Victor stood face to face with the man who was willing to do anything to have what wasn't his. Anyone in his position would get upset knowing another had his eyes on his woman
"A woman of her caliber doesn't deserve to be with someone like you Victor," Mauricio said as he looked straight at Victor with no fear whatsoever. If other men feared Victor because he owned billions and was considered the wealthiest. Yes, he was a smart man.
"I'm only tolerating you because...your family just recovered from a financial depression...do you want to mess with me?" Victor said as he crossed his arms over his chest and fixed his cold sharp eyes on Mauricio. Mauricio was on the verge of losing it, he didn't know Victor had taken Vivienne out for lunch. He had tried calling her but she wasn't answering his call and now he happened to have come to the restaurant for his meeting, he saw Vivienne smiling with Victor
"There's nothing you can do...your little reputation has no power over me...very soon I'll have everything you own Victor, "Mauricio remarked, smirking at Victor. Of course, Victor was known to be a shrewd businessman. From childhood, they hated each other. But any would give credit to Victor for being such a great CEO.
He elevated his father's company to greater heights. He wasn't just a businessman but a great doctor. For a man, Victor had it all. Everything a woman wanted in a man. But Mauricio thought otherwise. Without all the wealth and good reputation Victor but be nothing but a bad man and having a woman Vivie in his possession was something he couldn't stand
"By now you should know I dislike talking, especially men who run their mouths anyhow...mind how you approach me when I'm with my woman," Victor said, scanning Mauricio as if he were nothing in his eyes. Despite how tall and intimidating he appeared before Victor who still held the upper hand in looks. Victor's aura was something that outshone any man no matter how hard they tried to be like him and Mauricio was unhappy knowing Vivienne loved a wrong man
"She doesn't deserve to shoulder your burdens, Victor...I'm sure she's tired of... dealing with a...widower with issues"Mauricio said disdainfully knowing he still had an upper hand over Victor and talking about his late wife would bring out the worst in him. Seeing how Victor's expression had darkened. Mauricio smirked even more as he shoved his hands in his pockets and walked in front of Victor "Mr. Ellison.. have you forgotten you were once married and your wife died because of your carelessness...and now...you want another victim"Mauricio added shrewdly and by now Victor was seeing red from anger. From his clenched hands to his face contorted with rage. Mauricio saw how murderous Victor looked with a flushed face but he didn't care
"I'm warning you...you better keep your opinion to yourself because with just a snap of my fingers... everything you have will vanish"Victor managed to control his anger. He didn't want to cause a scene. It was good he decided to leave the table where Vivienne and he were having a quiet meal until Mauricio showed up acting smart. At this point, he didn't want to get angry in front of Vivienne and scare her
"You know I'm right...stop burdening her with your miserable life and let her find a man who will love her without issues!"This time Mauricio was the one who lost it as he shouted at the top of his voice. It was good both men were somewhere private without people around. Victor's lips quivered upwards into a mocking smirk. He was fascinated at how stupid a man like Mauricio could be. "I have no time for you...don't provoke me, "Victor's said and without wasting time turned to walk away when Mauricio said something which made him stop in his tracks but didn't dare turn around
"Just you wait, Victor...in a few days you will destroy your relationship and I...will be there to hold her in my arms, "Mauricio said smirking but all Victor could do was clench his hands tightly restraining himself from beating someone to a pulp. Victor stormed away from there and left Mauricio standing there, his unwavering eyes shone with hatred and all if it was directed at Victor. He knew what he had to do.

I sat there agitated as the urge to go and check up on the two men who left to talk privately got even more. I didn't know what Mauricio was thinking of approaching Victor as he did. I already made it clear to him that I wanted nothing to do with him. Mauricio dropped an invitation card on the table for Victor saying he was hosting a party and all businessmen across the city were invited. It was enough that he was Victor's rival but claiming was a big mistake
"Where is he…"I prayed Victor wasn't doing anything bad because his anger was something to fear and if Mauricio dared to provoke the man then he was likely to lose a tooth or an eye. I was done sitting hence I decided to go after them but just as I was about to leave table e. I spotted victor coming back alone and looking at him he didn't look like he got into a fight. He was put together which made me calm down a little and waited for him to reach
"Please tell me you didn't murder him," I said hoping to hear he controlled his anger. Victor arched his brows and sat down unbuttoning his coat and sucked up a glass of wine and gulped the entire liquid in one go and slammed the glass back on the table and smiled at me
"Relax, I don't get my hands dirty...we just had a man-to-man talk," he said, smiling more than usual. Victor was scar whenever he smiled. It rarely happened
"So you didn't kill him...not even a broken arm?."I asked arching brows at him and he seemed confused with my question as he sat there staring at me with a blank expression "so on top of not murdering him...you also accepted his party invitation" I added showing him the gold made a card and slammed it back on the table. As much as I want to be done dealing with Mauricio. I missed a little violence from Victor's side
"So you wanted me to...kill him?" he asked and resumed eating but of course not killing him a broken arm or leg or even front teeth would be nice but it seemed Victor had such self control for some reason
"So...I was wondering"he started after some time and I looked up at him and nodded for him to say what he was wondering about
"If someone happened to find your…umm family...what reward will they get?" the man said and I was stunned by his words. He never asked me about my family. I blamed myself since I didn't say much about that topic
"Well, no idea...I...I'm not sure" it was hard to think about my family. For twenty-two years I lived without them. I learned to live for myself because if indeed the woman who gave birth to me loved me and regretted what she did then she would have gone to any extent to find me but now I lost hope
"Not sure...I know it's..."
"It's okay...you don't have to tell me anything or get worked up...I don't need them"I cut him off because he could say anything upsetting. I didn't mean to be rude to him but it was best he didn't bring up anything about those people. I used to dream of finding my parents but the years had gone by. I wasn't interested
Victor didn't say any more as he sat there watching Vivie eat her food. As much as he hated seeing her hurt or upset. He thought she would love to know about her parents unfortunately she didn't want that and he preferred not to push anything.

"You two are a thing now?"Leo asked Maverick and Alexis in amusement. His eyes shone with delight because he just caught Maverick and Alexis making out in the elevator. He knew something was up but he did not have an idea that these two were all hot about each other
"Leo that's...not what you are thinking"Alexis tried to change the topic by drinking her water awkwardly, not sure why Leo was making things worse than they already were. Maverick sat there embarrassed as he tried to kick leo in the leg to keep his mouth shut unfortunately he didn't even pay attention
"Maverick, tell her you like her...I mean you two...aww"Leo couldn't stop smiling which was why he dragged them both to have lunch somewhere private. It was his treat to the newest couple in town other than Victor and Vivienne
"E... excuse me...I'll be back" Alexis excused herself from the table and walked away. She was agitated and still recovering from the hot make-out session she just had with Maverick. Everything was new to her. The way he kissed her with need. As if he wanted her, all of her. Her heart couldn't take it. The feeling was familiar yet strange. The way he kissed didn't seem new to her
"Why...no...it's not. I'm just hallucinating" she tried to calm her nerves as she leaned against the sink in the restroom. Of course, she knew that part of her life was in the past. Rejection was great and hurt her badly but... falling in love was easy but letting go wasn't.
"I'm sure I'm just crazy...it can't be him"Alexis splashed water in her face to cool off. Maverick's kisses, the way he touched her like she was delicate and could break if he didn't hold her in his arms. But why did it feel like eleven years ago? She fell in love with someone who said he was older than her and didn't have the right to lead her on. Alexis knew how much she loved him but he rejected her love.
