Chapter 29: Chapter 29

"Why aren't you being careful, Lily?" said Jenny.

Lily arrived at her house at almost 12 am. Jenny and Lily were sitting in the living room, and Steve was already asleep, so was Justine. Jenny was busy cleaning Lily's wound, but she was busy thinking about what a shame she had done.

"My sister." Liam said

And Lily just looked at them as if she saw a ghost or something.

"Are you thinking of something gross? Because I also have thoughts much worse than what you think, " Haidee said.

And Liam just laughed. Lily was so confused and lost her attention to the wound that the female doctor was stitching, and she looked back and forth at the woman next to her and Liam from afar.

She finished closing the cut and put a bandage on it.

"Come back here after 3 days and these are the medicines." Haidee said as she gave Lily the medicine.

"My brother won't bring you here if you're not special." Haidee said to her while arranging her things and putting in the trash the gloves she used, "The prescription is on the paper and how to take the medicine. I've made it readable for you. "

"How much is all of this, Miss?" Lily asked her

"I don't need your cash. Just enjoy your life. " She said that Lily was shocked but felt a warm palm touch her small waist.

"We should go, it's getting late." Haidee just nodded her head in agreement to what Liam had said.

Liam approached Haidee and kissed her on the cheeks.

"Thank you again, Haidee," said Liam. "Thank you." Lily also said, with a matching bow, which Lily made out of sheer embarrassment.

And Haidee just waved her hands at them. Lily didn't remove the touch Liam was giving her until they got to his car and were ready to go home.

Lily was red as a tomato and was so embarrassed that she thought something she didn't mean, "Don't judge someone based on their looks." She said to herself.

And Liam started laughing, for no apparent reason. Lily finds it cute but not cute because she's curious about what he's laughing at.

"Did you really think that Haidee has a connection with me in a relationship way?" Liam asked, making her blush.

"No, I just didn't know you had a sibling." Lily said softly to him.

"I don't flirt with someone, I just look really handsome, but I don't have any other girl than you."

And Liam drives her home, clueless, out of the world and speechless at what happened to them.

"Lily?" Jenny asked

"Oh yes?"

"You've been out for like 20 seconds. Is everything alright? Or your guilt for making me stay here to lend you a hand. " Jenny said to her

And Lily was just nodding, unsure, and shook her head, preparing herself to sleep. She didn't bother saying good night to Jenny because she was tired of being on cloud-nine and went to her room to sleep.

Lily lost track of the day and forgot that it's Sunday now, but she doesn't have a choice because she has to shop for what they need because the house is almost out of stock. She carries Steve as she's looking at the families gathered inside the mall, and she's starting to compare what she had before to now, wondering if she experienced exactly the same. Her memories and the way she lived were like a dream out of a fairytale where she was the princess. Steve held her face and asked

"Mumma okay?"

And Lily just hugged Steve tight and felt happy. For some unknown reason, Lily decided to enter the grocery store and headed to where the shopping carts were placed. As she told herself, "If I'm the other person, maybe I'll be surprised at how many people are here now."

"Steve baby, don't stay away from me," said Lily.

While taking a shopping cart, Lily stopped when she saw a familiar face.

"Ma'am Emelda? Here for shopping too? "

"Oh, hello. I didn't see you there." Emelda said as she approached Lily.

Lily was uneasy, but she just thought that nothing would happen because they just talked whenever they encountered each other.

"You look okay," the old woman said to her.

And Lily was just looking at Emelda with a smile on her face.

"You look good to my lady, but don't you have some company that you can accompany?" Lily asked.

"Didn't I tell you that I only live by myself and my close grandchildren are very far away?" Emelda said while picking a cart.

And Lily started to feel really guilty for asking because she really forgot that the old girl had told her that she was really alone in life. The reason she wanted to adapt Lily and Steve under her care, as Lily's gaze shifted, she noticed that Steve, who had been clinging to her, was no longer beside her.

And when Lily felt her throat dry quickly and was terrified, she started to freak out.

"You know, my offer still stands, and---" Emelda stopped talking when she noticed Lily was so pale.

"What's wrong?" Emelda asked.

"I'm with my boy Steve. He was here earlier." Lily said while pacing and holding her forehead while looking around, looking for her son.

"I didn't notice him." The old woman said to her

"Okay, nice seeing and talking to you, Lady Emelda, but I've got to go." Lily said, with a shaky voice.

Lily didn't waste any time and went inside the grocery store, looking down the aisle with her heart pounding, and asking everyone she passed if they saw a boy this tall with blue stripes and a white shirt and cream shorts, but she was turned down because they didn't notice the little guy.

LilyLily decided to go to the information desk to announce that the child was missing, and she humbly waited on the chair beside it, but after a quick break there, Lily realized that she still had a place she couldn't go to; it's the ice cream shop where they used to go, but she knows that Steve is a smart 4-year-old kid, so he will remember where that ice cream store is.

Then Lily went there hoping to see a familiar face, and as she approached her destination, she couldn't help but sigh as she saw Steve standing outside in front of the store.

"Steve! Didn't I tell you not to leave my side?" Lily said as she broke into tears and all of her emotions that she had been suppressing just came out on purpose.

"What are you doing here? I told you to not leave my side. You could've been taken by a bad guy, baby. "

Steve just smiled at her and the next thing Steve said made Lily shocked.

"I found daddy."

Lily looked behind it to see who Steve was smiling at and was surprised to see Liam shocked with two ice cream cones dripping on his hands.
