Chapter 36: Chapter 36
Kaya’s POV
Peace.
Calm.
I had never felt this free before as I opened my eyes and soaked in the gentle rays of the sun peeking through the light curtains of my bedroom window.
I suddenly sat up in bed as all that happened last night flooded into my memory like an unwanted dream. What had happened? Like what really happened?
I remembered everything yet somehow I didn't understand it. I felt slightly dizzy as the door clicked open and Aunt Lily walled in with a tray filled with breakfast.
"Morning sleepy,” she greeted setting the tray in front of me before drawing the curtains wide opened. I groaned as the sun attacked my face.
"How was your night?” she asked plopping down beside me, folding her legs calmly.
I froze as I felt her eyes on me. I released a nervous chuckle pulling the food closer,” it was... Okay… I guess, "I continued, my voice low.
She folded her arms, "anything happen yesterday?"
I took a bite from the bacon swallowing hard, how do I explain something I didn't understand myself?
I shrugged, "nothing much,”
"Oh, so sleeping with a guy is normal to you?”
"Aunt Lily!” I pouted covering my face.
I could feel her soft chuckle, "how do you two know each other?” she asked.
"Who Azian?” I asked taking another bite from my breakfast.
"Oh... So that's Azian... No wonder his name was so familiar, he is Abigail's boy, him and the other dark haired boy... Wait...” She paused her mouth hanging open, "that's Mr. Jerk face?” she asked her eyes holding ultimate surprise.
I nodded before pausing myself, "He's Abigail son? The blue eyed lady from your book club?” I asked with my own surprise.
She nodded, "yeah- I mean-Not her son. But some relative I guess, "Aunt Lily replied, "wow, I always thought that boy was too good to be true... Those looks? Who would believe he would be such a jerk, " she countered, "had I known he is the one who kissed you and then ditched you and kissed your step sister I would have never let him in our house! " she seemed upset as she seethed on.
"Let him in our house?” I echoed
"Yeah,” she replied absently, her mind seemed to be another place.. Probably thinking of ways she could murder him.
"Why did you let him in our house?”
She sighed, tucking her hair behind her ear as she stood up, "because I wasn't strong enough to lift your eighteen year old but from the car. All the way up the stairs and to your bed,” she replied patting my leg.
My eyes widened, "you mean he-”
"Yep"
"He saw my-”
"Yep... And your room was even messier last night, see why I keep telling you to leave your room clean, " she said referring to the clothes I had scattered messily around my room, my eyes landing on my black bar, sprawled carelessly on my dressing table.
"Shoot me now,” I groaned, embarrassment flooding through me.
My aunt grinned kissing my cheek, "well if it’s any concealment he was focused on you he whole time." she eased walking to the door.
My hand flew to my mouth, "did I drool?” I asked.
She laughed as she walked out closing the door, leaving me to scream into my pillow.

Monday... Who the hell loves Monday? I groaned as I walked down the hallways, Ally by my side.
"Honestly, I feel like the weekend didn't even exist,” she sagged yawning.
Her hair was all over the place, and if I looked like a mess, she looked like a disaster. "Yeah... I don't think its fair the weekdays take their time. But the weekend fly by like they don't care about our happiness,”
Ally chuckled whispering how dramatic I was being but I didn't care. Someone would think I would be happy, I mean I was in the whole of yesterday just relaxing but last night was just so uncomfortable. For some reason I found it hard to sleep. I felt like a zombie when I woke up this morning.
My shoulder's sagged as we weaver through the people to our lockers.
Finding my science book was another task I was not Up for. My locker was such a mess.
"Don't turn around,” Ally whispered opening the locker beside me.
"Why?” I asked freezing in my position
"Legions coming this way,"
I could feel a slight trembled through my fingers as his hurtful words flashed back through my mind.
"I don't want to see him."
She glanced momentarily behind me, "he is focused on you,”
I shook my head swallowing hard. I might just punch him if I saw his stupid face. I gritted my teeth grabbing any random text book, "let's go," I motioned to her, dropping my head low and walking in the opposite direction.
Ally said nothing as we walked away, I knew she had no love left for Legion since he turned us always harshly.
We rounded the corner, slowly relaxing as we walked farther away from, I could finally lift my head up high but immediately regretted it when I saw who was coming directly toward us.
Azian and the dark haired guy who I should really start calling by his name. He had never done anything to me.
