Chapter 69: Chapter 69

Abigail sighed as she examined the counter, "and he... He just melted it?"  She asked turning to the three before her.

“Yes, he did and it was awesome!" Alessia began as she continued with her explanation, “then he started glowing, brighter than I've ever seen, I swear it was so hot I felt like the sun had decided to give birth to a mini sun right in the middle of the kitchen.

His eyes popped out of his head like a hot air balloon, you know like one of those cartoon, he was frankly very scary, but I wasn't scared, nope.  I just decided to stay put because personally I didn't want to be melted to a pulp, then his veins oh his veins looked like golden snakes weaving and swerving underneath his pale sk-"

"What Alessia means is he changed, he melted the counter in less than second, and the temperature increased so fast we couldn't understand it.” Anna explained giving her daughter a stern look.

Ena run her hand over the melted top that had cooled so that it formed a solid table of unrecognizable metal, she wondered what magic spell could undo this.

She shook her head turning to the mother protector, "I don't know what could have made him react this way, did he mention anything else before." She trailed off glancing at the three before her.

"No, " Edwin replied shaking his head, he had a lost look in his eye as if trying to remember anything of Azian's strange behavior that could possibly be of help, "he only looked very lost in thought, like he was trying to, I don't know ...maybe remember something, or see something, .." He trailed off wondering if he had even made sense.

His father had never told him being a guardian to a golden dragon would be this tiresome. He was expecting a lot of fighting, yes but not a rebellious dragon.

Golden Dragons were supposed to be powerful beings who controlled things and not break them. Obviously his father had no idea how Teenage golden dragons behaved because Azian seemed to be calling for trouble every second.

He knew Azian had escaped to see his forbidden possession the moment they realized he was not in the bathroom or even the house in particular anymore.

He clenched his jaw as Orion complained how hard there job was becoming.

"That doesn't make sense, I have no idea what could have happened to the boy, " Ena replied clearly at a loss for words as she took another look at the melted counter wondering just how much heat it took for him to completely melt the counter, and not just the counter, it seemed even the other metal objects seemed to have melted to some extent, like the spoons and the curved up forks.

But then what surprised her was how careful he had been not to melt the other three scared little beings that had been in the room with him at that moment.

"This is-wow, it’s amazing" Mariah finally said rubbing her chin as she studied the disfigured metal puddle,

"You think that's cool, you should check out the bathroom, he completed destroyed that sucker, " Alessia replied widening her eyes.

Abigail folded her arms biting her bottom lip, "I don't like this, I don't like this at all" she said aloud to no one in particular.

"Where could he be?  I'm worried about him Abi, we should start searching for him, who knows what could be happening,” Anna began in a low concerned tone.

"I-I'm sure he will be back soon, T-there’s no need to worry" Edwin replied eagerly, the last thing he needed was them doing a location spell on Azian.

He doubted Azian had been smart enough to hide his aura when he had left, He clearly hadn't been thinking properly and even if he did, Abigail would surely be able to find him.

She was a great witch, which meant her magic was powerful, plus Omega always seemed to answer to her call whenever he was needed even when he didn't recognize it, they seemed to have some sort of magical connection.

Abigail sighed at this, "there's no need for that" she said calmly.

This put Edwin at ease for only a second before she spoke again, "I know where he is, well if he is still there anyway" she replied taking a seat beside the melted counter.

Edwin's heart sped up dramatically, somehow deep inside he felt things were going to get worse from here.

He locked eyes with Abigail who seemed to be eyeing him sternly, "you must have known I'm not a mere witch, right Edwin?  Azian may be able to shower and wash her scent off but it's hard to wash off an aura,” she stated bluntly.

Edwin took a deep breath out, of course she knew, Abigail knew.

"Are we missing something?" Ena asked watching the two, paying particular attention to how Edwin moved uncomfortably underneath Abigail's stare.

Abigail turned to the rest of the small group, "agh well, he should he at Kayas house, at least he's been spending the last few nights there, only for a few hours" she explained watching as all their faces dropped in shock, all except Edwin of course who exited a rather guilty aura.

"What?” Ena echoed glancing from Abigail to Edwin questionably.

Edwin sighed rolling his shoulders in a circular motion, "agh" he muttered, this was all Azians fault,” it was supposed to be just for a few nights, " he confessed trying to make it seem as positive as possible.

They had been caught, he had no choice but to spill the beans, and he felt uncomfortable under Abigail's stern eye.

