Chapter 33: Chapter 33

KAYAS POV

My fingers trembled a little, making me form a fist to keep my cool as I stood in the shadow of the large gate. Ally shivered glancing at me, "this is where he lives?” she asked unconvinced.

I took out the piece of paper from my pocket rechecking the address, "yep, according to this, "I replied handing it over to her.

She sighed crumbling it, “I have a bad feeling about this,"

.I shrugged walking toward the gate, "how do you open this?” I grunted but before I could touch the large golden plates, the gate swung open.

Ally and I exchanged looks, "alright," she mumbled sucking in her breath as she took a step in, "not creepy at all" she jeered

I followed after her, the large mansion that stood before us, reeling us in.

It was nothing short of magnificent. Strangely I hadn't expected anything less.  Legion always seemed like a rich bad boy, everything about him spoke grace and sophistication though there was something wild about him something I couldn't quite place.

"Lycan,”

"What?” I asked turning to Ally who had stopped petrified.

My eyes followed hers, in the center of the garden to the left was a huge life like statue of a vicious bipedal type wolf.

My feet felt drawn to it and changed direction to the garden but Ally stopped me giving me a worried look, "don't, let's just find him and get the hell out of here, this place is creepy,”

For a girl who had posters of Greek monsters in her bedroom she looked unbelievably scared.

We approached the large door and I did what I would normally do at any other house. Rang the doorbell.

After a few quiet moments the door opened revealing a face that made me take two steps back, almost falling on ally.

The man that stood before us filled the large door way easily, his muscles bulging out of his shirt.  But what made him a lot fiercer was the three scars on his face running from his left eye all the way down to his neck.  He also had different eye colors, a dull green to the right and brown to the left.

His face broke out into a creepy grin, Ally immediately entwining our fingers together, allowing me to feel the shake in them and the waves of uncertainty coming off her.

"H-hello" I managed to stutter.

His eyes rested on me seeming to suck me in from head to toe.

"Are you girls lost?” he asked not at all in a can I help you kind of way.  His eyes searched around us as if checking if we had come alone.

I gulped shaking my head slowly, “n-no we were j-just looking for a- A friend"

He grinned his sharp teeth grazing his bottom lip, “there are no friends here, believe me"

I glanced at Ally, “this is the address we we're given, "Ally spoke for the first time

His eyes trailed back to her, "leave" he said firmly. Taking a step towards us,

By pure instinct we took two steps back, "leave or I'll make you, no one is allowed on these grounds, especially your kind,”

"Our kind?” Ally echoed, her eyes trailing back to the statue in the garden, then to the man before us.

His face seemed to darken as Ally's eyes widened in fear, then he released a strange noise... One I swear only wolves could make… He growled.

"Look I'm s-sorry sir we thought Legion lived here. We will get of your property,” I quickly said grabbing on to Ally.

His mismatched eyes widened as he backed up, "who?"

Ally gripped on to me whispering that we should leave immediately   but the man before me looked half as scary as before.

"Legion, our friend,” I repeated letting go of Ally.

His jaw ticked, as he held his breath, glancing at the two of us, then he turned and stomped into the house leaving the door open.

"Should we...?”

"No... Definitely not... Kaya, something's not right, I can feel it, let’s go home,” Ally begged.

I turned to her, "not yet,” I said walking into the house.

I found myself in a large hall, the floors covered in what seemed like a velvet carpet. I felt like I had stepped into some sort of castle.

"Whoa," Ally gasped as I felt her presence beside me, "this is...” she trailed off glancing at me,

"Unnatural" I finished for her as I took in the sight.

I wondered who Legions parents were, how much money they had in order to afford this place.

"Kaya?"

I turned sharply around to see Legion standing beside someone I had just met yesterday, Caleb.

There was an unnatural silence that enveloped the four of us at that point. All of us seemed shocked to see each other.  I could tell Caleb didn't not like being surprised... But so did me.

Was Caleb legions father?  He looked old enough but then again they looked nothing alike.  Why did Legion look taller?  Why was he wearing a suit that looked like it could buy all my daddies restaurants and clubs.

From the way they we're looking at us, they seemed to both have questions but nevertheless slowly approached us, "h-hey" I said slowly feeling a slight blush.

I just remembered what had happened between us the last time we met. Now the only question running through my mind was why the hell I was here.