My heart lost its count and my mind run out of thoughts to keep busy, yet my eyes focused on his face, waiting for that moment he would shift his beautiful eyes to meet mine.
They came closer and I felt like everyone else could just melt in the background. Just so close..
He walked by us without as much as a glance or a slight shift of the head. I turned slightly to see him meeting Khloe at the end of the hallway.
Uh that's right. He was dating my step sister.
Stupid is a feeling that had grown as close to me as a sister ever since I entered this stupid town.
Stupid to think he would acknowledge me after what happened the other night. Stupid to think something did happen with us the other. Stupid to think something could have changed. Stupid to kiss the two most stupid boys in our stupid school.
Yeah stupid was the word of the day.
I groaned as Ally patted my back, I knew she understood me. After my aunts breakfast yesterday, I spent the rest of that Sunday updating Ally on what had happened. I mean that's what BFFs do. Right?
...
The day flew by uneventful. Same old. Apart from feeling Legions annoying eyes on me during science and the usual cheerful laughter of Khloe at the Lunch high table it was quite the same.
By nightfall I was fully exhausted. I finished up all my homework and allowed my sled to finally go to sleep. Unlike yesterday I did actually sleep well.
The rest of the week was the same as the Monday it started with, dull.
Days went by till I could finally smell the sweet air of Friday. The most happy and mist spectacular day if the week.
I like Saturdays because other than it being short and of course the beginning of the weekend. Ally and I took the same classes the whole day.
I watched as Ally finished stacking her books in the locker. The funny thing about Friday is that everybody looks to vibrant. Especially Ally. Ditching her Monday is hell look, she rocked some Friday is fun braids with dubs of pink.
I never thought pink was her color but boy was I wrong.
"I can feel your eyes on me,” she said slamming her locker shut.
"I bet I'm not the only one eyeing you,” I replied my eyes trailing slightly to the two boys that were take glances at her.
She rolled her eyes, "oh please...not my type,” she said as we slowly headed to class following the half empty halls. People had the tendency to ditch Friday classes.
"Kaya,” someone said from behind.
Both Ally and I turned to see who it was.
Legion stood in front of us, his hazel eyes seemed to be eating me up.
Ally grabbed my arm, "let's go Goldie,” she replied with a tight scowl
Legion grabbed my other arm pulling me back.
"Hey let go!” ally yelled her eyes blazing.
"You back off,” his voice was calm yet deep and dangerous.. Dark even. His eyes seemed to have deepened in color, almost in a challenging way and almost instantaneously I felt Ally pull away faking a step away.
My eyebrows furrowed at this scene before coming back to reality pulling my own hand away.
I tell you boys at this school we're confusing. He told me to stay away, but he is just like before.. Following me. I swear they can't decide. Well I had right about enough.
"What do you want Legion?” I asked adjusting my bag.
"I want us to talk,”
"Oh now he wants to talk, " Ally replied her voice dripping witch sarcasm.
Legion shot her a look that almost made me run. Ally immediately shut her mouth.
"She's right, you want to talk now? As I really you said I should stay away from you, I've kept my end... Why are you here? "I asked... I kept my voice cold a merciless.
His eyes faltered for a second.
Great just like the next dumb boy he had nothing to say.
"I can explain it all. Why I acted the way I did,”
"Go ahead" I replied folding my arms. He glanced at Ally.
"She's staying,”
He sighed, "look it just wasn't the best time,” he took a step closer easily towering over me, "I was trying to protect you,” he whispered... His eyes we're reading something I never thought I would see in his eyes.
They were pleading.
"Protect me from what?" I asked folding my arms. I couldn't wait to hear this. An alien invasion? What on earth could legion protect me from?
I wanted to laugh out loud.
He glanced at Ally again before licking his lips, I can't explain it right now. But if you give me some time-”
"Time?” I chuckled.., "you hear that?” I said as the last bell rang
"There is no time left... It seems you have nothing to say legion. Once again thanks for wasting my time. However I will make sure this is the last time it happens,”
With a flip of my hair stormed out.
The nerve!
Ally caught up with me adding her bawl of hell on how obnoxious legion was, how toxic all the boys we're and how happy she would be to burn him for my sake.
I couldn't help but chuckle at the last one as we entered class ready for our final lessons for the week.
By the time classes were over the rain decided to grace us with its presence. Just a soft shower nothing much, and the sun still shown through. Ally and I made our way to the parking lot gossiping here and there.
I heard the familiar laughter of Khloe and I took a look. I was shocked when I saw who she was with. My Dad was standing besides her laughing along with her as leaned against his car.
