Chapter 8: Chapter 8

Halima’s POV

We were all glad the drama was over and everything would go back to normal again. We spent the night at my place and Teemah called Ya Sa’eed around 5am and begged him to tell Amal to give him her uniform. He brought it around 6am and we were ready for school by 7am. My parent’s driver took us to school.

We went straight to class and since it was a Tuesday, we had our assemblies in class. When were done Fiddo, came to tell me that there was a new girl coming in later. She told us all she found out about the girl.

We were quite excited to see her because according to Fiddo, she is extraordinarily beautiful and she has pure black long hair. She is Fulani just like Teemah was.

We went parading the school looking for Amal and once we found her, Teemah collected what she told her to bring for her.

While we were at the corridor of Ss2, we saw a captivating, gorgeous, beautiful and breath taking girl. She was a brown skin girl, a little slim and tall. She has a pointed nose, large eyes that were outlined by her long black eye lashes and dimples on both cheeks. She has long black hair. She looks just like a pure fulani girl if not even shuwa Arab. She looks like one of those models we always saw on TV.

She was wearing a white flowing gown that complimented her skin and her hair was left bare open. She was wearing extremely long heels which made me think, how did she walk with those things.

When she approached us she asked where Ss1 Diamond was and her voice was very sweet. We directed her to our class and offered her a seat. As we were going back outside the bell for the first period rang so we just went back inside. When the Mathematics teacher asked the fine girl to solve a quadratic equation on the board, she couldn’t even begin with the solving talkless of giving the answers to the equation.

At that moment I heard some girls say, “At least we still got something she doesn’t, a brain”.

I didn’t know if she was hurt but I really felt for her. Everyone in the class was laughing at her. After the class she excused herself to the restroom. I followed her and I was surprised she wasn’t crying or at least let me say sobbing. Instead, she was saying something I couldn’t hear from where I was.

I moved closer and I started hearing more. She was saying “They are just lucky today is my first day at school if not I would’ve ripped their faces off so that when they laughed, they would feel immense pain instead of joy. Stupid insolent imbeciles.” She mimicked our classmates “At least we still got something she doesn’t have, a brain, blah blah blah”. She hissed then continued “Let me just spend three more days here and by the time he comes back again. They’d all regret what they did today, every single one of them”.

I was surprised at her words. I silently crept out of the place making sure not to make any noise since I now knew she was bad news.

When I was sure I was no where near the restrooms, I started thinking about her words:”and by the time he comes back too…..” those were the words that kept repeating themselves in my head.

I went back to the class so that I wouldn’t be late to physics class. When I reached there, I sat on the Teemah saved for me as usual. But today the seat she saved for me was beside her and that meant that she wanted details of what I found out. I told her everything and she was even more surprised than I was.

Teemah was more of a girls person, not that she was a lesbian. She just preferred her own type to the opposite. She never crushed on anybody since his death.

I on the other hand always changed crushes. At that time, my celebrity crush was Karan Luthra. He acted in This is fate. He is fair, a little bit short and rubost, he had six pacs and a dimple and a very big ego but that was why I loved him more. I liked guys that could walk up to any girl and say their feelings out loud, whether it was a good feeling or not.

Back to the point, she also wanted to know who the “he” was. And she promised me that she would stay clear of the girl whose name I forgot to mention.

She said it in Physics class when she was asked to introduce herself that she was UmmuKalthum Aliyu. Teemah said that her name fitted her face and everything but not her behavior.

Whilst we were eating during break, UmmuKalthum came and join us. We didn’t mind since we weren’t scared of her. It’s not us to be scared of a girl we just met but it also isn’t us to mess with potential fire that we didn’t even know about.

Anyways, she insisted that we call her Ummu for short and we didn’t argue though we were thinking of another name for her because ummu didn’t fit her at all. It was more of an old woman’s name than a model like girl.

When she left to return the plate she ate rice in since we decided to eat in the cafeteria today, we decided to stay around her thinking that maybe she would talk about this “he”. She seemed quite dumb to me because she had just met us today and guess what, she was already blabbing away about how rich her elder brother was. We just had to act smart and we’d get exactly what we wanted.
