Chapter 32: Chapter 32

Chapter Thirty — Two

James POV

All three of us walked towards a grand opening where public punishments usually take place. Whipping and such. It was situated in a complete deserted place.

We were just about to round the corner when we came face to face with Dad.

He looked at three of us and his forehead ceased. His face was still stiff, but there was no visible anger on his face.

Yet.

“Where are you three going?” Dad asked us.

Michael and I connected our mind link and just as quickly lost the connection. Dad glared at Linda and she told him.

“They wanted to show me something.” Linda answered him.

“Something? What something?” Dad asked. His eyes darting from Michael's face to mine.

Out of nowhere, Adan appeared at his side. Looking mildly disturbed by seeing all of us together at the same place.

He bowed to Dad and nodded his head to us, as an acknowledgement.

“Umm. Did you tell your father?” He asked us. And I wanted to bang his head in the wall. Why did he have the worst timing of all? He probably sensed his answer by our looks because he pursed his lips.

Dad crossed his arms around his chest.

“What is going on? What were you or what were you not, going to tell me?” Dad asked.

“They asked for Janet's presence at Executioners field.” He told Dad.

I swore under my breath. Shit. This was not planned. We had forgotten, for some very stupid reason, to inform dad about our little revenge. About how we were about to deliver punishment to Janet. Even though we did not have that power.

Because none of us were Alphas yet.

“Both of them were organizing a public punishment for her.” Adan added. Adding fuel to the fire. Why? Why did he need to open his goddamn mouth? Why?

The reaction was instant and as fierce as I had expected. A growl vibrated. Which shook the floor under our feet and all of us, each and every single one of us, took one step back.

“Call Eason. Tell him that Linda is on her way and that he can talk to her.” Dad growled.

“Dad —” Michael said, tensed.

“And you two, come with me. Right now.” He ordered darkly before turning in his heel and walking away. Not looking back once, to see if we were following him or not. Because he knew we will.

Linda looked scared and nervous all at the same time. Her expressions made me feel to cover her and keep her safe from every danger around her. But I knew that she needed to deal with this on her own.

I hugged Linda and whispered to her in a low voice.

“Don't answer anything you don't want to. We will be there as soon as possible. Don't get nervous.”

Michael hugged her too and without further wasting any time, we headed in the direction of our Dad's office.

We entered his office and in a blink of an eye, I was slammed onto the wall and lifted off the ground. I groaned, my eyes snapping shut from the impact. Another groan came from my side.

Slowly, I opened my eyes. I heard a deep sound of growling, and I glanced up to see Dad holding both Michael and I, from our necks, lifting us up in the air.

It surprised me more than scaring me. Dad, never, ever, in his life had attacked us like this. Never.

Another growl escaped his mouth, and he looked livid. Whole room was filled with heavy tension.

“Be glad that both of you are my son's. If you had been someone else, I would have tortured you with no mercy, making an example in the Public's eyes before executing you myself.” He growled. Then he threw us on the opposite side of each other with too much force. I slammed against the wall before sliding down on the floor. Michael had the same fate. For once, all air left my lungs and my vision blurred while my veins felt on fire.

Damn this Alpha power.

“How dare you order a punishment without my orders? How dare you to use powers that only Alpha practice?” He roared.

“Dad. We just wanted justice for our mate...” Michael said, trying to justify our actions, but his timing was off. Dad picked his chair and threw it at him. It broke near Michael's side. Dad never missed his aim, so he was certainly not intending to hurt him even though I knew from his face that he wanted to.

So badly.

“If you want justice for your mate then become the next alpha. Don't try to steal your father's power to get your own way. You little fucker.” Dad snapped.

“My friend died yesterday. And here you are trying to fulfill your revenge fantasy. You little punks.” Dad raced his voice.

His words made me feel angry.

On myself.

Because he was right. He was already going through so much, and we were behaving like ungrateful idiots. He gave us everything and that's how we repaid him. The guilt I felt crushed me to my deepest core.

“Dad, we — I said, but dad stopped me with a raise of his hand.

“ — No.” He said. He closed his eyes and opened them, looking a bit calm.

“Go and do what I had asked you to do. Search about your mate and then come back.” He said. He pointed his fingers to our faces.

“Only then come back. Don't show me your faces until you have gathered every bit of information about your mate.” He told us. I stood up and so did Michael.

“Now, get lost.” He said.

We did what he asked. We left our house, without saying a word and dived into the search for whatever we could find about her.

For some strange reason, we could not find anything about her. No matter what whoever we asked where we went, there was no mention of a girl named Linda.

And that freaked me out.

When we came up with nothing, we hurried back to our house. Fearing something bad.

Terrible.

My gut told me that something wrong was going to happen. Something horrible. I wish I was wrong. However, when we raced back to our house, I knew my gut feeling was right.

Standing on our land, my heartfelt heavy, I felt a deep feeling of sorrow and my heart slumped for some reason. Michael told me he felt the same.

As soon as we entered our place, we saw that everyone in our pack was crying, some people were whispering, some people were running, some were consoling the crying once.

All in all everything was in chaos.

My worry increased when I Adan came running to us, looking disheveled. He looked at us with a pained expression.

He opened his mouth and told the reason for this chaos around us and my world came crashing down, all at once.

“Your father is dead. Someone poisoned him. And Linda is missing.”
