Chapter 37: Chapter 37
Chapter Thirty — Seven
Michael POV
“Search for her.” We both said at the same time. We both knew that her absence was a really bad sign.
For our pack or for us.
If she had gone somewhere to hunt people from our pack, ripping them apart like before, then it would be bad news for our pack. It would mean that we lose our family. However, if one of them managed to kill her then it would mean that we lose her. Our other half. No matter what, we would be the one to lose in either of the situations. It was a lose — lose situation. Considering the fact that she was still our mate and I still LOVE Her. Only if there was a way out of this situation.
Damn hell, this mate bond.
“James. Make sure she does not get hurt. She still is our mate. If something happens to her then our condition will be compromised as well. Plus, we have some serious unfinished business with her that we had to deal with.” He said to me while he still looked around for an immediate threat. His words hit me rightly.
He had no idea how right he was! We had a Lot of unfinished business between us.
Ton off.
“We need her alive and unharmed. You got it?” He asked me. My wolf jerked his head.
“Got it.” I replied to him stiffly. He did not say anything else. He just turned around and went off to search for her.
This time we had to find her, not only because she was our mate but also because she was our Enemy now. She had betrayed us. Made a fool out of us. And most importantly, because she was killing the people who had accepted her, respected her and gave all of their love to her.
Our pack members.
I could not even decide what I will do to her when I get my hands on her. Forgiving her was not an option. Especially not in this scenario. This time she, not only betrayed us but also our whole pack as well. She introduced our family to violence that they did not deserve. None of them. Therefore, they all deserve justice. She had exceeded all her boundaries of humanity.
Justice needed to be served.
All of my thoughts faded, and I forced myself to shift my whole focus back into reality. These thoughts could wait. For now, I needed to deal with the present situation.
I dodged a hunter that jumped on me from above. Even still, he caught a hold of my leg. I used the same foot, twisted it before slamming the guy onto the ground, making it his grave there itself. Not giving a second thought to his cracking bone sound or the way his was twisted in an uncomfortable position, I shook my whole body to get rid of any remnants on my body before I sprang back to my mission and started my search for her.
Using the advantage of having a wolf vision, I scanned the whole crowd in mere seconds, looking for her but could not find a single trace of her existence.
My search for her turned out to be a complete disaster considering the fact that I was unable to get rid of these hunters. The more I killed them the more they appeared. By the way they were coming back to me, again and again, almost being countless, I highly doubted that I could find her before all of us were dead.
“Made any progress?” I asked James through the mind link. I picked two hunters at the same time and tore them apart. My teeth snapped on the other one who jumped up in the air to land on my back. I jumped too and grabbed him by his neck, breaking it right in the air before I threw him on another hunter who was preparing himself to attack me from behind.
“No.” He replied. I could hear by the way his wolf was half panting and half growling, that even his wolf had begun to feel tired. For my worry, mine had too. Our Alpha wolves could go on to fight on and on but unfortunately for us our current situation had turned things completely against us.
I had not slept for more than thirty — six hours, my father's death news had exhausted me to the core and finding Linda on our enemies side did not make things any better for us.
If our Alpha wolves could not handle this then how would the rest of the wolves of the pack survive this? Their wolves were even weaker than ours. They would be tiring themselves down by killing these unending hunters and would give out in any seconds from now on.
The hunters had chosen the best and, for us, the worst timing to attack. At the moment, we were at our weakest point. We had lost our leader, our strength, our power and out of all the days they had decided to attack us.
James wolf let out a big growl inside my head.
“It's impossible to get past these hunters. Their numbers are not decreasing at all. No matter how many I kill. What about… You? Did you make any progress?” He asked me.
“Nope. Same as you. I just could not get past them. They are increasing in numbers. Right now, it is too difficult for me to get out of here.” I told him.
“Hmm.” Came his low reply. He must have gotten busy in fighting off these hunters.
“James?” I said his name to get his attention.
“Yeah?” He asked.
“I think we should forget about Linda for now. Our top most priority should be to get rid of these hunters. Otherwise, this day would be the END of our pack.” I told him and this time, I could swear I heard his wolf letting out a whine.
“James, are you okay?” I asked. I was still fighting with three wolves around me, from which one managed to slashed me in my front leg and a second later I heard my bone cracking.
Likewise, I hissed out in pain, but that pain also gave me a sudden high of adrenaline rush. With a sudden headbutt, I managed to throw two of them off me. The third one was finished with a jerk of my teeth.
After a second James replied.
“Yeah… yeah. I'm fine. Are you alright?” He asked me. He probably must have heard my hiss of pain.
“Yeah. I'm fine.” I replied.
“You are right. We could leave Linda for a little later. Right now, we need to focus on getting rid of these bastards.” He said, and I almost smirked the way he said, 'Bastards'.
“What do you suggest?” I asked him. Now, I could feel my wolf started to exhaust itself.
“I think we should…” James' voice was cut in half as Adan's voice boomed in our head.
“Michael, James, listen to me. The hunters had managed to…” his voice cut to a stop and my heart started beating louder.
“Adan? Adan? Speak up. Damn it.” I cursed in annoyance.
“They had found our hideout. We would not be able to hold them any longer…” He said, but his voice was cut off again.
“Adan? Adan?” I yelled inside my head but did not get any reply back.
“Oh, shit!” Both of us said in unison. Not good. Shit, it's not good.
“What should we do now?” I asked out loud to myself. This situation was getting out of hand. We needed to do something. That was the place for our weakest people of our family members. I knew that the woman would turn into their wolves and fight the hunters off until they breathed their last breath, but we did not want them dead. We were the Alphas. It was our duty to keep them safe. We could not fail that. Not now, not ever.
“Meet me in the hidden passageway James. We are going to need our back-up support, and then we need to save the people who are staying in hideout.” I said.
“But how the hell am I supposed to shrug off these many idiots?” He asked me.
“Make it happen!” I barked at him.
“Hurry!” I shouted
“Fine.” He replied.
Then we got on the work.
