when her little warm hand connected with his chest. Despite the layer of clothes in the way, he still felt her touch. It was so warm and serene that it extinguished the fire burning in his body. He had never felt this much attraction for a woman

"T...that's not it... Ms I'm sure you are just delusional" he said nervously and removed her hand from his chest and awkwardly walked away from her. Alexis remained standing there with a frown plastered on her face. The doctor was acting weird and looking at him Alexis arched her brows and took her purse from the desk

"Good night doc," she said and left his office just like that. The door slammed shut startling Maverick who regained his wits only then did he realize something. He was giving himself away

"Damn her" he muttered a curse running his hands in his hair. He needed to get hold of his feelings and keep his emotions in check before he blew his cover

"I'm not sure I'll control myself," he said and dropped on his chair exhaling heavily.

I found Leo's behavior a little strange. He was never this clingy before. And Victor was doing nothing about it. The man dragged me away like a fugitive to Victor's place. I thought Victor would at least vent his anger on Leo for taking me in his car unfortunately the man was cool about it. We left the office and came to Ellison's mansion and Victor left me with Leo who didn't even waste time but invaded Julia's kitchen. Even Julia was surprised when the man said he make dinner for me not others

"Eat up...I'm sure you are hungry…. sweetheart if you need more I'll make as much as you want"Leo coaxed as he fed me more food he prepared. I was already stuffed and couldn't breathe anymore. I wished Victor would come and get me out of this misery but the man was busy working out in the gym.

"L... Leo, I'm already full I can't eat anymore "it was too much I couldn't breathe. I've never eaten this much before I swore I'd turn into a baby elephant if this continued

"Sweetheart...this is serious...you work all day and have no time to take care of yourself, "Leo said with a frown as he sat beside me. I looked at him and he was grinning like a child.

"Yeah yeah but don't you think...you are being a little…"

"Clingy?"He finished the sentence for me with a small frown. I didn't mean to say that word but he left me with no choice

"No...but let's make a deal... you'll spoil me every day but not like this" he was ridiculous to make me eat like this. But I had to say he was so cute. I liked this side of him. Like a big brother

"Alright fine...so are you happy?" he agreed, smiling from ear to ear like a child. He was so cute and handsome

"So let's talk about something else... Cassy is back in town" I said, shoving the plate aside and wiping my hands with a napkin and he handed me a glass of water. Leo's expression changed at the mention of Cassy but something didn't seem right

"I see...and how is she?" he asked, lowering his gaze to his hands. I observed how he was avoiding my gaze.

"She's fine... Leo what happened between you two...why did she leave like that"it was strange hearing Cassy say she left just like that. Leo also told me Cassy only left without a word. She had a child now. A two years old child for that matter. I wasn't a kid not to put two and two together

"No idea...she resigned and left without telling me...Vivie, we shouldn't talk about this"Leo said looking up at me and I saw how his jovial expression disappeared.

"Well she's back...you should see her and talk to her, "I said straight and he was hesitant, I've never seen Leo this cornered before. As much as I knew he loved Monica I still felt he deserved someone better. Leo didn't say anything after that, it was suspicious that Cassy left just like that. I was a woman too, Cassy was always happy working for Leo but how did she just leave without telling him. Unless she ran away from something.
