"Alright, summon your Space familiar."

Baby Cloud was of the Mechanical attribute, so the Void God didn’t think that it was the one. In addition, it was already at the Quasi-Legendary rank, so it definitely wasn’t the familiar that Lu Ran said was approaching its next evolution.

Lu Ran quickly summoned Captain Doofus. It looked quite majestic as it stood on top of the mechanical castle with its fur flowing in the wind. The Void God nodded in approval once it saw that the husky was an Intermediate Overlord. Compared to the weak Space fluctuations coming from Baby Cloud, Captain Doofus gave off the feeling of a powerful Space-attribute user.

"I see that it has four attributes: Wind, Ice, Space, and Light. It cultivated multiple attributes, but its Space attribute is well developed. It’s clearly very talented and worthy of my blessing."

Lu Ran nodded in agreement as he felt that Captain Doofus’s Teleportation Slash and domain skill were all top-tier. The cherry on top is that it acquired a domain skill at level 30. Such talent was far beyond ordinary.

"What is the dog staring at?"

The Void Mantis frowned at the blank look plastered on Captain Doofus’s face. It clearly didn’t hear a single word the Void God said and was intently staring at the Void God’s dual sickles. When Lu Ran realized what was happening, his face immediately darkened.

He whacked Captain Doofus over the head because he knew that it was picturing itself using the Void God’s sickles as swords. Luckily, the Void God couldn’t tell what was going on in the husky’s head.

"Please just ignore it, Lord Void God. It’s a bit mentally challenged."

"Yes, I can tell from the way it looks."

The Void God had seen the Teleporting Slash performed countless times before by a wide variety of species. This was the first time it saw the technique performed by such a dumb-looking creature. Overlord and Legendary creatures all shared a calm and collected look in their eyes, while the husky’s eyes just looked blank and dull. It even started to suspect whether the husky’s attainments in the Space attribute were obtained through its own effort or piles of resources.

Space rippled around Lu Ran and Captain Doofus, and before the duo could figure out what was happening, the Void God spoke up.

"This is my blessing. What you make of it is all up to you."

Lu Ran looked at Captain Doofus’s information and noticed a new species talent. The husky also noticed its new ability and gave the Void God a soft bark of gratitude.

Thanks. Once I become a god myself, I will make sure to look after you!

"Huh?" The Void Mantis wondered if it had misunderstood the dog.

Lu Ran hit Captain Doofus on the head again.

—Cut it out with the crazy ideas. Next time you see a Legendary creature, can’t you just beg like a good dog?

"This talent will allow you to plunder Space energy from void beasts. Every void beast is born with the Space attribute, and their affinity for it far exceeds that of the average creature from Stellar Moon. This talent can raise your husky’s affinity for the Space attribute to that of a Quasi-Legendary void beast. Such attainments wouldn’t be inferior to some Low-Legendary creatures that don’t specialize in the Space attribute.

“If you want to reach that level, however, you will need to hunt void beasts far beyond your current level. It won’t be an easy task. Not only are void beasts powerful in combat, but they are also masters of concealment and assassination, which makes them extremely tricky opponents.

"I will send you to an area with void beasts in the level 50 to 70 range. Besides void beasts, the area is also full of Space resources and treasures from other worlds. What you can obtain will depend on your abilities. If you’re ready, then I will send you off right now.

Once it realized that Captain Doofus wasn’t all there in the head, it ignored what the husky was doing. As a god, it had interacted with creatures of all sorts and personalities. He waved one of its sickles, and a void stone appeared out of thin air and landed in Lu Ran’s hand.

"Thank you, Lord Void God!"

Lu Ran was delighted. Although it wasn’t exactly how he had pictured it panning out, it was still an amazing opportunity. Each Divine Dragon kin had a unique personality and their own way of doing things. The Void God didn’t use its powers to directly enhance other creatures. Rather, it provided a training ground for others to improve through their own efforts.

The Void Battlefield was most likely similar to the Abyss that Ghost Mother sent Shi Zhen to. He didn’t care about the method as long as it helped his familiars improve their foundation for their evolution. At this point, even Legendary resources such as the Wind God’s Heart weren’t enough to raise a familiar to the Legendary rank. The Wind God itself was only a Low Legendary.

Once Captain Doofus fused its attributes, Quasi-Legendary was guaranteed, but it would still be a bit shy of reaching Legendary. The Void Hunter talent from the Void God could take Captain Doofus’s Space abilities to the next level, but it will take a lot of effort on their part. The opportunity wasn’t inferior to the Wind God’s Heart in the slightest since the Space attribute was a more difficult attribute to improve than Wind.

