Chapter 25: Chapter 25

Chapter Twenty — Five

James POV

Janet explained everything to us. And I mean everything. And when I heard it, I could not believe my own ears.

She told us that she was keeping an eye on me to get me alone, so that we could talk, when I suddenly disappeared from her sight.

She searched for me everywhere. When she could not find me anywhere, she came to the bar for a drink to calm herself down when she saw me dancing with Linda. It made her angry. Furious.

“That bitch is always around you. Always. Like a bee on honey. And you instead of stopping her you encouraged her. Loved her attention.” Janet shouted at me. Dad had rubbed his head because he was not in for listening to her complaints. He ordered her to shut up with her nonsense and continue with her story.

“She stole my Dance.” She barked the words at me. She had emphasized the words, 'My Dance'. Turns out, I had promised her a dance in the past that she was still holding on to, which I really don't remember at all, and seeing Linda dancing with me had set her on fire with jealousy.

So she planned the nastiest thing in the world. She asked Jaby, the son of beta from Black Root pack, to hook up with Linda. She slipped the drug in Linda's drink when she was not looking and sent her off to the room Jaby was in. Telling her that I had asked to meet her there.

And that’s how things went afterwards.

“But why did he agree to do it? Did he not know that we will have his neck for touching our mate?” Michael wondered out loud. Janet let out a roar of laughter. Michael and I exchanged looks.

“Shut up and answer the question.” Dad snapped at her. She stopped laughing and looked at Jaby who was looking scared and angry at the same time.

“Don't say anything, bitch. I'm warning you.” He threatened Janet and then turned to us.

“I did not do anything. Please, just let me go.” He pleaded to us.

“Shut up or else I will sew your mouth.” I snapped at him. It made him shut up.

Janet jerked her head towards him.

“He just wanted to have a taste of an Alpha's mate. Since he knew that he would never get one chance to have one for himself. And when I warned him about the consequences, he laughed at my face. Telling me, 'He liked to take risks'. “ She said mockingly, quoting the last line.

A series of growls echoed around the place. My wolf pounced inside me. Getting furious by the minute, I tried to hold him in. Even dad let out a growl.

“Does anyone know that he is in our confinement?” I asked no one in particular while my eyes never left the guy's.

“No.” Logan said and shook his head.

“Nobody knows where he is. Not even his dad or his own pack. But I'm pretty sure they would be coming here soon. To search for him. And the news of another missing person might have already reached the council.” He told us.

“And that person would remain missing.” Dad said while smirking at Jaby. Then he turned to look at us.

“After all, many people are going missing mysteriously anyway. No one would bat an eye if another one went missing.” He told us. Or more specifically to him.

“No one will care.” He said before shooting Jaby an arrogant grin. Jaby's eyes widened in horror as he realized what dad was suggesting.

Dad put his hands in his pockets before he casually instructed us.

“Get rid of the mess after you both are done with him.” He said nodding his head towards Jaby.

“I will handle the council and anyone from the Black Root pack, who may come here looking for him.” Dad announced and Jaby started to wriggle to set himself free from the chair, asking us to let go of him, continuously.

Dad moved towards the door but stopped and looked at Janet.

“And as for you. As a punishment, your status from the pack will be taken away. You are no longer the daughter of Joseph. And you would not be treated like a member of our pack but as a servant, born to serve every other pack member. From now on you will work in field work and work as a subordinate to everyone working there. Any complaint from anyone and I will personally deal with you.” He said.

“Mark my words. No complaints.” He warned her. He told me to sort out whatever was between Janet and me, through mind — link, and to put an end to it, before disappearing outside the cell.

I slowly walked towards Janet who was snarling at Jaby for calling her a Bitch. I knelt down in front of her before I looked her dead in the eyes. She returned my glare without hesitation. She looked angry, but I knew that she was hiding the hurt inside her and fighting back tears. Furthermore, she was too stubborn for her good.

Seeing her like this, I realized one thing. I was the reason for this. For her to behave this way. Not a sole reason but still one of the main reasons, nonetheless.

Reaching out, I tucked a string of her hair that fell over her face behind her ear. Then I stroked her cheek with the back of my hand. She leaned on my touch.

“Why? Why did you do it?” I asked her. For once completely genuine. Her face hardened at my question.

“Because you are mine.” She answered in a quivering yet strong voice. I smiled at her gently and stroked her cheek with my thumb.

“I am not yours, Janet. You knew that way before we found Linda. And it would be better if you keep that in your mind from now on. I was never yours. And I will never be.” I said and Janet sucked in a sharp breath.

“I'm letting you off this once. But from now on, if you ever, and I mean EVER did anything to harm Linda then you will see the worst side of me. One that no one had ever seen before. Remember this.” I told her before I straightened up.

For a few minutes Janet remained on the ground not moving, but then she moved.

She stood up. She was taken away by Logan. Before leaving with her, Logan threw two knives, one to each of us, Michael and I. We both caught it in the air and returned the smirk that Logan threw at us.

“Have fun.” He said.

“We will.” Michael replied.

The door shut behind us.

Finally, we turned to the guy who was cussing and begging at the same time, for us to let him go. He was jerking his hands, legs. Doing anything and everything to get out of the restraints but was unable to do so.

Michael and I exchanged grins before we dived into the work.

Let the fun begin.