Legions eyes seemed to bore into mine,   deciding if he liked that I was here or not. I removed my eyes from his doubtful face turning to Caleb, "I-I didn't know you two knew each other, are you his father?” I asked in a doubtful tone.

"Uhmm, ye-"

"No-"

" a little, "

"Sort of"

They both spoke at the same time making it more awkward.

Ally and I exchanged looks.

"What we mean is... Caleb, is like a father to me...  but he is not my father,” Legion finally said staring harshly at Caleb.

A little too harshly for a father figure in my opinion.

"Wow, your house is uhmm... Wow" Ally began switching the tone.

"Uh yes. It... It is.” Legion replied still looking very much uncomfortable, "how did you two-"

"From school, we got your address from school,” I replied quickly

His eyes seemed to get harder, “Venice gave you my address?” his tone was harsh and misplaced.

"You mean our principle?" Ally asked.

"I meant what I said,” he countered.

"She didn't, we, It’s a long story, you didn't come to school all week so we thought we would just check up on you,"

Caleb whispered something in legions ear, before turning to us, ”I have to leave,  Kaya it was nice seeing you," he announced in a very formal way,  "and you uhmm"

"Ally,”

"And you, Ally,” he finished before excusing himself.

My eyes shyly trailed back to legion who seemed to be staring at me, his eyebrows furrowed.

"You don't seem to be happy we came,” I admitted

He glanced at Ally then back at me, “I didn't expect it, " he replied coldly.

I suddenly felt a wave of regret flooding through me. A dark shiver dancing across my spine, "i- I just wanted to see if you're alright, I was worried about. About you,” I trailed off wondering if my words revealed a deeper meaning.

"You clearly don't listen,”

My eyes widened. What?

"You shouldn't have come." He finally said. He glanced at someone behind me, "both of you, as you can see I'm fine,"

"Rude much?" Ally replied folding her hands, her tone was bitter.

He didn't pay attention to her, "this is no place for you,"

"For "our kind" " Ally retorted, her bravery seemed to have resurfaced.

Legion studied her face calmly, "exactly,"

Her eyes widened and so did mine, "you should go, now"

"What?" my mind did a double take.

"K-kaya let's go, " Ally cooed.

"Wait, you're throwing us out?” I asked knowing I must have miss heard.  That ungrateful little thief.

He didn't reply, but still had that stone cold expression on his face.

"Drop it Kaya, obviously he isn't worth it,”

"You kiss me, skip a week and now you're throwing me out?!!” I asked.  My aunt’s craziness must have been passed down to me.  What was I? Boy repellant?

His stone cold gaze didn't change and I'm sure whatever he had of her heart was colder.

"You know what?  Fine!” I replied feeling the waves boiling off me I,  I turned grabbing Ally's arm with me as I stomped off

"And Kaya?" Legion called his voice held no mercy

I paused gritting my teeth, "stay away from me,"

I scoffed turning to face him, "no. Legion you should stay away from me, that's all you had to do from the beginning,"

"Jerk!" Ally called after as we stomped out of the house.

All I could see was red, I didn't even care that I almost bumped into the large man from before or Caleb who was just out front.  He called for me but I didn't turn back I kept walking, out the gate and into Ally's car.

"What an asshole" ally commented.

"Just drive, please," I said my voice skipping.  She nodded as we sped off.

****

"You've had enough Kaya,” Ally said as I gulped the juice down

"Keep em coming," I replied throwing my cup towards her.  She rolled her eyes pouring me another glass.

We we're currently back at Ally's house, and I was drinking my sorrows away in the kitchen, Ally's mom and Dad had gone for thief anniversary outing so that left Ally alone for the time being.

"This is the last cup though," she rolled passing it to me.

"I wish I was drunk,” I groaned staring at the cup

"And I love my life. Your aunt would kill me, “Ally replied sliding in the sit next to me.

"What's wrong with me Ally?” I asked after gulping it all down.

She looked at me with pity, "you're too good for those two, come on Kaya,”

"One was alright, now Legion. What am I, kiss and ditch girl?” I asked placing the empty glass onto the counter.

Ally sighed, "Maybe you're not the problem"

I rolled my eyes, "I believed that for. Mr Jerk face but now with the asshole?  Nope I'm the one with the problem,"

"Or maybe this town is"

I looked at her very unconvinced, here was I crying over something I couldn't quite understand and there she was convinced we had just solved something spectacular.

