Chapter 105: Chapter 105
Alessia parked her car and got all of the fruits she brought for Dad and flowers, then decided to get out of the car. When Alessia entered a two-doorway, she was soaked in the smell mixed with alcohol and medicine. There were busy people everywhere, but some of them were healing, mourning, and having problems with bills and everything.
Alessia headed to the elevator, and as the doors were closing, a hand popped out and blocked it, making it open again, but it was someone that Alessia didn't expect to see, and it was Blade.
Blade entered the elevator, and Alessia just stepped sideways so they wouldn't touch. They were both silent as Alessia was looking at the elevator number and Blade was looking at her. Blade's heart throbbed the moment he saw her, and he didn't really plan to stop the elevator. He just wanted to grab the opportunity to see her that close.
Blade did grab the chance to look at Alessia through the reflection in the elevator door. They were both silent and Blade was unsure whether she could hear his heartbeat beating for her continuously.
Alessia felt really uncomfortable and kept on reminding herself to stay calm and just wait for the elevator to reach her destination, but looking at the number changing on top of the door felt like it was never going to stop. She didn't ask Blade what his purpose was, but she was sure they were going in the same direction, but Blade just stayed at the elevator, and Alessia just shrugged her shoulders as she headed out first and headed inside her Dad's room to see the visitors that were there.
"Oh, Alessia, darling." Emelda said as she hugged Alessia.
And Alessia was walking towards the guests with an unsure gesture, but she tried to smile as she welcomed them.
"It's nice to meet you again. I'm sorry, this was the way we met each other again.." Alessia said as she looked at the people in front of her.
"Mrs. and Mr. Armstrong."
Alessia said and bowed. Bill just looked in the other direction while Grizel just smiled at the lady that was standing in front of them. Alessia was about to pull out her phone and decided to fake a call to escape such an awkward situation when her mother flashed in her gaze, making her shocked.
"I'm just about to head out with Mrs. and Mr. Armstrong," said Emelda to her daughter and approached her ear.
"I know you don't want to be around them," she said and winked at Alessia, who in return made her happy.
They were just gathering their things, and Alessia just bowed as the elderly were walking in front of her, and when they left, she breathed as if it was her only chance to suck every drop of air in the world.
Her feet were shaking so much, and then the door opened and that caught Alessia's attention, and her face started to rest.
"Your parents are no longer here, Mr. Armstrong, so I advise you to leave." Alessia said, but she didn't finish as Blade approached her to present flowers in front of her.
"I know the situation is too awkward for me to be here, but here I am."
"It's not much, but I pray for your father's recovery." Blade said and smiled at Alessia.
Alessia felt like her world was spinning while hearing Blade's voice while speaking. Even with the smile he gave her, Alessia knew that it was fake enough and her heart began to throb for the said man. As she was looking at him intensely, he was still the man she once knew before, but the only difference between them was that Blade was previously beardless and his eyes sparkled as he drove himself more from work.
But the Blade now looks more mature and still has those eyes that make you feel like you're looking at the highest hill you'll ever see and get lost.
"Thank you." Alessia said as she turned her back on him.
She placed the flower on the table. They didn't speak, and she didn't know what to say. Alessia bit her lip and decided to turn around to look at Blade again, but she wouldn't let herself be shaken again.
"Did you..."
"Did you ever regret what you did?" Blade asked out of curiosity.
--
Dred was just standing and looking at the big window in front of him as his hands were in his pocket. He liked to observe things, especially how those cars and trucks looked like ants or toys. While he was up there looking down on them, he was preparing himself, especially since he knew that an unexpected guest might come here, because he had received a call from his secretary that I was expecting a visitor today.
The door opened as the guests were chatting.
"Dred, is it okay if we conduct a meeting here?" Emelda asked as she opened the door, and Dred didn't get the chance to do it for them since they were already inside.
Dred just looked at them and was surprised to see Alessia's ex-in-laws entering the room. Grizel and Bill both flinched, and Dred just stared at them.
"I didn't know that you were quite trusting of Alessia's new husband. I'm impressed. " Grizel said with an unsure smile, and Dred was just looking at them.
"Pardon me, mom, but can I talk to you in private?" Dred asked Emelda, and she was shocked, but she chuckled and soon agreed after she said to the two to take a seat. Dred opened the door for her to enter the meeting room.
Emelda was not the type of interrogating person like her husband, and she sat when Dred assisted her to take a seat, and she was just looking at him.
"I know I'm not in the place to say what I said earlier, Ma'am, and I'm sorry." Dred said and bowed as low as he could.
"And I know you don't want me for your child, but please let me take her out just for a day." Dred was looking out the window when he said this, standing as still as he could.
"What are you saying?"
"I'll be returning home the day after tomorrow, and I will most likely not see her for a long time, so please let me...."
"I know it's such a cliche for a guy to say this to his in-laws, but I love Alessia so much, Ma'am, to the point that I can't explain how I feel anymore."
Dred said as he gulped and tears were on the edge of his eyes as he thought of all of the wonderful memories he had with Alessia from the time they got married until today. She was the one who never left, even though she didn't understand him.
"I know I don't fit your standards that much and loving her will never be enough, but thank you for considering me as your son-in-law after a short while."
"It means so much to me."
Emelda couldn't find the words to say. She was just lost for words as tears fell from her eyes. She never thought that anyone could love like this and her daughter was blessed by one. Emelda knew that it was true that they wanted someone financially stable to be Alessia's partner in life, and had all sorts of standards, but then Dred surpassed them all. They just weren't sure if he loved her for her and not as someone's billionaire's daughter.
Dred took a deep breath and said, "Please let me date your daughter one last time."
