Chapter 62: Chapter 62

“I cannot believe that the son of a wicked woman pulled a fast one on us. How could I have been so stupid to have signed such a thing?” Liam’s father says this as he stands up.

His wife remains frozen on the couch, swimming in utter dismay and incredulity. It makes me wonder how they did not see that clause. They look utterly clueless. Their solid, flabbergasted reaction has nothing to do with pretense. They seem beyond appalled and penitent.

Well, they should. I mean, for selling their only child for such an insane deal. They should really be embarrassed. I am sorry for being a bitch, but not even their reaction can make up for what Liam has gone through. All hail to them.

But these Edward Con-humans—how can they be so cruel? I mean, such cruel people really do exist, huh? They are really demons of a kind. They deserve an award for the best cons in the world. Shameless thieves!

“So, what have you come up with, son? Is there any plan to stop this? Please tell me that it is not too late. Tell me that we still have a way out of this.” His father pleads.

So, now they turn to Liam when they need his help. A while later, they were on his neck, accusing him of all sorts of crimes. They probably almost regretted having him as their son. And now they are turning to him for help. After subjecting him to misery for two good years, now they want him to provide some hope out of the cage they tossed themselves into. Life is indeed a spin. And time is a pretty good teacher. See how their pleadful eyes are fixed on Liam, asking for him to send them a ray of hope.

"Son, I am sorry for how we reacted to you earlier. We really thought that you were indeed cheating on your wife, like she told us. We did not know that this is the kind of hell you have been going through. Please forgive us. And please tell us if there is any hope that we can break away from all this.” His mother pleads as she racks her feet.

Liam sighs deeply. “I have a plan.” That alone brings brightness to their faces. And of course, I understand how much they were scared of losing such a big empire. Learning that there is a way to save it and themselves, even if it is just a thin one, would most definitely stir their hearts.

“That is great, son. So, what is your plan? Please let us hear it so that we can help you with it. I want nothing but to save my hard-built empire and make those morons pay dearly for trying to rip me off my sweat.” His father speaks with fury. He really looks like he will not have mercy on them if he finds a way to avenge them.

“I am afraid I cannot tell you my plan, Mother. I will work on it myself. The only thing I need you people to do is not tell this to anyone. Leave the rest to me and Lynn.” He states, drawing his parents into a state of disarray as they summoned their confused glares at me for a minute.

“Lynda? Where does she come in with this whole plan of yours, son?” His mother implores them as they drag their gazes back to him again.

“That is a secret. You all will know when the right time comes.” Liam states.

“When is this the right time that you are talking about, son?” His father asks

“You will know when the time comes, father. For now, you can rest assured that I will not let your empire fall into the hands of those greedy thieves." Liam affirms.

His father nods his head. From the look of things on his dark countenance, it is not because he is okay with his son not involving them in his plan, but he just surrendered, perhaps because he knows there is nothing like changing his son’s mind. His mother, on the other hand, is bathing in disbelief. She seems like she still has a lot to say—unanswered questions and baffles. One of her questions must be why and how Liam could trust me more than them. She always had a problem with me. I know she still has, and today has given her more reasons to hate me. I know she is internally cursing me for this.

“Don’t you trust us enough, son, to let us know about your plan? We are your parents. We want to help you because we share the same sentiments and goals here. It is not right that you are trusting a stranger more than us. We should work this out together as a family.” Her mother speaks my mind.

I knew it! I knew she was having a hard time believing that her son had involved me in his plan and yet shut them out. I know she also detests the idea that I am the one carrying her grandchild. I know she is asking herself why, of all the people in the world, Liam chose me to help him. She will probably suffer a heart attack when she learns of our love affair with Liam. I doubt that she will even bear the fact that I have slept with her son and that we conceived this child in a natural way. I am not so bitchy, and I may not love her, but that is only because she showed me nothing but rejection from day one, and I do not wish her any harm. That is why I pray that she will be able to handle the truth when the time comes. So that my child can have a grandmother. Fingers crossed!

“Well, mother, this stranger is whom I trust the most in my life ever since my parents threw me off to the wolves. You people are the worst to talk about trust because if you trusted me even for a minute, if only you wished me well, we would not be here. You wouldn’t have signed that agreement.” Liam states, and they all bury their faces deep into the air.