Of course, all of this was referring to Captain Doofus’ normal state, without help from its Sword Sovereign talent. With it, Captain Doofus could already reach Quasi-Legendary with the help of the sword spirit. However, that only improved some of its base attributes, such as attack, defense, speed, etc. It didn’t have any impact on its attribute-based abilities.

Like Sudden Death King, whose base stats could reach the level of Low Legendary by relying on its kin, without the proper way to make use of those stats, it still wouldn’t be able to beat a creature of the Low Legendary rank. Improving attribute affinity would be able to make up for the deficiency.

Once its Space attribute was fused with its Wind attribute, Captain Doofus’ combat abilities would definitely outclass Sudden Death King’s.

I hope that Captain Doofus will be able to fight toe to toe with Legendary secret realm bosses after it evolves. It’s the only familiar that I found the perfect set of evolution resources for. If its combat power does not soar after evolution, then we will both have to apologize to Six-Path Flower, who worked so hard to get those resources.

The Void God was ready to send Lu Ran off, as it was pretty busy overseeing the situation in the void. It didn’t have time to waste hanging out with him. Although the dog was only an Intermediate Overlord, which was pretty weak, and although it also seemed kind of stupid, it wasn’t too worried about Lu Ran because Baby Cloud was a level 60 Quasi-Legendary. He should be fine even if he ran into danger.

Deep in the void, there was a section where space was relatively more stable. When Legendary creatures clashed throughout history, many would damage the world barrier, creating space fractures. Objects would get pulled through these space fractures, and the vast majority would be ground to dust, but some resources were powerful enough to travel through the turbulent space.

In the void, there was no light, water, or solid ground. The only semblance to ground of any sort was the chunks of debris that were floating around. While the area lacked many necessities for life, there were still many creatures inhabiting it.

Even the Void God wasn’t entirely sure of their origins. They could be native to the void or perhaps from other worlds. They could even possibly be from the Stellar Moon world and simply evolved to adapt to the void. Regardless of how they came to be, they were extremely dangerous creatures due to their unique characteristics. The most advanced void beasts could even withstand space turbulence and gnaw on the world barrier itself.

A spatial fracture split open, and a mechanical castle slowly emerged. It illuminated the dark void to help Lu Ran navigate the area. They originally came to hunt, but the second they arrived, they were seen as prey by creatures lurking in the dark.

A strange buzzing sound suddenly appeared. When Lu Ran turned to look for the source, he saw a swarm of mosquito-like creatures rushing toward him like a giant wave.

Lu Ran didn’t expect to encounter a creature with the same ability as Dark Crow. To be fair, Dark Crow was actually the one ripping off the void mosquitoes. Such a large swarm was equivalent to a level 57 Superior Overlord. They attacked immediately, and Captain Doofus leapt into the air to meet them. With a flash, it transformed into its Quasi-Legendary bone hound form. With a swing of its sword, dozens of devastating slashes of sword qi shot toward the swarm of mosquitoes.

Even though the mosquitoes’ ability allowed them to merge with the void, they couldn’t avoid the attacks fused with Space sword intent. In just a few seconds, the swarm was split apart, crushing its formation. At Captain Doofus’s current strength, it was like shooting fish in a barrel.

As Captain Doofus killed the mosquitoes, ripples of Space energy gathered around its body. However, in spite of the large number of mosquitoes it slew, it only received minimal benefits.

It was extremely angry at the mosquitoes for how useless they were.

I will remember this grudge...

It unleashed a few more attacks to completely destroy the corpses that were floating around. It might as well use them to get some more exercise in, so that they wouldn’t be a complete waste of time. After destroying the corpses, a few more ripples appeared on its body.

"Alright, let's stop wasting time on these small fries. They are clearly not worth our time, so we’ll have to find something stronger."

Having said this, he summoned Dark Crow and sent it to scout the area.

"My Lord, I have a better idea."

Instead of flying around, it activated its species talent.

"We are about to be attacked by a horde of high-level creatures."

The prediction quickly echoed through the void.

Lu Ran nodded in approval of Dark Crow’s decision. Compared with traditional search methods, Dark Crow’s idea was far more efficient. The Void God previously told him that void beasts were especially good at hiding, so Dark Crow’s species talent was the perfect counter.