"Azian thought his dragon was more receptive to Kaya than his own mate, so... we decided to test that theory and it did work...to some extent ...we were able to get Alpha talking"

"What?" Ena echoed once again. Alessia began to think it was her new favorite word.

Edwin glanced at her monetarily, "he only spent two to three hours there with the girl, I swear it was because we thought it would help bring Alpha out, well at least in the beginning that was the plan...” He trailed off.

"You mean the boy is still seeing his possession?" She asked an amused

Abigail answered in his stead, “Yes, Ena that is what Edwin is trying to say,” she replied with a tight smile.

Ena couldn't believe her ears as she turned to the great witch, "and you knew of this and continued to let it happen? Protector the consequences of him getting too close to his position are dire!"

"I know, and I would have stopped it immediately,” Abigail began.

"Would have?" Ena asked, "This is not to be taken lightly, he cannot obsess over the girl who isn't even his! Do you forget she has a mate? Legion would be very, very much a problem if he is to find out Azian has taken a fancy to her, his mate. The last thing we need is an angry Lycan Prince and an obsessed dragon!"

"And I understand that!" Abigail retorted with a short rage that sent the lights in the house flickering, it made everyone gasp and Ena take a step back.

Abigail took a deep breath pushing her dark locks from her face, as she lowered her voice, "I know everyone's stressed at the moment" she began eyeing each and every one of them, "but listen... The first time I sensed Kaya's aura on him I thought it could have been anything, I have to admit that I wasn’t completely sure, only suspicious" she added giving Ena a glance.

"He was so-so alive that morning, I decided not to jump to conclusions. I though finally, maybe it was a sign he was beginning to start shifting.

But next day it was like switch, he was extremely low and gloomy and I sensed nothing remotely near to Kaya so I brushed it off, praying to Erania the boy hadn't gotten sick on me again.

I don't know what I would have done if that was the case," she breathed out as if in renewed relief, "but I started to notice throughout that day that he was not really acting sick but sad, really sad, it was then I started to notice things I had noticed before but paid no attention to, the little things that were off with Khloe and him. " she trailed off, glancing from Anna to Mariah, "it was then I became very suspicious, and it was then I sensed magic, a very faint one, but I knew it's aura from deep within me Soup magic"

He always seemed so mad when Khloe was near him I knew it shouldn't have been the case with a mate as you all know, and after of course we meant Drakel and his mate things began to twist in my mind"

Everyone was silent, they all had seen things, even Edwin and Alessia though they had brushed it all away. Who were they to know how mates acted like? They never had any themselves.

"The next day was worse, I was sure he was sick and he was bitter at everything and then he suddenly blew Khloe off like she was nothing, I knew then something was very wrong, and the dark aura surrounding him seemed to be so-so there I couldn't deny it anymore.

However the next day I had never seen him so new, alive and so bright" she said all this with a certain charm, "and he was covered in Kayas aura from head to toe. It was just so there, and when I reached out for omega I actually felt Alpha for the first time, so I decided to say nothing, I was trying something."

She turned her seat slightly to face Edwin, "the next day the boy was glowing, and again he was dazzled in her aura and then of course we discovered Khloe wasn't Azians real mate and it all made sense to me, why his dragon was so distant with her and moved to something he knew was his, Kaya.

My theory is that she had a hand in why the Soul magic was failing, the girl with golden brown eyes, it all made sense to me"

Edwin almost choked trying to wrap his head around what had just been told, bit Alessia best him to it, "Did you just say Khloe isn't Azian mate, b-but how?" She asked.

"Magic,” Anna replied quietly, "very dark magic, one some don't even know exist"

Edwin was trying in vain to wrap his head around it, "you knew Azian was sneaking out to See Kaya and you didn't mind" he began first staring at Abigail.

Abigail shrugged, "yes I did, and I was curious to see why, and of course when I felt Alphas presence through the mind link for the first time, I thought Kaya was helping break the soul spell, see a connection with something destined could have been what weakened the dark spell, I knew it was better he was with her for now. No matter the consequences" she added glancing at Ena’s troubled face.

"Then could this mean. Could Kaya be Azians mate? His real mate? I mean it could make a lot of sense right? Why the spell was weakened, because she was there?" Anna began

"Yes, and the soul spell could be the reason as to why they didn't recognize her as their mate in the beginning?" Mariah added fitting the pieces.

"I don't understand what happening," Alessia muttered.