"Isn’t that your father?" Ally asked pausing slightly. She handy seen him yet ever since I came to torrent.
I nodded feeling a little hurt. Hurt that he would see her first instead of me. I was about to turn around when our eyes met.
His dark welcoming chocolate eyes lit up, his smile seemed. To pause the world as he spotted me. In a few second he had reached us.
"Hey Dad,” is said waving a little as Khloe joined us, "what. What are you doing here? "
Dad grinned, "I came. To see my daughters, I was passing by so I thought why it check up on my girls? "
Khloe giggled taking his hand, "that's so sweet of you Dad, I didn't see you this morning,”
He groaned, "Sorry pumpkin, I woke up pretty early, work stuff... Your mother however was sweet enough to make me breakfast" he coed.
I gritted my teeth glancing over at ally who seemed very uncomfortable at the moment.
It seemed as if they we're already the perfect family.
Dad finally looked back at us. Acknowledging Ally's presence as he studied her, "tink?” he asked quite unsure of himself.
Ally nodded with a slight blush, "yes, good to see you Mr Joston, " she replied.
Dad shook his head, "I haven't seen you since you we're what. 12? Wow... You look just like Kathy,”
Ally giggled at this, "she is my mother,” she said
"How's your Dad?”
"He's okay. Just stressed I've this books g case his working on,”
"Agh I see, he's always been the hardworking kind,”
Ally nodded her smile faltering a little.
A small silence developed the four of us.
"Oh, Dad I want you to meet someone, " Khloe began squeezing Dads hand.
In a second he gave her all his attention, "who?”
"The one I told you about,” she said through her teeth.
He paused as if trying to remember, "Arthur. Arnold. Alex?” he guessed.
Khloe rolled her eyes playfully, "Azian,”
My heart skipped a beat as she said that name, I glanced at Ally and she gave me a pitiful glance.
"Oh yeah. That's it,”
"Good, here he comes, "she said motioning to the popular three that just walked out of the school.
The last thing I wanted to do was to be in his presence, "uhmm Dad, I'll see you later, " I began motioning to Ally.
He turned back, "no, wait Kaya, I still need to talk to you about something," he glanced at the three approaching us, "I'm sure this won't take long, C’mon, " he pleaded taking my hand as Khloe called out to them.
"Dad.”
"Please,”
I sighed as Ally groaned silently beside me.
When they finally reached us. I couldn't help but notice how Azian seemed to not even know we existed as he hugged Khloe grazing her cheek.
My heart did a dive like the titanic forcing my eyes to look away.
She introduced them and Dad seemed to have taken a liking to him.
He smiled standing beside me, "it’s nice to meet you sir,” Azian said giving my Dad a strong handshake. My Dad gave his approving nod, "likewise," he stepped back throwing his arms around me squeezing softly that was when Azian seemed to notice I existed.
His eyes rested on me longer than is usual and my useless heart decided to disappear.
"I think you know how it goes by now pretty boy, you do anything to harm her, you pay the consequences,”
"Yes sir,” he replied but from the corner of my eye I saw Alessia and the dark haired boy, that was introduced toys as Edwin sneer as if something my Dad had said was funny or ridiculous.
"I'm glad one of my daughters is happy unless you’re not telling me...” he raises an eyebrow at me as he rubbed my shoulder,
"No, Dad if I had a boyfriend of course I would tell you,” I retorted embarrassment flooding my cheeks. I could feel all eyes on me, Azians gaze hit me the most.
"Daughters?" he echoed. I lifted my eyes and met his. I saw something in them at that moment it seemed like rage. Rage? For what reason.
Dad looked up at him confused, "my daughters, Kaya and Khloe, know Khloe?" Dad rephrased. He stared at Azians face for a moment, "did you not know Khloe had a sister?"
"I-"
"We weren't aware," Edwin answered in his stead.
At this moment I felt very weird. One because I didn't know why Khloe hadn't told them I was her step sister. Secondly, I wondered why I cared. I mean I didn't go around telling everyone Khloe was my sister, but I guess I thought her closest friends would know just like mine does, and lastly I felt weird because I could feel Azians gaze on me. This was the longest he had ever gone,”
"Uh Dad, how about I just call you and then we can talk.” I said kissing his cheek.
"Kaya," he dragged.
"I'll see you later, c’mon Ally," I cooed walking away.
I could still feel his eyes on me as we walked away.
