Chapter 42: Chapter 42

5 YEARS LATER

The loud song echoed through the whole club, echoing as the loud drums in my heartbeat thundered.

Amid the swarm of bodies dancing, the sweaty bodies grind against each other, dancing to the rhythm, forgetting about tomorrow.

There he was.

Standing in all his glory.

Our eyes met, locking eyes even with the distance. I shuddered at his gaze, his dark chocolate eyes piercing against my soul, entrapping me.

I stopped dancing and it felt like the world slowed down for us. The tension lingered as his eyes gazed at me. It felt like no one was around at this moment. I tried to act innocent and nonchalant. But I could see the faint smirk coming from his lips.

He’s being photographed by the media and paparazzi around him, but his eyes stayed glued to my spot.

I raised my eyebrows and winked at him.

We were at the afterparty of a show and a series he was starring at. And I was invited by Manager Smith.

The whole while in the event, I could only feel his gaze on me.

Especially when he was being interviewed.

“Are you interested in anyone right now, Mr. Ajax?” Asked the reporter, a woman.

Ajax’s eyes were pinned on me, and I waited for his answer.

“No, I am married.”

The reporter giggled, “Ooh, this is surprising for the families bachelor in the country. Can we know if you have or when will you two have kids?”

He shrugged, acting nonchalant, “I want her to focus on her career then we'll think about that later on.”

The event continued as Ajax was with the cast of the movie.

All the while, all I could think about was his answer.

He was married. He is…a married man.

And to think he spat out the nonsense in the past, even courting me at home.

Well, it's all in the past.

He might have already been married. He moved on.

He suddenly grabbed and kissed my hands, “We meet again.”

I cleared my throat, withdrawing my hand, “Yes. I believe we have.” I looked around.

“Does the crowd bother you?”

I nodded, and he nodded before directing me to the back where there were only a few people.

“So, you’re married.” I started.

He nodded, “Yes.”

“To whom?” I asked curiously. Who must have made him move on? “Don’t you think it would hurt her if you were reported to be seen with another woman?”

Ajax snorted, “Why would she get angry with herself?”

I paused at that, “What?”

“Didn’t you know how hard it was for me?”

I blinked, “No, why would-“ I could feel someone accidentally stepping on the dress that I stumbled into his arms.

When I looked up, I could see his cheeky little grin turning into a smirk, “Seems that you took the stumbling in my life again part too seriously.”

I raised my eyebrows, “What?”

He pulled me up, “I have looked for you the entire time all around the world, and when I did, I waited until you were ready.”

“So that anonymous person who helped Ramirez tech. It was you?” To think that our debts mysteriously got paid….

“Yes.” He smiled at me, “I knew you would get angry so I kept it a secret.

I nodded, “I should have known.”

He then grabbed my hand and pulled me into a hug as he started to sway sideways.

**What day is it

And in what month?

This clock never seemed so alive

I can't keep up, and I can't back down***

He starts to sing softly in my ears and I bit my lip.

“That song…” I mumbled…that was the same song that we heard from the nipa hit of Mang Kanor…it felt like it was just yesterday.

Ajax then continued, his lips almost touching my ears now that it tickles me. His hot breath fanned over me and I could feel my legs almost losing balance.

***I've been losing so much time

'Cause it's you and me

And all of the people with nothing to do

Nothing to lose

And it's you and me

And all of the people

And I don't know why

I can't keep my eyes off of you***

“Ellaina, I’ve waited for you. I’ve always loved you. And now that I see you again, I don’t think I’ll let anyone separate you from me again so I want to ask you this.”

He then bent on one knee, “Ellaina Xzania Ramirez of the Ramirez tech. My daisy. My love, and my world,

I could feel my knees turning jelly from this. I looked at his eyes, his dark brown eyes, and I breathed deeply. “Yes, Ajax.”

There was a wide smile on his lips now, putting a ring on my finger, he then stood up and kissed me hard, and I could feel the crowd around us getting larger as celebrities, media, and almost anyone was surrounding us, clapping and laughing and cheering for us.

I could feel my heart bursting at any moment as Ajax held me so dear.

“You’re finally going to be Miss Sillas.” He muttered, leaning his head onto me as he watched me with love.

I bumped our noses together, giggling at the idea. “Hmm…I think Ramirez still suits me.” I teased him and he tickled my sides before grabbing my knee and carrying me bridal-style into his car.

“What about your parents?” I couldn’t help but ask.

“Tsk, they already agreed for you.” He answered.

“How?”

“Theon was wedded off so they don’t have any control in my life now.”

I chuckled at that, he deserves that.

“I won’t let you sleep tonight, my little daisy.” I rolled my eyes, there he goes again with that phrase I hear so often last five years ago.

“Ajax.” I gave him a look. “Don’t you dare?”

“What? It’s been five years. Five years that I had abstained.”

I scoffed at that, “Really? You never done anything with another girl while I was gone?”

I do not believe him. That’s too long for him to release…

“Yes, I promise babe. I was telling you the truth. I didn’t.”

I shook my head, “Yeah yeah. Whatever floats your boat.”

He then chuckled, gazing at me and smiling, “Five years had passed yet you’re still the same. My Ellaina.”

He then drove me to where he was checking and he get to eat me up again as if it was just yesterday again.
