Chapter 36: Chapter 36

Chapter Thirty — Six

James POV

Today was the worst day of my life. Not only did I have to deal with the news about the death of my father and had to bury him the same day but even his funeral was disturbed by the sudden attack on our land.

The attack was sudden, but we were prepared for this kind of situation. Our dad had personally taught us how to handle a sudden attack or fights like this and how to turn every odd against our favor. Situations like this were necessary in our fighting training session. Protect the weak, take the front with the rest of the strongest wolves and KILL. That was his simple mantra to summon a whole situation like this. However, one thing that I was sure that he did not prepare us for, in the training, was the Betrayal from someone of your own.

Especially from your mate.

Well at least not like this.

When I first saw her in front of my eyes, I was ecstatic with joy because for some reason, from the time she disappeared, I had convinced myself that I would never see her again.

Yet, here she was.

Still my joy of seeing her was little when I saw her doing the unbelievable.

Her hands were around one of our wolves before she twisted it upwards, and it fell to the ground lifeless. Right after she killed him, she picked out another one of our pack members and slashed his head off his body.

She was killing our pack members, my FAMILY, with her bare hands. Tearing them apart in two pieces, savagely.

And that snapped something in me.

She was fighting against us and not for us. She was fighting from our enemy's side.

At first, I thought that I might be imagining things but when my eyes took in the lifeless bodies she left on the ground, I realized it. Everything that was happening around me was real.

It was then when pure rage and anger burst through my veins. A fire that could only be satisfied with blood. A lust to hear them screaming in pain. To have them on my mercy.

No one touches my family and gets away with it.

No One.

Not even her.

Michael and my own eyes met, and I saw the same fire in his eyes that I was feeling in my own eyes. He was just as betrayed as I was.

He was raging too.

We both let out one of the loudest growl that people had ever heard and after that we transformed into our Alpha wolves.

This time our power was of a real Alpha. It was obvious that we both inherited our father's strength which made us strong but the new power that I felt, flowing in my veins, was new.

It was The real power of Alpha.

When our father died, his powers were transmitted to us.

Our growl had an immediate effect on our people. For a second everything that was happening around us died down, but then the whole battlefield ground started to echo with growls all around. One by one everyone, including all board members, began to change into their wolves and prepared for the real fight.

It was time.

We all growled and charged towards our enemies. Michael and I parted and went into two different directions. He tore every enemy apart, whoever dared to step in his way.

I did the same but put some extra strength to it. I dug my teeth in any hunter's throats whenever I got a chance and ripped it apart, tasting their blood. Not only that, but I tore their head, slashed their body with my nails, dug their head into the ground and the rest of the body flung on other hunters.

Killing hunters, as I found them in my, I saw a kid that was no older than six years, standing alone in the middle of the fight, wailing and looking around frantically for help. I ran towards him. From the corner of my eyes, I saw a huntress coming in for the kid, but I was there in a flash. I jumped on the huntress and opened my jaw wide enough to swallow her whole head and dug my sharp dangs in it. She cried out and her hands shot towards my jaw, trying to pry it open, but my jaw was resolute to tear her head open and so was I. With a crack like sound, her neck broke, and I tore it apart from her body before throwing it away.

Now, my attention shifted to the kid who from my previous attack had fallen down. He was still crouched down, when Adan appeared at my side as a wolf.

I connected my mind link with his and instructed his task.

“Take every kid, woman, older, anyone who could not fight, into the hideout and place guards there. Make sure they stay safe.” He growled in agreement before bowing his head for the kid. The kid got on his back, and they sped off to their safe place.

Meanwhile, I dived right back into the fight. Cracking one's neck and tearing the other in a half, I headed towards Kye who was struggling to keep five hunters at bay. Right as I moved forward and shoved a hunter aside, I felt a weight settling behind on my back.

I moved my head back and tried to snap at the hunter who was trying to get a hold of my neck, when suddenly he was snatched back and killed an instant by another wolf.

Eason's wolf.

He was back. He looked well enough to fight again.

“I'm back.” He told me through the mind link. Inside me, I felt a deep warmth sprang to life. He was one of the greatest and ruthless wolf fighters in our pack. Having him back gave me some hope. At least, something good happened today.

“Welcome back.” I told him through our mind link before I ran to help Kye. He was captured by three hunters. Trying his best to keep them at bay.

In a flash, I tore two hunters apart from him and threw them across the border. They ran right back to us but by this time they came back, Kye had already gained his footings back. He killed the last hunter that was hanging from his neck and then both of us killed the other two.

For some unusual matter, I realized that I had not seen Linda anywhere. Which was not a good sign at all.

Out of nowhere, Michael appeared at my side.

“I lost the sight of her.” He said, and he killed a hunter on his side.

“Me too.” I said.

“Search for her.” We both said at the same time.