"It was what came first to mind as well, " Abigail confessed as the air grew thick in their midst, "but it couldn't be, Kaya has a mate, Legion. Remember?" She began as everyone's faces darkened

"It would be logical that maybe, to some extent the gods had been so playful as to give a dragon a possession who was already someone’s mate.  I wouldn't be surprised if it had happened once or twice in the far past, really, but one thing I am completely certain of is that Erania would never allow her children, especially one who was the last of his kind a mate who already had a mate. She knows a dragon never shares, it's an unspoken rule, and such to happen would cause a disaster. There is no way she would have given him one that belongs to another" she explained.

There was a short silence before everyone hummed in agreement.

It had made sense. And no one even wanted to think of a possibility to that occurring.

"I believe" Abigail replied standing up, "Kaya was placed here as a possession for this reason, and this reason only, to weaken the soul spell between Azian and his False mate. I must admit Erania was very strategic in this, " she hummed moving across the kitchen, "I can't say the girl hasn't been of help, " she paused looking down at the group, "because of her we were able to see through the Soul magic, we have to find a way to sever the spell. I believe we need Khloe's blood for that, and Kaya, she needs to maintain a distance from him now. She has served a purpose but like Ena said, we do not need a Lycan prince against us in this war at the moment, and most importantly,” she paused turning to face them,

"Alpha mustn't know his possession has her match. I can't even begin to think of what could happen if such was too happen. The time they have spent together to weaken the soul spell must have given them a bond.

It of course has to be destroyed but in the most delicate way possible,” her jaw clenched as she glanced at the melted tops, shaking her head, "the consequences could be unforgivable." She sighed taking a seat as she folded her arms, " after this, It wouldn't be a bad idea to move towns, we have stayed in Torent for far too long if a soul spell was done without our knowledge it means Azians Aura has grown past the protection spell and those who can sense power managed to find him."

Ena was about to say something but Abigail suddenly put one hand over her lip rushing her, growing quiet, "Azians back" she finally announced.

It wasn't a second later when the front door opened and Azian walked in with his head bowed low, his golden locks pulled back when he looked up.

He was not surprised to see everyone in the kitchen, he had already sensed their auras way before he walked in, the ugly puddle of metal staring back at him too making him inwardly groan.

"Where were you?" Abigail asked.

He sighed noticing Ena and Maria were here which meant the meeting Anna had talked about was about to commence but not before a good lecture from Abigail.

Alpha growled in irritation, this was not appealing at all to him. Being summoned him like he was some baby. He was a king.

More powerful than any of them combine and he was tired, and irritated at the moment. He decided for all three of them at the moment that whatever Abigail and her little gang had decided to say could wait till morning.

They seemed to behave like he would remain the little toddler he had been when he had first been rescued by Abigail. They seemed to forget that they were in the presence of a being that could shake the very core of the earth in a single breath, he would do what he deemed worthy when he felt like doing it. But as for now he wanted to rest He was too exhausted for anything else.

So he only clenched his jaw and walked past the midst of the small gathering making his way toward the stairs in annoyance. Now was not the time.

"Azian Answer me" Abigail ordered sternly causing Azian to snap back around, his eyes gleaming in fury as Alpha surfaced,

MAYBE THEY HAVE GOTTEN A LITTLE TOO COMFORTABLE AROUND US. WE ARE NOT CHILDREN. Alpha bellowed inside them very clearly as he surfaced, clearly not in the mood.

Abigail's eyes widened when she saw Alphas bright golden eyes that glowed with a red aura, but she decided he wouldn't scare her so easily, switching her tone, he was a teenager and teenagers were rebellious, "we need to talk Azian, we were all very worried about you" she eased as gently as she could, she could see that Alpha was in control at the moment and he was uncharted territory, she had never really had a proper conversation with this beast.

Ena watched all of this in a sudden fear, and wonder at the same time as Azians eyes glowed his dragons gold.

It wasn't like the other time where she could see him only as a reflection mirrored in his eyes, no this time his presence was suffocating, and he looked at them as if he was standing before them with an air of authority that had matched none she had ever met.

In this rare moment she was reminded what it was Azian really was.

"We're fine,” Alpha stated plainly trailing his eyes to the melted table with a wicked smirk, "Why worry over someone who’s near indestructible?"

Abigail and Ena let out sharp breaths they didn't know they were holding. Alpha had spoken to them.

This of course supported Edwin's story and surprised them, more than it should after been given a warning. His voice was deep, strong and pure, weakening their knees to a point where they felt like cowering, and his voice was reassuring as if there really was no need to have been worried.

Since everyone else had seemed to be frozen in time Azian grumbled turning back feeling very weak all of a sudden as Alpha disappeared deep within him.

