"Bro...who the hell is she?" A question came from behind him and Maverick took his time answering his little sister's question as he made sure the lady lying in his bed was okay. He didn't know why she passed out back then and since he was already on his way home as per his mom's request he brought her to his home without realizing what he was doing. Seeing her collapse like that made him lose his mind, he was too worked up to even think about taking her to the hospital

"Will she be fine...how come you brought her here...is she your girlfriend?" his little sister fired him with all kinds of questions that he felt more irritated than he already was. Since he came in she didn't stop asking him who the lady was even his mother who was calling him the entire afternoon that she was sick didn't seem so sick because she was in the kitchen preparing food

"Aria...why don't you run along to your room and do your homework"Maverick finally said, glancing over his shoulder to make her leave. He was already in a bad mood and she was adding to that.

"Come on bro...we know she's your girl but what's wrong with her...is she sick...did she fall?" the bo

Town-haired sixteen years old girl kept asking with furrowed brows. She walked around the bed until she was standing close to Alexis's side and leaned down to her face. Maverick exhaled out of frustration not sure what to do about her behavior

"She's not my girlfriend and please leave from here," he said, shoving her hands away which were about to poke Alexis in the face as if she wanted to feel her face.

"She's pretty and so young...how old is she?" again Arian asked, arching his brows at her. She was too much that Maverick felt helpless

"Go and find out what mom is doing, "Maverick remarked, getting up from the bed. Unfortunately, someone grabbed his hand before he could go anywhere. His heart skipped a few beats when he turned to look at the lady she thought was sleeping

"W...water"Alexis muttered, getting Maverick's attention as he sat back down and she had her eyes closed. Her skin was a little pale so were her pink lips which had turned pale white and dry

"S...she's awake" Ariana gasped cheerfully. Her little high pitched voice caused Alexis to stir uncomfortably but Maverick already placed his hand on her arm as if to calm her down

"Go and get water" he ordered his little sister who didn't stop giggling. Ariana regained her wits and ran out of the room and Maverick tried to make Alexis sit up

"Ms...it's okay... she'll bring water for you"Maverick whispered just as Alexis's blurry eyes flew open. Like she suddenly realized her situation she was fully awake as her eyes met with a man she didn't like and scanned the room with vivid eyes and sniffed that strange perfume not sure if it was from the linens she was wrapped in or from

"You?" she said, struggling to sit up. Despite the slight pain coming from her lower abdomen. Alexis was agitated as she tried to save herself from the monster "w...what did you do to me!" she yelled so much that Maverick was rendered speechless. He didn't do anything but brought her to his place and treated her

"Ms... please calm down"Maverick tried to say but Alexis was already standing on the bed with the white and gold sheets wrapped around her body. Her eyes shot fire and rage that Maverick was helpless as he tried to calm her down

"Y...you idiot...what did you do!?" she continued yelling and jumped off the bed and picked up his stethoscope from the nightstand and pointed them at him as if it were a deadly weapon

"Calm down for Christ's sake" he muttered gesturing for her to keep it down unfortunately Alexis didn't see through that she shouted for help

"Help...help me! This criminal of a doctor is trying... trying to harm me!"Alexis shouted as loud as she could, still pointing the doctor's stethoscope at Maverick. She wanted to know what he did to her and where he brought her to. He was crazy to kidnap her however when the door opened. Alexis' eyes fell on a lady elegantly dressed in a flowery blue dress with her long black hair in a single braid and draped to the left side of her front shoulder. Looking at her carefully she looked to be the same age as her mother but more beautiful, especially with those dimples showing since she was smiling at her

"What happened here? Dear did this bully scare you?" the woman said as she walked up to her holding a glass of water and when her hand connected with her arm. Alexis flinched because her hand was cold and smooth as she dragged Alexis to the bed and carefully shoved her down the bed and sat beside her

"Drink up sweetie you must be thirty," the woman said, smiling at me as she coaxed me to drink water. Alexis was hesitant, not sure who she was and when she glanced over at Maverick he seemed irritated not sure why

