Chapter 60: Chapter 60

"Oh please...after you left me to die huh?"Alexis said over the phone as she got ready for work. For three straight days, her friend didn't even call or anything. It must be nice at Victor's place for Vivie to stay there however that wasn't the case when she was busy operating in secret

"Did you think using that rude doctor would work...listen here bestie...I would never go out with that man" Alexis added and used her shoulder to he the phone while she used both hands to go through her clothes. If all men Vivie could trap her with it had to be the rude doctor. She would have loved it if she sent someone like doctor Justin. He was so nice and cheerful that Alexis loved being around him more than Maverick

"Bla bla...is your honeymoon over because today is the final day for the project...come to the office so we go through with the MD"Alexis added when she heard all that Vivie had to say. Judging by her voice Vivie seemed to be sleeping or what because Alexis could hear some moans from her friend meaning she was still getting laid

"You are impossible," Alexis said, rolling her eyes in annoyance and disconnected the call, and tossed the phone on the carpet. Her friend was having a great time with her man while all she did these past three days was go for regular check-ups at the hospital as per Maverick's request. The doctor was beginning to be a big pain in the neck, however, her last visit was good because she had a good long chat with doctor Justin. It turned out he was also an Ellison. So handsome and easy-going. He was full of life and not grumpy or rude at her. Which was why she invited him for lunch unfortunately she didn't know Maverick and a certain female doctor were having lunch in the same restaurant because he wasn't happy

"Ricky thinks he can tell me what to do...how dare he"Alexis muttered angrily as she wore her skirt. It was too much that Maverick asked her to stay away from doctor Justin.

"Coming" she shouted when she heard a doorbell while rushing to the kitchen to grab a sandwich. She was so late for work and envied Vivie who was busy with the boss. At least her friend was having a good time which she needed since in the past she saw how Vivienne was. She never took a break from her studies but now seeing her friend enjoy her life she was more than happy

"What are you doing here?"Alexis asked coldly as soon as she opened the doctor's and found Maverick standing there. Wasn't he supposed to be at the hospital chit-chatting with that female doctor

"Wait...where is doctor Martha...I thought she might miss you" she remarked disdainfully reminding him about the hot blonde doctor he took for lunch. It was clear the lady liked him just by the way she was laughing and giggling while they ate lunch and the worst of it all was when they found themselves having lunch in the same place. Justin suggested they sat at the same table

"I came to ask if you need a ride, "Maverick remarked politely while showing her the car keys and Alexis's eyes narrowed coldly. Since when did he become a driver or nice enough to give her a ride

"Did I ask for it...don't tell me you came all the way here to give me a ride" she said sarcastically trying, by all means, to irritate him unfortunately he didn't seem to be affected by her words

"Little girl I'm your dear neighbor...I'm heading to Vic's office before I go to the hospital I was…"

"Wait... neighbor?" she asked, cutting him off as she adjusted her standing position a little to the left. The doctor was wearing black jeans with a long-sleeved button shirt, and nice shoes which made him look different and more casual

"Sir...it's already fixed if it breaks again just call me" before Alexis could make Maverick talk the opposite door to her apartment which she thought had no one staying in it opened and a man who looked like a plumber walked out and addressed Maverick who smiled and dug in his pockets. Alexis was dumbstruck, not sure what to say. When did the rude doctor move in next to her

"Here keep the change...I'll call you if the sink needs fixing, "Maverick said with a smile while handing the man money. The man smiled as he took the cash and bowed before Maverick and walked towards the elevator. Alexis shifted her gaze to Maverick who was busy putting his wallet in his pockets

"When did you…"

"Aren't you supposed to welcome your new neighbor?" he asked before she could say anything and pushed his way into Alexis's apartment without being told to do so

"Interesting place neighbor...can I have some coffee?" she heard Maverick say from inside but she couldn't move because she was stuck in place. Her heart racing and anger boiling inside of her. This was an invasion of privacy. He was bullying her on purpose but she wasn't going to give him the satisfaction.

(Vivienne)

It took time and coaxing to finally get rid of Victor. I didn't understand why he was so clingy and possessive. When I woke up in the morning, I found him awake and busy staring at me. It was embarrassing to wake up and find a man staring at you with intense eyes

I couldn't say anything bad knowing he was the best man that ever existed. He made my life worth living, with him around I didn't feel scared or anything. I just hoped he didn't hate me once I told him about Skylar. I had plans to arrange a romantic dinner date just for us, in a couple of days. During dinner, I'll then tell him about Skylar being our daughter. If he accepted me now and proposed to me. Then he surely wanted me to be Skylar's mom hence I was certain he wouldn't be so angry

"Are you little Skylar's aunt?"I was asked by the woman before me. She was the principal of the school. I came to drop Skylar off at school before I went to the office. Unfortunately, I was called back to the principal's office. She was a good looking old lady although not that old with the gray hair mixed with black I guess she was on with her age

"Y...yes"I answered hesitantly and the woman who was wearing specs looked at me pushing her specs down a little and I sat there waiting for her to tell me

"Alright...so I expected Mr. Ellison to come here...but kindly tell him there's going to be a school function for the children"the lady spoke as she opened some documents on the desk. I saw how spacious her office was. A little vintage but more royal-like. Was she french judging by her accent

"Okay," I said nodding at her words

"We expect every parent to attend the function and cheer for their children...please give this to…" she started saying and handed me a brown envelope but before I could take it my phone vibrated. I didn't want to see it but I decided to see who it was. Upon unlocking it, my eyes narrowed seeing a new message from an unknown number.

("Enjoy your happy moments as much as you can...I'm sure by the time he learns his little love is hiding a secret... he'll hate you my dear")I read the message, my hands turned cold as sweat dripped down my forehead...I was so disturbed that I tried calling the number to know who it was but it was a private number. I couldn't call back

"Is... everything okay Ms. Payton?"I heard the principal ask unfortunately I was far too disturbed to say anything

("Disturbed right...as we speak right now my dear...I sent a certain envelope to his office and it contains DNA results containing info about Skylar being your daughter and his...save yourself Vivie...tick-tock") another message popped out and by now I couldn't breathe properly. I scrolled through the message again hoping to find anything or the name of the sender. But there weren't any, who knew about my secret and why they were sent to Victor's office. I didn't want him to find out in such a way not now that everything was good between us. Victor was already at the office and if he saw those DNA results then I was doomed

"Ms this…"I didn't even get to hear what the lady was saying as I stormed out of the office. I had to get to Victor before he saw the envelope. I needed to tell him this myself, not from someone else. Immediately after Vivienne left the office the principal scanned the envelope in her hand and tossed it back on the desk. Parents needed to read the newsletter so they knew what their children were to perform at the function. No child was to be left out and parents attending the function, was good support to their children. But now.
