Chapter 49: Chapter 49

"Arsenic?", I tried to wake my mate the next morning. But he only growled tiredly and pulled me closer to his warm chest.

"Arsenic?" Again there was no reaction from him. How can you be so stubborn?

"I'm going into town with Inala today, shopping." Arsen immediately opened his eyes and looked at me. I knew it...

"No!" he growled. "I didn't authorize that after all."

Of course he forbids me to do it, but I won't give up that easily.

"But you have to give me my freedom," I tried, but Arsen said no again.

I angrily pulled away from his arm and got up to go to the closet. He can eat me. I'm not his child, whom he can forbid everything.

“Inala and I will drive. We agreed on that yesterday.", I tried again and took a pair of jeans and a white blouse from the closet. After all, he couldn't tell me anything. It may be that he's my mate, but I'm almost 18 and my father neither is he.

"I said 'no'," Arsen growled behind me in an angry tone. He placed his hands on either side of the closet, blocking my path. I was trapped between him and the closet.

He was so close to me that my heart immediately jumped a few octaves.

"A-Arsenic," I stuttered. I felt like giving in to the urge inside me and kissing it.

"Come on Arsenic," suddenly Inala's muffled voice sounded in the hallway. Arsenic growled angrily at that.

"You really think I'll let you go when you haven't even asked me?" he growled. "You seem to forget who the Alpha is here."

"Please?" I tried to catch up on the question. Still, his 'I'm the alpha' attitude got on my nerves.

"Only if I can come with you." He looked into my eyes intently and almost touched his nose to mine. I felt his warm breath on my lips.

"When you wait in the car then?" I choked out. When he was that close to me, I always felt this inner tension that made me want to be even closer to him.

"Fine," he grunted, finally releasing me. He then grabbed a pair of jeans and a black t-shirt from the closet and we both got dressed.

After a few hours of driving, in Arsen's sports car, we arrived at the shopping mall. I hadn't been here for a long time, but everything still looked like I remember it. The same old shops and ice cream parlor at the entrance. I used to envy all my classmates when they went out for ice cream with their friends after school. However, I had neither the time nor the money for it.

"Here," Arsen said after parking and handed me a credit card.

"It's fine, I don't need it. Steven already gave me some money," I answered, but Arsen immediately growled. Maybe mentioning Steven wasn't a good idea after all. He still had his problems with him, after all.

“Now take and buy as much as you want. I've got enough money." He handed me the card, and I wondered how a werewolf who spends most of his time in the woods could make so much money.

Without thinking further, I opened the passenger door and gave Arsen another quick kiss on the cheek before I got out.

"If there's anything, then call me, Inala." My mate's command sounded before I closed the car door. Inala got out of the back and together we set out to search through all the shops.

We bought her and I new clothes and I enjoyed the time I spent with her. Despite our age difference, we got along great.

After an hour of running from store to store, Inala suddenly stopped me.

"Look there!" She gestured at a baby store in the window.

"They're awfully cute," I gushed. "There must be cuddly toys here, too."

We went to the store together and looked at some of the stuff. Inala pulled one romper after the other off the shelves and wanted to buy them all. But I was able to stop her at least from a few specific things since we didn't know the gender yet. But I also found all this clothing so incredibly cute that I actually thought about how it would be if I had a baby. But I still have plenty of time for that. I don't have to rush anything...

Then we went to the cash register to pay. But then I saw our goal of the trip.

"There are cuddly toys.", I shouted triumphantly and pulled Inala to the shelf. We didn't have to search long before we found what we were looking for. A small cuddly toy that looked like a wolf. Perfect for the expectant wolf father.

Together with this we went back to the checkout and had the cuddly toy packed in an extra box and tied with a bow. Costa will be amazed why he gets a cuddly toy.

"When is Costa's birthday?" I asked, thinking of telling him on his birthday.

"I've already thought about that, but it's only in December and that would definitely be too late.", Inala laughed and caressed her stomach, which isn't visible yet.

"Well, maybe you can't tell that you're pregnant and you could hide your belly under loose clothing for so long." I joked and we both laughed together.

"Speaking of loose clothing. I'm definitely going to need maternity clothes."

I had already thought of that when Inala squeezed herself into tight clothing earlier.

After Inala paid, we went to the nearest clothing store. Inala bought all kinds of clothes for the pregnancy and I also bought one or the other.

Packed with several bags, we continued through the mall. It wasn't even a thought of finishing soon. But then my eyes fell on a certain shop. Just thinking about what I'm about to do made me blush.

"Um Inala?"

"Yes?"

"There's a shop I've always wanted to go to. Can we break up for a second?" I asked, circling my fingers nervously. I wanted to get Arsen a little surprise, although I'm not sure when he'll see it yet...

"Clear. Anyway, I wanted to go to the bookstore and see if there were any books about pregnancy. After all, Costa should prepare sufficiently," she said, laughing casually. "But promise me you won't leave. Otherwise I'll get stressed about arsenic."

"I promise." And so we parted and I entered the lingerie store.

I went through the ranks and couldn't really find anything I like. Then I wondered what would find Arsenic beautiful.

But then my eyes fell on black lace underwear, the lace fabric you can see through. It was just perfect and I could already imagine how Arsen would react when I wear it. Nevertheless, it would take some effort from me, because I didn't want to show my body, with one or the other scar, so openly in front of him. But he is my mate.

I love him...

I quickly grabbed it and went to the checkout with it. Without looking the cashier in the eyes, I paid, hid the underwear deep in one of my many bags and then left the store.

Luckily that wasn't too difficult. I hope Arsen is happy about it.

I waited for Inala outside in the hallway of the mall where we parted. Hard to believe it takes her so long to choose a book. She's probably buying all sorts of things again.

"Hello," someone suddenly spoke to me from the side, startling me slightly.

I flinched, but then turned to the voice and recognized an elderly gentleman. His hair was almost completely gray, but there were still a few black hairs in some places, which indicated his former hair color. His eyes reminded me a lot of Arsenic's as they are the same shade of green.

I gave him a friendly smile and then asked, "How can I help you?"

"I don't need any help, just checking out the rumors for myself," he replied, giving me a grin that made my smile disappear.