"Come on sweetie drink the water...it's chilled" she added and moved the glass cup close until it connected with her lips. Alexis was nervous as she parted her lips to welcome the crystal-like cold water moisturizing her tongue. She took a large gulp than she intended to, swallowing the cool water down soothing her dry throat, and only then did she realize how thirsty she was that she took the entire glass from the woman and gulped down the entire liquid until she had finished all of it

"That's my girl... Ricky didn't just stand there...get her something to eat...I asked Ariana to find a pair of clean clothes for her"the woman said, patting me on the head then turned to Maverick and said. The man seemed startled as he nodded repeatedly. What was happening who was the lady and why did she seem to have more authority over Maverick the big bully

"Mom there's no need...she's awake I'll take her home," Maverick said, shaking his head, and only then did Alexis realize something. The pretty woman with a nice pleasant voice sweet like the fruits in the garden and nicer than anyone she had ever come across was Maverick's mom

"Of course not...she's still weak just look at the poor thing" the lady turned to me and held my chin with her lovely hand and said with a grin. She was so happy and cheerful, especially when she was treating me like a child.

"I'm...I'm fine...he's right. I have to go home" I muttered but my voice came out hoarse and restrained

"I already made dinner...you seem sick dear...come I'll have Ariana prepare a hot bath for you while I make dessert" saying that she kissed me on the forehead and creased my hair before she rose from the bed. I saw as she looked at Maverick as if exchanging a few words with eyes then she left the room.

"Why did you bring me here?"I asked but the man just glared at me and walked out. I sat there feeling helpless. The woman was nice, how come she had a rude son like Sebastian.

"Great room by the way"I snorted disdainfully, crossing my arms over my chest and leaning back to the bunch of pillows. What was this now?

"Hey, Alex...where are you...call me once you get my message, "I said for a hundredth time, not sure why Alexis wasn't picking up my calls. I came back a while ago. Went to her apartment to bring her some pizza I ordered for both of us unfortunately her apartment was locked.

"Where could she be…"I said walking back to the kitchen since I was preparing dinner. After that conversation, I had a conversation with Mauricio. I left the Cafe right away not sure why he thought I wanted anything to do with him or his company. He said so many things I didn't understand nor was I interested in. He knew I was doing my internship at Victor's company so why would he offer me to leave Victor and work for him.

"That fool"I muttered a curse and tied my hair in a loose bun and got to work. I already showered hence I felt refreshed and ready to make dinner then I would go straight to bed.

After a while, I heard a doorbell. I smiled, wiped my hands with a kitchen towel, and left the kitchen. I guess Alexis finally came back hence I hurried to get the door

"Alex what took you…"I said as soon as I opened the door expecting to see Alexis standing there but when my eyes fell on the tall man standing before me. Unlike earlier he wasn't wearing a suit but normal black jeans with a bottleneck shirt and a black long coat on top.

"Please leave"I simply said, preparing to close the door when Victor stopped me. I didn't know what he was doing here after what he did or was he feeling guilty now for insulting me like I were nothing

"You weren't answering my calls so I came to see you" he murmured in a low voice that sounded calm and soft. Nothing moved me because the sight of him made my blood boil

"Why huh...so you could insult me more...who do you think I am, Victor?"I shot him a glare not understanding his sudden visit. Was he so bored that he decided to visit his little toy and play with her like he always did

"I didn't mean…

"It's best you leave because I don't want to see your face…"I cut him off and said, if he didn't read my eyes then he better do so. I wasn't so naive as to let him take advantage of me as if I were nothing.

"Let's talk," he said, trying to push through and get in but I blocked his way, shooting an angry dagger at him with my eyes that seemed shocked. I didn't answer his calls earlier and he was old enough to realize I still had pride as a woman.

"If you don't know what you want... Just leave me alone...I detest men like you so please leave before I say something we both would regret"I said word by word making sure he understood where I stood. If he didn't know who I was to him or what role I played in his life then it was for his own good and mine that he kept his distance

"Vivienne listen I was wrong...I don't know" He started saying in a low soft voice and judging by his hesitation I knew he came here to give me excuses "I didn't mean to…"

"Get the hell out!"I yelled, cutting him off, I didn't stop there but pushed him away until he was not standing in the way. He was shocked as his expression dropped. I wasn't happy and before he could say anything I slammed the door right in his face and locked it. Who gave him the right to take advantage of my love and care for him.