He of course had not fed off of Kayas energy at all and that brought an air of exhaustion. He just wanted to rest at the moment and he was sure some sleep would do it though he doubted he would get any either, however he needed as much rest as he possibly could gather so he turned with the goal getting up the flight of stairs and wasting away in his bed, fingers crossed he didn't melt anything else while at it.

Abigail was suddenly whipped out of her daze when she saw Azian heading up the stairs and the next thing she knew she had blurted out the news she had planned to ease into him ever so delicately, "Khloe isn't your real mate!"

She watched as Azian froze before he could take another step and her heart began to beat wildly for some reason as he slowly turned back to face her, she was more than relieved when she came face to face with Azians blue tired eyes.

"What?' Azian asked wondering what the hell he had just heard.

"Khloe isn't your mate" Abigail replied slower, shutting her eyes as she tried to stabilize the shake in her voice. Alpha had indeed given her a scare.

Azian's eyebrows furrowed, his heart started beating wildly as both his dragon and power perked up to hear what it was Abigail was telling them.

"S-soul magic" she stuttered out. Abigail didn't understand why she was stuttering. Had she been shaken that bad?

She was more than grateful when Ena took it upon her to explain though her voice sounded even more shaken up than Abigail’s, "it's a type of magic that hasn't been done in centuries, well that's what we thought, but it was done on you. It tied you to her, Khloe that is."

Azian shut his eyes for a minute trying to put this into order, "what are you saying?" He asked again, "Khloe’s not my mate? Dark magic? How is that-?"

"She's an old witch, from the line of great witches like me" Abigail began to explain finding her voice finally, "she has outlived her time, and we believe she’s thrived off of souls and dark magic, her magic may not be as powerful as mine since she isn't a protector but there's not much difference as her blood is the same, coupled with years of witchery and mixing with soul magic, she is a force to reckon with." Abigail replied, "Her name is Stephania, you would know her as Khloe’s mother."

The face flashed in Azians mind, from the Sunday dinner. He could clearly see the stunning woman that had greeted him so normally, a dragon never forgot anything.  He could see her, the one whose beauty seemed wonderful but his eyes had begun to hurt staring at her for too long, he didn't even stare really, or notice much of her, he had been too consumed with Kaya.

"We believe she did some sort of spell with a magic so dark, little know of its existence. " she paused hesitating for minute, "somehow, I still don't know how, they bewitched you child, made you think Khloe was your mate. She is powerful, as she is a great witch too hence she must have somehow sensed your aura as you grew, the protection spell around you has begun to filter as your power grows, it's still pretty good for other Supernaturals but one as powerful as her could have been able to sense it the moment your aura peaked through.

Apart from that We know she used a simple love potion doused in soul magic but for it to be that strong the ingredients were quite powerful, "

Azian began to feel like a veil had just been ripped off his eyes, Khloe had made them suffer in their presence for nothing,

"I'm going to burn her" The three of them spoke in unison, their eye circled there deadly combination and a dark wind suddenly stormed in so strong the cupboards began to rattle and hair was blown every which way.

This frightened them all but Abigail was first to calm him, "you can't Azian! Wait, don't rush! We need her blood to find a way to sever the tie permanently!" Abigail rushed.

Azian glanced at her momentarily, "okay, I’ll take her blood, then I'll burn her" he reasoned.

"No! Sit down Azian!” She pleaded her hand clamping down on Azians arm to stop him from standing further, "If you go there you'll destroy everything, I assure you Stephania has a trick or two down her sleeve! Maybe burning Khloe will break the spell maybe! But what about Kaya?!"

At her name the wind suddenly died down and Azians swirling eyes dimmed as he frowned "what?" He demanded.

"Her family is under Stephania’s spell too, her father is tied to her, she has him under her spell, if anything happens and somehow you fail to destroy the both of them because Stephania is the oldest being on this planet right now, she knows every trick in the book, I assure you you're not going to get her so easily.

She knows power alone doesn't make you win, you need to be smart to survive and she hasn't lived for centuries being open prey! You don't know what she will do with her father and then Kaya will never forgive you"

This seemed to sadden him enough to calm him because after a minute Azians blue eyes shown through, "so what? What do we do?"

"We needed Stephania's blood, but we can't get her, so Khloe’s blood will have to do, for now. We need to find a way to do that"

Azian shook his head in annoyance, he would much rather melt her bones and feed her to the fishes.

Ena watched all of this unfold in despair, noticing how Kayas name got him calm in an instant, she glanced at Abigail who was also looking at her with a look of worry.

How deep was Azians bond with Kaya?