"I'm serious Kaya, the way they said it, "your kind" as if we we're scum or something very insignificant. Unholy even,"

I studied her for a minute, "I should go home, and it’s getting late,”

She shook her head watching me, "alright let me drop you home,”

"Its fine, I need to clear my head," I replied hugging her, "thanks for the juice, and the shoulder to lean on,"

She smiled as I walked toward the door, "see ya on Monday!” I called closing the door behind me.

.

I stepped into the cold streets, the sun had just set, and the street lights we're on.  The coldness immediately developed around me as I rounded the corner. Legions cold handsome stupid face flashed into my memory.

I sighed staring at the deserted streets one car parked before a mart a few feet away.

I swear today was not my day when I realized whose range rover that was.

The culprit walked out of the mart as if by karma... I should have looked away but I was too late, our eyes met and there was no denying the stupid wave that went through me like it always did whenever our eyes met. Be it in the hallways at school or in the cafeteria, gym. You get it.

I took my eyes away from him keeping them on the road, but my heart didn't get the message, it kept pumping harder and harder. I was so sure it would explode.

My ears were as attentive as ever. Knowing exactly when he started the car,   reversed it and took it out if the lot.

The black cars engine roared softly behind me as I felt it coming up, I prayed softly he would just pass by.. But this day. This day sucked.

The car slowly approached me, and my heart did a dive like the titanic as it paced beside me, I heard the windows rolling down.

I glanced over at him, his eyes were that funny bluish gold as if they couldn't decide what color they decided to be in.

With the anger and frustration I had already had built up from earlier today I wanted to scream at them,  tell them to just pick  a color already and stop confusing me.

I restrained myself instead, my hands turning to fists in my pocket. What did this jerk want? He better not-

"Get in," his voice came out pure and strong, firm with a hint of gentle.

I had to fight my brain to not get in no matter how much my body felt like cowering and doing what he wanted. There was just no way... No way at all I would let myself be used again.

I mustered up a chuckle, "no thank you," I replied. I wanted nothing, nothing at all to do with either one of them. My life wasn't supposed to be so confusing.

"Please" it didn't sound like he was pleading, more like begging, as if he had to, I had to.

My eyes found his changing ones, I was tempted to say no, but something deep inside decided it would just be one drive. One drive and then I could put both Mr Jerk face and Mr. Asshole in a box, lock them up and throw them and their confusion in the Pacific Ocean.

Yes... This was the last day I would ever entertain either one of them. Come to think of it, it was probably the worst decision of my life.

I sighed as he parked the car, allowing me to get in. His car was nothing less than luxurious, it smelled like him, like. Power... Like dominance.

I could feel his eyes on me but I decided not to entertain them.

My eyes instead landed on the plastic bag seated on the dash board, lemons and honey.

I glanced at him as he began to drive, so he had taken my advice... Then why... My eyebrows furrowed watching him closely. He looked like... Well. Shit.

It was almost like his glamour had worn off.  His eyes seemed swollen, his posture hunched, so, so different from the god that walked our halls.

I wasn't thinking I swear, when I reached forward to touch him. I just couldn't understand why he suddenly looked so drained.

As soon as my fingers touched his hand his eyes seemed to decide which color they wanted...  He breathed out slowly. Not saying a word so I kept my hand over his.

I never once showed him the direction to my home, but he found it.  He parked just out front and I saw Aunt Lily peeping from the kitchen window.

I turned toward him my eyes trailing every feature of his beautiful face, and his eyes stared back, I kept feeling like I was in a dream, like all this was happening in my head.

"Close your eyes," I said.

His eyebrows furrowed at first but i didn't feel confused. I just felt like I needed to. I saw his eye lids fall as if in relief, his hands gripping my mine.

I felt a wave of peace, peace and silence. His breathing deepened and I knew he was asleep. I couldn't quite understand it all... But I don't want to. Watching him... Just looking peaceful made me feel peaceful. All that anger I had suddenly dissolved as I watched him. Studying every inch of his.

I closed my own eyes and drifted off into another world, where the same golden eyes haunted me.

Little did I know, this was the first in a series of nights we'd spend together. Come to think of it he would have never been able to fit in the box... Neither of them could.
